Nale argues both that the singers were there first before humans beat them, and so they should be listened to, as well as that while Honor was there first, Odium beat him, and so should be listened to. Yeah, it's a tad inconsistent lol.

Warmth coming from a place beyond
LewsTherinTelescope replied to mdross81's topic in Cosmere Discussion
I mean, the rather large flaw with this one is that it was killed and torn to pieces. Though, Spiritual Realm is a hell of a drug, so who knows. -
A few points: The Allomantic metals are not Invested. Their interaction with various manifestations of Investiture such as Allomancy and fabrials is due to some form of Spiritual properties they have (which apparently has to do with stuff in Dragonsteel), but they themselves are merely used as a key to draw Investiture from the Spiritual, not as sources of Investiture themselves. Additionally, raysium is explicitly stated to be pretty rare (Raboniel was considering scouring the room for every drop of it), so I don't see why nicrosil being more common would be a point in its favor here. (I also don't see why it'd be difficult to Soulcast, as nothing we've seen indicates most metals should be very difficult.) The dagger in Oathbringer is stated to be made "of a bright golden metal, so light it was almost white", which would match with what we'd expect from Odium, while nicrosil (as far as I can tell) is a pretty generic metallic grey. So the daggers using nicrosil seems extremely unlikely, imo. (I was on the side of the spears being either chromium or nicrosil up until Raboniel explained the dagger, though.) (This one's a minor nitpick) I don't think we'd ever seen any indication prior to RoW that another Shard was involved in the Threnody battle? That was completely new info, as far as I'm aware, but I could definitely be wrong here. I imagine you'll be happy to learn that bronzepulses being Preservation's tone has recently been confirmed rather than just being speculation! We know for a fact Vasher does not know how to use Stormlight as Breaths (apparently not even Hoid knows how to do this). I do suspect the tones are probably related to how he stays alive, though. Perhaps he's able to someone use them to take the Light in? Not sure. (This one is entirely theorizing.) I would highly doubt Nightblood is anti-Investiture, as we know the smoke it leaks is Investiture it has absorbed, which wouldn't make sense if it was just blowing said Investiture up. (The raysium dagger leaks black smoke in Oathbringer as well, and leaves the wound blackened, which indicates to me that it's not a result of anti-Investiture annihilation, as the dagger in that case sucked Jezrien out, not sent anti-Light in there.) (One more purely subjective response.) I can't see there being a ton of crossover with Scadrial in the back half, because Mistborn: Era 3 takes place around fifty to seventy years after the Stormlight Archive ends, but will be releasing in-between SA Books 5 and 6. So if either Era 3 or the SA back half has much crossover with Scadrial, Era 3 will likely spoil the back half in a very major way, which I don't see Brandon doing. Besides that, great video! It's always great to have videos like this to catch people up who aren't as absurdly deep in this stuff as a lot of us are here, lol. Apologies for some of the nitpicking here, mostly just pointing out things that came to mind as I watched.

What would happen if Lift ate aluminum?

I believe he still uses Stormlight, though I don't have time to search through the book to be 100% certain.

"Explosion" is perhaps a strong word, but with the tiny amount of Light you'd have to be using, it's not likely to need much force to get rid of it, or at least keep it from "attaching" properly or whatever. They didn't blow up in a large way, but the Fused burned internally and released smoke, and Phendorana's death was described this way:
-
I mean, if every bit of Stormlight you put in is accompanied by an explosion, then it's probably gonna be blasted away no matter what.
-
The explosion would probably disperse it, imo.
-
That feels likely to have the same result as (1)

