  1. Line I was thinking of was this: Rayse wants to rule, but the power doesn't like that. It wants people to question and argue and stand up, and Rayse's insistence on demanding obedience conflicts with it and weakens him.
  2. Why do I think Spiritual Adhesion? Because the way it's described seems like Connection mumbo jumbo to me. Why do I hate it? Because everything seems to be Adhesion, and it's just way more overpowered than any other Surge.
  3. Wasn't that directly against the will of his Shard? Sja-anat remarks on that, iirc.
  4. I'm certainly willing to concede that Dalinar, due to his rather unique situation, might be directly moving Honor's Perp around somehow, but it would seem odd to me for Ishar to do the same. Much as I hate it, probably toss it under the Spiritual Adhesion pile, like most of the other Connection nonsense.
  5. Narrative reasons, mainly:
  6. Based on what Zahel and Kalak say, this may be because they ordinarily have a sort of direct feed line. RoW 15: RoW 92 epigraph: With that cut, it seems like they decay over time, perhaps just like a certain other type of Shadow we've seen. Something of note: two Rosharan weeks is equal to approximately eight Cosmere standard days. It's plausible, then, that "over the weeks" in fact refers to around the same amount of time as a Returned lasts (though it's also plausible Jezrien lasted longer, as "weeks" is rather vague). Yeah, at this point she's still expecting Voidlight and Stormlight to destroy each other, right?
  7. That might just be a difference in how spren and Cognitive Shadows work, that perhaps CS need a fuel line of sorts while spren don't.
  8. RoW 66 Depends how you define it. It was probably created using Honor's Investiture, yes, but any other Bondsmith would likely work the same in that regard. As far as I can tell, the Bondsmith Perps work via Connection, not just a large chunk of Investiture like normal. If so, then I feel calling it Honor's Perp is a misnomer, as it's not a Perp arising from Honor's presence, but rather something created in a weird hacky manner using his power. Nale's the only one who is bonded to a spren, but commonly usage of the term just means anyone with those two powers. So it depends how you're determining it. Nale's the only one who qualifies as a Radiant, though, yes.
  9. I mean, Melishi did things that weren't thought possible before, and was bonded to the Sibling. Just because it wasn't possible before doesn't make it exclusive to the Stormfather. It can also mean it's something that was prevented by Honor in the past. Dalinar's is, yes. We don't know about Ishar. Stormfather can't even sense Ishar's Perp, iirc? Ehhh. Usage of the order terms tends to include the Heralds.
  10. One of the main problems I have with it: If Dalinar's UNITE THEM is from a Dawnshard, that would mean Gavilar had it too, since he heard it as well. This would likely mean the Dawnshard was in the Stormfather or something similar, since that's both the connection between the two there and the source of it for Dalinar. And yet, Honor talks about the Dawnshards as if they are not accessible, which does not make sense if his pet spren has one, and it would be really odd if one got in there and he missed it. Plus, the whole UNITE THEM thing comes from Tanavast, so him not knowing about it is even weirder.
  11. The main thing for me is that a conqueror is still trying to promote unity, even if it fails. Meanwhile, Odium the Shard actively opposes it, imo from what we have seen. It's just possible to exploit it to unite anyway. Yeah, I can see that, and if you're using those categories, it's good as any, I suppose. That WoB's just basically instinct whenever I see the Shard brought up this point, rather than a direct response to what you said Yeah, that would certainly fit pretty well. Strong agree. This is always my main problem with that idea: sure, it's connected to the idea of Change in a way, but if someone Commands you to Change, why would it give you the exact opposite?
  12. Ehh, idk. We see in RoW that questioning and fighting is something the Shard really likes, so I feel like Unity doesn't fit it, even if in some cases it can be used for that. (I also strongly disagree with Unite or Survive being Dawnshards, but we know so little about them that eh, whatever.) One other thing: the Intent of the Shard that wants to survive is only tangentially related to survival, and mostly it just knows what's going on and knows that staying out of sight is the best way to not die — which, y'know, most people would usually rather not die. These two WoBs have led to the common theory that Wisdom is this Shard, though it's unknown whether this Shard might just be Ingenuity/Invention, and of course the WoBs are not confirmation that this "Wisdom" is this Shard anyway.
  13. Not sure. Kelsier was holding it right up until the moment he gave it to Vin and she Ascended, so I think there was plenty outside the mists, but I could be mistaken and it was mostly in the mists while Kel held it. Might've been, but if so, they either didn't survive the Catacendre, or managed to hide their natures, I guess?
  14. When does he say that? The closest I remember is this: However, my memory is terrible, so it's not surprising if I missed it.
  15. That's not what Tumi looks like, that's his futuresight showing Kaladin in Plate.
  16. Some very important corrections: one, Era Two lines up with Stormlight, not Era Three, so we do actually know what Scadrial looks like right now. (In fact, Era Two technically is still in the future from RoW, as it starts during the time gap between Book Five and Book Six). And two, Era Three is only 50-70 years after Era Two, not a millennium. Edit: also, Mistborn at the time of Era 1 were at essentially their weakest point. They were strongest immediately after the Lord Ruler's Ascension, and ceased to exist after Era 1 (except Spook and Hoid... and sorta Kel, I suppose). Preservation was not Splintered. Leras was killed, but the Shard was not damaged, and still had a Vessel.
  17. Ishar didn't seem to be trying particularly hard to actually kill any of them. He defended himself, but otherwise didn't directly attack the Windrunners besides the Connection to the ground trick.
  18. Sure, Surgebinding comes from Honor and Cultivation. Still demonstrates a rather large flaw in the understanding of how it works on the part of the character.
  19. I mean, this is in the same lecture where the character not only says Honor and Cultivation invented gravity, but that they did so consciously and intentionally... The knowledge of this sort of topic there is clearly flawed.
  20. Which is evidence of Dawnshards not being needed for that power level, no?
  21. Currently the only thing known about Tamu Keks is that [spoilers for the publicly-available Dragonsteel Prime sample chapters] Also, singer gemhearts are apparently related to them.
  22. That's a theory, but not confirmed, as we know basically nothing about any of this. The gem dying could just mean Hoid took the Dawnshard out.
  23. I've got no idea, unfortunately, I had just asked on the Discord if anyone knew the font that the WoKP cover used and someone pointed me to Tresillian Script.
  24. That raises the problem: if the Radiants have three of the Dawnshards (or even one), why does Honor worry about how humans will do without the Dawnshards? And where does Ishar get his power, if Dawnshards are required for Bondsmith powers, and all four are accounted for?
  25. Guess it could be possible, but "all the rocks on this moon turn purple" feels like it'd be a really weird side effect of Investment to me.
