Chromium Savants are extremely dangerous !!!
Halyo_Alex replied to Friendshipspren's topic in Mistborn
Well if you wanna get REALLY technical, Matter Investiture and Energy are all interchangeable, so a REALLY rusting strong Leecher could approach Nightblood-level destruction on all 3 realms. You'd probably have to give them a Medallion for Nicrosil Compounding to let them recursively multiply their A-Chromium power, maybe throw in an A-Duralumin medallion, idk, in order to get to THAT level of power. Savantism would likely help in that endeavor, but I worry that savantism of that level would just have them passively erode whatever they touch (other than Aluminum, probably) which means clothing alone would be an ordeal. An aluminum-lined wetsuit underneath (covering most of their skin) could work, though. Like Nightblood's aluminum sheath.- 14 replies

It just occurred to me that Nicrosil ferrings have the potential to become absurdly strong with the advent of Medallions and Unkeyed/Unsealed metalminds. If you can give a metalborn a Medallion for F-Aluminum and F-Nicrosil, they can store their ability to use their metalborn powers inside unkeyed Nicrosil, which a Nicrosil ferring can then tap and use for themselves. (Note that this would be more like an Unkeyed Coppermind, able to transfer distinct powers rather than "ability to burn/tap X metal for Y amount of seconds at Z level of potency" like most Feruchemical reserves) So I don't think this could lead to Nicrosil Ferrings becoming Fullborns with enough cooperative metalborn buddies, but they could certainly become a Nicrosil Compounder which is terrifying enough, and could probably gather up about 16 TOTAL metalborn powers without killing anyone Hemalurgically. They would just have to pick and choose which 16 they want out of the 32 or so total metalborn powers available. They could become a compounder of 8 metals, which... Yep, that's terrifying, or they could pick a few metals that don't overlap (for some reason or another) and have less than 8 compounded metals. I'm also sorry if this has been blatantly obvious to anyone else so far, I tend to do that sort of thing.

so basically, using the Lifeless as a proxy to wield Nightblood, still good at fighting (if you Awaken the right person's corpse) and not going to kill the awakener if the lifeless runs out of Breaths to feed Nightblood with.

What would happen if you lobbed Nightblood into the Dor?
Halyo_Alex replied to Staenbridge's topic in Cosmere Discussion
He does become more Invested from feeding, but it's unclear if that enhances his ability to destroy or not. I don't think he can bond with plate or a blade (living or dead. I doubt he's capable of the kind of personal growth needed to progress oaths, even if bonding with him isn't a death sentence for a Spren). Touching blade or plate... It takes time for him to absorb all the Investiture from stuff he touches, so yeah. I very seriously doubt that theory, for several reasons. But, you do you.- 44 replies

Halyo_Alex replied to Staenbridge's topic in Cosmere Discussion
It might look something like Ati's ascended form (i'm picturing the art on the Coppermind page for Ati) actually, since Nightblood does contain Ruin's Investiture.- 44 replies

Well yeah, I'm just saying the ORIGINAL sword that we call Nightblood right now would likely vanish.- 44 replies

Actually iirc their physical bodies do disappear when ascending, so Nightblood the sword might vanish, but Nightblood the cognitive/spiritual stuff may remain.- 44 replies

"Passive" effects of being an Elantrian
Halyo_Alex replied to Thunder_93's topic in Elantris and Emperor's Soul
Taldain's sun provides the investiture for Sand Mastery, right? That makes me wonder if an Elantrian would basically have to sunbathe for a while to keep their abilities fueled properly. -
Rather concise for a kandra's thoughts but I get what you mean Personally I want it to be Atium so that we can start seeing new ALLOYS of it... Though you'd need a Mistborn to be capable of burning them, unless some people are in fact snapping into Atium alloy mistings. Hmmmmm...

Hmm... Well with the Death Rattle we have on Dai-Gonarthis: "Let me no longer hurt! Let me no longer weep! Dai-gonarthis! The Black Fisher holds my sorrow and consumes it!" It makes me wonder if he would be a legitimate fit with the Elsecallers, as they are all about logic and reason over emotion. What would be more tempting for someone desiring logic than a spren that could literally take away your emotion to let you think clearly. That also does feel like a corruption of a Logicspren. So devoid of emotion that it literally sucks it in from others by force (or by choice, perhaps...).
-
Interesting... So look for Gloryspren around Odium's Champion. OH WAIT... Pathetic jokes aside, those are some really plausible connections there. I wonder if these connections to lesser spren can solidify the Willshapers and Elsecallers' corresponding Unmade.

