  1. According to my source: Nixium is 42% cobalt, 58% nickel. Wikipedia mentions nickel-based single-crystal alloys of cobalt on the Cobalt Wikipedia page, so it appears this is one of those. Argentum is 92.5% silver, and 7.5% nickel. It appears to be a specific form of Sterling Silver, called Argentum, for some reason. Makes me wonder if I should design another non-canon metal category based on Nickel itself.
  2. Yes, the ancient Terris runes have that sort of... I wouldn't say "sloppy" per se, or "crude", but they're jagged, with ink splots here and there. If they were red, you bet they would look like blood, so of course I'm gonna use those for Hemalurgy until we get a set of runes dedicated to that instead. Thanks! Good to know I didn't disappoint.
  3. You might notice on the chart that I used the 4 "unknown metal" runes from the steel alphabet (if you've looked up the steel alphabet page on the coppermind), which currently haven't had feruchemical rune variants revealed. So, all 4 of these feruchemical runes are hand-made by me, trying to follow the same logic as the canonic ones. Did I do it right?
  4. I was bored, and, like any normal person would, I decided to make my own, non-canon, hypothetical "quadrant" to add to the three Metallic Arts. I used real metals and alloys of those real metals (including the infamous silver), but these effects could easily be Lerasium alloys' effects instead, if you want them to be more canon. 2 of them would be Physical (Cobalt and Nixium, likely would be alloys of Lerasium and iron/steel), and 2 would be Enhancement (Silver and Argentum, would likely be alloys of aluminum and duralumin). I also have a nice little minimalist chart of these 4 set up, just for the fun of it, and for practicing graphic design for later. I'll elaborate on the brief descriptions of the powers in each of the segments of that chart here. - The quadrant itself is the Mystic metals category. It's a nice catch-all term for the somewhat disparate abilities of the metals, without just being "hybrid" again like Feruchemy's hybrid quadrant. - The Mystic Allomantic metals, as mentioned above, are 2 Physical effects and 2 Enhancement effects. Cobalt/Nixium's effects work by altering the overall velocity of a metallic object within reach. Nixium Pushes the metals, adding to their current velocity. However, like Steel, the Pushes are equal and opposite reactions on the Allomancer as well, as if they themselves were Pushing in the same direction that Nixium is adding the velocity in. So to accelerate an object upwards, the Allomancer will be pushed downwards equally in exchange. - Likewise, Cobalt Pulls on metals, reducing their current velocity, including the inevitable pull of gravity, allowing an allomancer to produce hovering footholds with which to leap between. As with Nixium, Cobalt transfers force to the allomancer, meaning that the taken velocity is added to theirs. This results in the allomancer feeling an increased gravitational pull when stopping a metal object from falling, based on the mass of the object being anchored. - Ahh, Silver, silver, silver... A tricky metal to be sure, and quirky enough to explain why it was (and, is) considered Allomantically Inert by all metalborn. Silver works by channeling its power into the "floodgates" of other metals' power, flowing into and through the Allomancer via their other burning metals. When burned by itself, this effect enters a feedback loop of constricting its own power, which induces a nauseating feeling that is almost completely indistinguishable from the sickness of burning a non-allomantic metal or impure alloy. Burning silver and Duralumin amplifies this issue, as the Silver constricts both the duralumin and itself, while the duralumin forces the Silver to expend itself at astronomical rates, causing the silver constriction to intensify to the point where no power can flow, releasing a huge amount of pent-up allomantic power when the constriction wears off, sickening the allomancer deeply, even killing them. Flaring silver and duralumin will kill an allomancer foolish enough to try it. When properly employed, Silver reduces the power output per gram of metal, which may seem purely negative as Aluminum does, but it comes with the added benefit of making the allomancer's metal resources more difficult to Leech or Nicroburst away, keeping them safe from harm while you have Silver to burn. -Argentum, then, is the opposite. It uses the influx of power from Preservation to widen the "floodgates" of other metals burned alongside it. It enhances the power output per gram of metal, which pairs nicely with Duralumin, giving you a further multiplication on power received per second. It also allows you to be a bit more subtle with your burn rate, keeping a low burn while still getting a fair bit of