The beginning of something much larger

I do like it, it grabs your attention and you want to keep reading. As far as improvements go it’s very choppy, try varying your sentence structure more.- 109 replies

A commentary on Mishim - A possible allusion?
Elsecaller_17.5 replied to TheFoxQR's topic in Stormlight Archive
I definitely think this holds water. We know that Hoid’s other OB story has deep ties to history. “The girl who looked up” is the story of the first desolation. I suspect all of his stories have a tie to history and this is a solid theory to explain how this one ties to history.- 10 replies

Will Mraize hunt Jasnah?
Elsecaller_17.5 replied to Toaster Retribution's topic in Stormlight Archive
Several? I can only remember the one on the ship. As for the rest of it it would depend on what his motive for killing Jasnah is, as far as I’m aware we’re still in the dark on that. -
Could Honor build a Death Star with Battar?
Elsecaller_17.5 replied to Toaster Retribution's topic in Stormlight Archive
Off the top of my head I see two limitations. Firstly identify, a planet (I would argue) doesn’t see itself as a planet but rather a massive collection of things that would each have to be transformed independently. Secondly I suspect that there’s a cap on how much investiture even a shard can produce and how much can be channeled through one source. -

I only have one minor disagreement. Moashadin should have earned an evil axis. -
Axies is in the Endgame now
Elsecaller_17.5 replied to Toaster Retribution's topic in Stormlight Archive
I really don’t want him to die he’s one of my favorite minor characters, and I don’t see a reason to kill him when “he’s just around to have fun.” Few if any people have an emotional attachment to him, so killing him wouldn’t have a big impact. I think he’ll just fade away cause there are other minor characters Brandon wants to showcase. As an aside if we ever get a Cosmere Silmarillion (of course written by Khriss) I’d love to have the chapter on spren influenced by Axie’s studies. -
But it’s not Questioner How are Shallan's Lightweavings related to the screams that Szeth hears? Brandon Sanderson In that they are slightly attached to the Spiritual Realm. Oathbringer Chicago signing (Nov. 21, 2017) I’d say the main problem is twofold. One Shallan doesn’t do it on purpose (yet) it just happens. Two progression raises them to their spiritual ideal not what Shallan sees as their spiritual ideal. Overall I think it has potential but we probably won’t see it for a long time and we wouldn’t get as extreme as effects as actual Forgery.

Honor, Odium, and Cultivation. Hmm, maybe Inure? As for the second one I seriously doubt it.

You’d still have the problem of propulsion and surface area. And the very best maybe she could achieve a glide? You’d probably have to continually shift the slickness to maintain stability.

Pretty straight forward. I got to go with Elothkar’s death. I was so excited that he was swearing the first ideal I had to put the book down for a minute to prepare myself to properly savor the moment. It was a bad time when I picked it back up.

The biggest disadvantage of Cadmium is that you slow down too. It’s been said in the books that burning both in the same area cancel them both out. So does it cancel both entire bubbles or just where they overlap? If the latter could Marasi and Wayne stand together and both burn (and since a cadmium bubble is larger) create an area of normal space surrounded by slowed time?

That’s it! Thank you! Right there! I hadn’t considered she was still spiked! PLOT HOLE AVOIDED!

I know the reasoning behind Honor+Cultivation being Radiance but I don’t like it just because it doesn’t say anything about their intent. I only have rough ideas but maybe Promotion?

That’s a fair point, but Vin had already seen an Inquisitor use F-steel and I think she would assume all of them. At that point it was the endgame anyways, so why not dominate and not worry about tipping your hand early? I promise I’m not being (aggressively) antagonistic. I just really want an answer that makes sense to me.

But he can only control his thoughts and it doesn’t seem that he has control over his powers. In that scene he’s holding back at Ruin’s direction and Ruin takes total control for placing the spike. I don’t know how to add quotes from books but it’s chapter 42. But he still could have captured them. A specific example would be when he fought Vin in Yolen’s chamber. He also could have used just when traveling anywhere or in the big final battle.
-
Seriously I have no idea. We know he has both steel powers so he could, but we never see him do it. The only feasible explanation is that he didn’t know how to, but wouldn’t he have been updated after TLR’s fall or Ruin would have told him?

Or F-Nicrosal Also @robardin why did you start two separate posts, discussing largely the same thing? I like this other one.

I mean, Eshonai is dead, and Venli is really cool, and the first listener Radiant ever. So I got to go with Venli.

It was a theory that got confirmation from Brandon. Questioner Was Syl starting to bond with Tien before he died? Brandon Sanderson No, good question. But Tien was starting to bond a different spren. Questioner I was suspecting that he was bonding a spren, but then Syl says, at one point, I think she was familiar with Kaladin's hometown, so I was like, maybe! Brandon Sanderson Good question, but no, he was going in a different direction. Questioner Can you tell me-- Brandon Sanderson Lightweaver. MisCon 2018 (May 26, 2018)

For those that wonder if Brandon will ever make something like this here’s an answer. Truthwatcher_17.5 Are you ever gonna make an official quiz that sorts people into Knights-- Knights Radiant? Brandon Sanderson You know, I'm less likely to do a quiz and more likely to do a list of-- kind of attributes and traits and requirements. I feel that some people are more likely to be able to sort themselves than a quiz sorting them. Granted, it does depend on the spren also, so there are two parties in this. And so, you don't have absolute influence over which order you might end up in. But it is possible to be viable as a candidate for multiple orders and it also is going to depend on the spren. Idaho Falls signing (Dec. 29, 2018)

I fail to see how that contributes to this conversation nor do I agree with your statement. I’d have to pick Kaladin just because I relate so much to him on a personal level. Rarely have a rooted so hard for a character.