What do you think the bands in LL and SL represent, in that case? I've never gotten the impression they had particularly broad Intents beyond the core idea. But I suppose we haven't seen their power described yet. (I'm still curious if there's anything odd up with Voidlight, tbh, because while I am strongly in the "Shardic colors aren't a big deal beyond narrative convenience" camp, it is odd it looks so different from literally anything else Odium. No idea what would be up with it if so, though.)
-
Yeah, you and I definitely have different views on this I would not categorize this as an "emotion", myself, though admittedly the term is rather hard for me to define. Agreed, though Brandon's also said it's similar to Subservience, so as I said: I mean, that one's explicitly described to be part of Odium when Dalinar sees the power, though I certainly wouldn't be surprised if it's also in Dominion, as that does sound like it'd fit there too, and I can't imagine the Shards having no overlap, with the Intents we know. The same one that says "human emotion" and "passion" as well? I do not by any means disagree with the fact that things like hatred and fury make up the largest portion and majority of the Shard. But I don't agree that the others make up any particularly insignificant portion.
-
I don't see why it wouldn't, the Shards of Ruin and Preservation are still around. Of course, you'd need an absurd amount to do any real harm, but that's a different problem.

I don't know that I'd really categorize Ambition as an "emotion", myself. Whimsy isn't really a "passionate emotion" in the same way either. And Devotion encompasses more than just emotions as well, though it certainly involves them to a large degree. (Valor being its own Shard is actually kinda confusing to me though, as Odium and Honor together would seem to cover it.)

A few other quotes on this topic: Dalinar seeing its essence: Sja-anat commenting on the Vessel-Shard conflict: Taravangian's Ascension (you already posted part of this): Taravangian describing the power he holds:

Fair enough, these books contain a lot of things to remember, lol

The Sibling directly attributes losing their Light to the imprisonment (RoW 49): Additionally, it's been confirmed that deadeyes did not exist prior to the Recreance, and Kalak seems to see this as related to Ba-Ado-Mishram's capture as well (RoW 115):
-
Sja-anat does seem like she'd be most willing (though I don't think she would actually be willing, just the others would be more unwilling), but I'd say Ba-Ado-Mishram seems most likely to actually be capable of being a Bondsmith spren: Associated with Connection (Connecting to the singers) Produces Light Immense power (provided forms of power to the entire singer race, from the sound of things) Seems crucial to the planet (her imprisonment caused deadeyes to start existing, and the Sibling lost the tones of Honor and Cultivation on her capture)
-
But... it doesn't really offer any reason she'd even grant Bondsmith powers in the first place?
-
I don't see why that would make her a Bondsmith spren?
-
Three at one time. The Sibling at the very least appears to post-date the human arrival to Roshar: I would guess the vast majority of the Unmade were lower in power than that, though. Ba-Ado-Mishram is the only one I feel it's currently supported to say likely was one. To be honest, I'm still not sure why Sja-anat seems to top the list of candidates for most people... her power isn't exactly Bondsmithy, nor have we been given any indication she's necessary in the same way the Stormfather is, or Ba-Ado-Mishram seems to have been. Agreed. Any "Remaking" is imo probably just unmaking with a different kind of Investiture.

Adhesion is of both Honor and Odium
LewsTherinTelescope replied to JesterLavorre's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Brandon was super open about it after HoA. That WoB you have linked where he says that Kel held the power between Leras and Vin was from a Q&A the day after release. Not much time for competing theories to form. (Assuming you mean F-copper, not F-iron) Because we know the F-nicrosil in a medallion does not work like normal F-nicrosil does. Additionally, because we see F-nicrosil being tapped at varying rates and start to run out with the Bands.- 20 replies

Scadrian vs. Rosharan magic post RoW
LewsTherinTelescope replied to NameIess's topic in Cosmere Discussion
A theory a few people on the Discord were considering with this is that perhaps the way Allomancy ordinarily works is by making mist (pre-keyed to an effect, of course) when you burn a metal, which they then use to perform the desired task, which explains both why the pure mists can fuel any Allomantic ability, and why Marasi was leaking mist in that scene (producing way too much of it). (She doesn't actually notice the mist until after she starts burning metals, but it's not clear if she just didn't notice it, if just not enough had leaked yet, or if it actually wasn't there yet.) Edit: to be clear, "making" mist in the same way the Bondsmith spren "make" Light, aka drawing from the Spiritual and for whatever reason it's in that form, not creating from nothing.- 1816 replies

Hell, Szeth could swear to a person. "Code" feels like perhaps too restrictive a word for what the Ideal requires