power out of the metals. As you might guess, Argentum-boosted metals are easier to Leech or Nicroburst away. As well, Argentum Savants are not terribly uncommon among Argentum allomancers, due to the fact that by burning Argentum alone, you can have a positive feedback loop of increasing power flowing through via Argentum widening its own "floodgates" over and over. Benefits of Argentum Savantism include a generally improved power output per gram of metal in all metals that the Savant can burn, and an improved ability to control your metals' burn rates. Drawbacks include an addiction-like dependence on Argentum allomancy, as well as a particular vulnerability to being Nicrobursted. Some speculate that the Argentum Allomancer welcomes the rush of power from a Nicroburst on a subconscious level, being familiarized with it from Argentum Allomancy, though this is unconfirmed. - The Mystic Feruchemical metals, then, are quite fun. Cobalt feruchemy is my personal favorite, as it allows the feruchemist to shrink or grow, like ant-man. Cobaltminds are often worn as bracelets at normal size, rings at large size, and a belt at small size, with their standard "big" and "small" sizes being dependent on when the Cobaltmind fits as such. Cobalt Feruchemy also strengthens the body to prevent it from collapsing at larger sizes from the Square-Cube Law, and to allow mobility even at such sizes, much like how Iron feruchemy strengthens the body to allow movement at great weights. - Nixium Feruchemy is rather odd, as it stores Ionic Energy. Fire, Electricity, both can be stored in Nixiumminds, allowing a Nixium feruchemist to quench flames or deplete batteries and charge their metalminds with that type of energy. One Nixiummind cannot store both fire and electrical energy in it at a time, but multiple Nixiumminds can be employed by a Nixium feruchemist to circumvent this. When tapping, the Nixium Feruchemist can direct the stored energy out of their body, typically through the hands, casting lightning bolts or spouts of flame. It's one of the most visually stunning feruchemical powers, to be sure. The Feruchemist is also protected from electrocuting or burning themselves when tapping. - Silver feruchemy stores Light from a small radius around a feruchemist, typically close to their skin, though further out as they store more aggressively. In an enclosed room with a large amount of uncharged silver, a feruchemist can darken the whole room to pitch-black for some time. Tapping Silver causes the Feruchemist to glow, illuminating the area around them. They are also not blinded by the light emitted from their Silver feruchemy, though others can be, making a quick, aggressive tapping of Silver an effective flashbang, of sorts, disorienting foes. (side note: this unintentionally made a pun of Silver-light. I couldn't pass this up after I realized that.) - Argentum Feruchemy stores Sound, a fitting counterpart to Silver. When storing, the feruchemist and his/her immediate surroundings become muted, with the area affected increasing as they store more aggressively. When tapping, sounds produced by the feruchemist become amplified, moreso the more they tap. With enough stored Sound, the feruchemist can create dangerously loud sounds, which is of particular effect against Tineyes or Windwhispers. The feruchemist is also strengthened to be able to withstand the loud noises they produce, unable to deafen themselves. - Cobalt Hemalurgy steals Mystic Allomantic powers. Pretty simple, just like any other allomancy-stealing spike. - Nixium Hemalurgy steals Mystic Feruchemical Powers, which functions just as expected. - Silver Hemalurgy steals Spiritual Fortitude, which is somewhat complex. A spike will enhance the "can't push/pull on metals inside someone" effect, will reinforce the user against Emotional allomantic possession, and even increases the spike threshold for Shardic possession by a net gain of 1 for every silver spike (of average strength). A Silver Kandra Blessing would make them immune to Emotional allomantic possession, and almost fully immune to Shardic possession, in theory being more trouble than it's worth, requiring too much concentration to break through (if we're talking about Ruin trying to control an army of Kandra, Koloss, and Inquisitors, which, isn't likely to happen again. But a Silver Kandra COULD resist Harmony, if they tried hard enough, though that is in part due to his conflicting Intents, rather than the sheer strength of Silver. - Argentum Hemalurgy Steals Physical Immunity, which is to say, potency of your Immune System, and liver. Diseases, and poisons, are reduced in effectiveness against someone with a Nixium spike. So, what do you guys think? These WOULD be more logical as godmetal alloys, i admit, but the idea was too fun to pass up to stave off boredom.