Dustbringers are Brave/obedient, so maybe he'll attract an Ashspren afterwards

First of all. Holy smokes this is fantastic. May I just applaud your dedication to theorizing all of this. Secondly, wow! I didn't even realize the 3 power limit applied to more than just Medallions. Even for hemalurgic spikes, it never really clicked that it could be the same thing. That alone is cool to notice. Hmm... I do wonder what those missing details on feruchemical primer cube mechanics are. They're not very plain to see with the information we have now, and I'm willing to bet they'll be of at least some importance in TLM. One thing I noticed about the allomantic primer cube effects, it seems to externalize them. A-Chromium goes from needing physical contact to being an AoE, though the other 2 metals (steel and cadmium) are already External metals, so I can't be sure if it's somehow making them "doubly external" metal effects. I highly doubt it. I wonder if that lightweight metal lattice is actually Aluminum or Duralumin, charged with feruchemy and integrated into the ship. It doesn't specify purely Iron feruchemy here, which I think is deliberate. Is there any evidence that Fed doesn't have any amount of Hemalurgic spikes or feruchemical medallions? If not, then she may be using F-Duralumin or F-Aluminum as well as Iron, to... Hmm. To coax the ship's cognitive identity into becoming more pronounced? I'm not sure... Anyway, that's all I've got for now. I'll see what feedback you have for me with all this, and rethink any errors in my reasoning.

To be fair, Allomantic Duralumin is only 4% copper, 96% Aluminum, so it seems pretty rusting likely that it does conserve Aluminum's supernatural property of making things completely non-supernatural

I think what happened to the parshendi was roughly equivalent to a Deadeye spren. Spren and person (human or Parshendi) bond together, but in the case of the Radiant and their spren in shardblade form, the spren gets spiritual stuff ripped out of them that they need to function normally as a result of the human breaking their oaths. for the parshendi, it seems that sealing away Ba-Ado-Mishram reversed the roles, ripping spiritual stuff out of them instead. Possibly leaving it all with B-A-M inside the gemstone. Then the Everstorm came along and provided Investiture to heal the damage to the Parshmen's spiritwebs... Aw crap, does this mean that Odium (or, say, Sja-Anat, with her ability to Enlighten Spren) can revive Deadeyes? Is THAT what Glys is?? Storms...

I'm searching through the Arcanum for WoBs on that. So far I've found this one. Aaand that seems to be it for Wobs containing the word "duralumin" that are relevant to it retaining Aluminum's anti-investiture properties. So basically, there's no wobs confirming it. Checking the coppermind page on it, it doesn't have anything on it there, either. So we have no idea for sure.

Oh, okay, that actually sounds plausible. And more importantly, Aluminum can block a shardblade by default, you don't even need to cram it full of Identity feruchemical charge. Aluminum negates the Roshardblade (lol) supernatural cutting ability, meaning it requires regular cutting physics to cut through Aluminum. So Aluminum foil won't mysteriously block a shardblade, but a big, beefy aluminum sword could, probably. It'd dent, for sure, but it'd be like using a regular sword shaped like a shardblade to cut aluminum.

Well so are Spren, and yet [SA Spoiler]
-
Just for the heck of it (and because I needed something to draw before I go nuts) I decided to draw my theoretical Perfect Mindblade (The kind that acts as a Medallion and has Ettmetal on it). The Nicrosil is a medallion-like setup that contains A-Pewter and F-Iron, which is given to the user so that they can prime the Ettmetal to mimic both, reducing weight and enhancing the durability of the sword, like a Rosharan Shardblade. It's not as light or truly unbreakable like one, but it's an improvement over mundane steel to be sure.

Somehow reveal that [SA spoiler] are pulling the strings for the highest levels of the Set?
-
Yeah, that seems like the simplest result. You're probably right, since Shallan was using tons of stormlight in Thaylen Field and was able to make semi-tangible illusions.
-
Maybe the actual disguise would come out... better? More real (which with Shallan would be disastrous and would probably make her multiple personality problems even worse). More... Complete?? Idk how to phrase it but like it'd be more than just... an illusion based on a drawing overlayed on her.

Illumination: Could make an incredibly quick pulse of laser light, even gamma rays, to just really mess someone up. Transportation: Might be the boost you need to Transport from CR to PR (as we've gotten WoB that Jasnah couldn't just Transport herself back out after jumping to the CR from the boat). Transformation: Probably works a bit like duralumin + brass/zinc on a spiked being, but less dramatic and "total control"-y. Basically just powers through the object's will and forces it to change, from the sheer "pressure" of investiture being forced into it.

One of the best book-to-film adaptations I know of is The Martian. Apparently it's one of the most faithful adaptations out there, and the film version WORKS, really well. It doesn't feel clunky, and it makes sense in film form too.

Although Vin was pretty often burning Tin when she was out in the Mists, wasn't she? And possibly using Bronze at the same time... Oh wait, she can already pierce copperclouds, so she might not have noticed.