  5. What sort of mental component are you visualizing there? "Show me the world through X-Rays altered to be visible"? Infrared? Ultraviolet? SOUND?! All of those sound (lol) pretty cool... What if you could make it show you the Cognitive Realm through the lenses?
  6. Finally, someone's figured out how to put this theory into words where I was unable. I knew that reverse compounding would do something like this, but I couldn't find the words to explain it in a way that would make any sense to anyone else... The question is can you burn a metal allomantically with no feruchemical charge and then use the incoming power to charge your metalminds instead of the normal feruchemical attribute? I can see why Miles would never do that, bolstering A-Gold is possibly the most useless metal to do it to other than A-Aluminum. But it would make sense that you could store Steel in Steel, if you get what i mean. Power coming in via the key of Steel's molecular structure could be stored into Steel's molecular structure if the person had the allomancy and feruchemy with the same Identity (which implies that Medallions are going to be a lot cooler than even I had thought). And then what if you re-compound that steelpush-filled steelmind? could you sort of... recursively compound your allomantic power? i imagine you could then store that higher level of power in yet more steel, but actually applying the steelpush as you're burning it would be like a multiplier of power on your allomantic output, yes? Hm... This requires feedback for further theorizing.
  7. Now I'm curious if the knife bestows any magical properties to the wielder like an honorblade, obviously would be a bit redundant if it was the same as his honorblade. Maybe it can hijack the direct connection to Honor and provide Stormlight now? That seems a bit overpowered though...
  8. This reminds me of something from Nausica, fits right in with the creepy factor of that movie...
  9. Verrry interesting. I can see why this theory came to mind, and I do see how all the evidence comes together to suggest it. I would say the biggest parts that have me wanting to believe this is the bit about "fabrials are a part of" cultivation's magic system, and Vyre's knife seeming to trap something (which, if it has been explained, what it is currently escapes me) inside a gemstone, like a spren or stormlight inside a fabrial. What I would be most intrigued by is if you could make a scalpel version of the vyre knife, and, with proper Intent or knowledge, use it to perform similar acts to the boons and curses, by cutting out little scraps of the spiritweb, pruning it, and allowing it to regrow in a new, more powerful way, perhaps nurtured by Cultivationlight to enhance the regrowing spiritweb fragment. This would make it a further parallel to Hemalurgy, then, because like how the key to hemalurgy is the Intent to make a spike and the knowledge of where to put the charged spike into the recipient, the key to this magic would be the intent to cut into the Spiritweb and the knowledge of what parts to prune away, to allow it to grow back better and stronger. Heck, a shard-scalpel might even benefit this, since they don't cut the physical body if the soul is there. It would, however, have the typical drawback of needing to not hit the head or spine, which might limit some of the more dangerous but powerful effects. As well, this would be limited by the knowledge of the practitioner, like hemalurgy, but also limited by the spiritweb of the being that you're cutting into. As well, cuts in the wrong places would have potentially undesirable or even fatal effects, even if not using a Shard-scalpel and hitting the spine/head. Does this sound a little too crazy?
  10. So... Silvereyes could become a thing, for real
  11. I mean... Yes, but also couldn't Harmony/Preservation technically add more metals as keys to the system? I know that Preservation booted two metals off of the system for Atium/malatium mistings to be a thing, but could Harmony now add Silver as an Allomantic metal, as a conscious choice? He was able to replace Atium and malatium with the proper non-god metals for the base 16 metals, and Preservation only kept things at 16 as a sign of his plan, so... Without that requirement, couldn't that be changed? Of course, if silver did become Allomantic, it would be a Pulling metal, so it would need a Pushing alloy and either an internal or external counterpart (depending on if silver is internal or external) with its own Pushing alloy, too. So that means that Harmony would need to make 3 other Allomantic metals in silver's segment/group, right? Wonder what those could be like...
  12. I remember that the Blades and Beasts wiki gave Silver the effect of adding extra power output to other metals burned with it, not quite like duralumin as the Burn Rate was the same as normal, but with Silver, it sort of... copied the power of the other metals and gave you extra effect potency. And if you burned Silver by itself it makes you sick because it has no effect to copy (the same as allomantically inert metals do), and can even kill you if you burn silver with just duralumin, due to the feedback loop. It was part of 4 metals in the Enrichment category of an expanded Allomantic table, too, which is interesting... (oh and silver feruchemy stored "ionic energy" such as electricity. storing it would let the ferring/feruchemist absorb electricity, which makes sense for being an undiscovered feruchemic power because Era 1 feruchemists didn't have electricity to store, and in era 2 they probably assume it's inert because of silver allomancy, i suppose, so they don't bother checking for silver ferrings or twinborns with F-Silver.)
  13. It would be interesting to see that after enough time, she straight up heals herself into Radiant or Veil physically because of her perceptions shifting so strongly. I can see it happening, too, which is a little worrying.
  14. Immunizes you to foreign Investiture? Preventing you from ever entering a state that would cause red to appear (like a Hemalurgic chimera or one of the set's faceless immortals)
  15. Personally I'm still intrigued by Chromium on this chart. Like, what does it even mean, "MIGHT" steal Destiny?? Were they unable to prove it conclusively but still thought there wasn't anything that fit better??
  16. Easy, purges foreign Investiture from you, just like what regular Silver does to other stuff (and turns black and corroded from sponging up all of said foreign Investiture)
  17. Username checks out Agreed. I could double-check though. Also it would just be weird for the god metal of the original "god" of the cosmere to be a real-life metal, instead of a solid manifestation of their Investiture. Atium doesn't have a real-life counterpart. It's basically an "extra" platinum-group metal (according to wob, it's like a platinum group metal), that doesn't fit on the periodic table because it's made of Investiture and not baryons and electrons. ...but then you can still ALLOY IT. WITH REAL METALS. HECK. ...Now I'm just more confused. >:(
  18. Side note, it's always confused me how he never made a copper equivalent to the Koloss. Then again, maybe he assumed something with that much intelligence would find a way to overthrow him in mere weeks or days, so they were too much of a risk.
  19. Well wait, what if you Compounded the Nahel Bond? What in the world would THAT do?? Would you become more tightly-bonded than even a fifth oath radiant? What would that even mean for the magic system?
  20. That's exactly why it needs to be a voluntary practice. And if hemalurgic spikes ARE needed to create Medallions (which I think they are), someone donating their F-Gold at the end of their long, healthy life could save MULTIPLE lives later by temporarily granting a sick or injured patient F-Gold to tap and heal themselves. Or granting someone A-Pewter if those are scarce.
  21. Well since this seems to be the current direction of theorizing, I decided to put together my own set of shards associated with the ten attributes to see if I could find at least a first "draft" of all 10 spots being filled out. The shards named in Green are from Ixthos' theory on what the remaining unnamed shards are, so I figured I ought to make them stand out to make their unofficial status clear. Obviously there could be alternative or better names for them, but these get the point across (and you can go to his theory thread to see what the actual "intent" of these shards are described as, for more clarification).
  22. So wait then [Mistborn]
  23. All this talk of comparing hemalurgic spike donation to organ donation and how it seems like such a dark thing that people wouldn't want, is reminding me of the argument that we shouldn't shun medical practices just because we're afraid of it, that instead we should accept it and find ways to make it as safely practiced as possible, because if nobody is regulating it, then EVERYONE doing it can do it however they see fit, with no rules or guidelines for proper procedure (the example from the original argument was Genetic Modification through CRISPR, and whether or not it should be used to modify human beings for their health or advantage). Basically, "medical hemalurgy" or "hemalurgic donation", whatever it should be called, ought to be a legal thing someone can sign up for like organ donation, with as many rules and guidelines as is necessary to regulate it to a safe, controlled practice, that requires a specific medical license of some sort, so that only the right people are allowed to perform it without consequence. The kind of person you can trust to have a clear judgement on whether or not the patient is clear of mind when they ask to sign up to be spiked, or whether there would be some sort of issue with spiking the donor at the time. A real medical professional, who has studied and trained to be the right person to ask those kinds of questions, not some crazy hemalurgist from the Set or some kind of metalborn black market.
  24. I disagree slightly with that, instead I think it will be more like "I accept that I don't need to protect everyone." It's an acknowledgement that some people are capable of protecting themselves, so that you can focus on protecting the people who do need it.
  25. Literally chills as soon as i read that. where's my aluminum foil hat when i need it...
