Theory time: (well, really more of something I found interesting) When Adolin is healed by renarin, he sees a vision of his perfect self. The truth watchers have a combination of Illumination and Progression. My thought is that progression and illumination combine to show the perfect self, and then bring the healed part over from that’s perfect self. Sort of like (massive Reckoners Spoiler) how But wait, where are you gonna getting this from? Enlightenment was a big thing in the middle ages through the 1900s that referred to the achievement of perfect society through several principles. Enlightenment was also called illumination. Coincidence? I think not. They could use illumination to find the perfect self, and then heal accordingly. This has limits- like how Kaladin couldn’t get tattoos because he didn’t see them as part of himself, or that his brands wouldn’t heal. TL; DR Truthwatchers use spiritual illumination and physical progression to heal people.

Why are the UK covers so pretty? Much better than the ‘mercian ones.

“Okay then. I’m going to go eat some cake.” she said. She ate cake. Cake was good for ignoring drama.

He’ll be fine. said bookish, running full speed off the edge of a cliff into a volcano strapped to a dynamite filled shark.

“But uh, there isn’t really wierdness between me and FLid. He just likes me.” right? that’s all it is. most definitely not Onyx stated inside Leona’s head “Shut up.” Then, realizing how that must have come off to poor Rob, “Sorry, that was meant for my spren.”

The Allomantic Alcubierre Drive (FTL)
Bookish Ocelot replied to Steeldancer's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Redshift only starts occurring at really really large distances. Like The-Universe-Expanding—Over-Hundred-Year’s distances. We can use redshift to measure how far away a thing is getting from Earth. But it usually isn’t visible to the human eye. It’s done with a spectrogram. -

Sapphire and topaz are both blue. (technically topaz can be many other colors, but it is blue on the surgebinding chart.) Smokestone is grayish. How do you even make gray light?

Fifth Oath Achieves Secondary Divine Attribute
Bookish Ocelot replied to Confused's topic in Stormlight Archive
Vorinism follows the ten heralds, who were originally the leaders of the orders of Knights Radiant. It stands to reason that the Heralds would continue to be associated with the attributes of their respective Orders. My thought is that each oath sworn (after the first) starts to bridge the gap between the attributes. Or it could be that the first two are for one attribute, and the second two for the other. -

Brandon Sanderson is a wonderful writer, and I aspire to write as well as he does some day. He’s published about 20 books- some over 800 pages - in ten(ish) years. All very high quality. I can read and reread his books over and over and always find something new. The characters and universe are extremely well developed. The fandom is extensive -there’s fan fiction, fan art, RPs, a dedicated forum - and polite, a combination not often seen. Brandon also interacts extensively with his fans, running a blog, doing AMAs on reddit, holding question sessions, signings, and so on. We have struck gold with Brandon.

“So uh, just keep doing that. Like all the time. Then you can use it at a later date for your surges. Your physical attributes -speed, endurance, strength, the time you can go without breathing, how far you can jump- are increased by virtue of your being a radiant. You also heal because of stormlight.” Leona smiled. “It’s pretty great. I can outrun like everyone in PE and before I bonded Onyx, I was a barely faster than a lethargic snail trapped in maple syrup dragging an 18-wheeler.”

“So you passively generate stormlight, like all Radiants. It’s a matter of subtly concentrating to get it to store instead of floating away.” Leona said. “Like this.” She exhaled, and a small glowing tendril of mist exited her mouth, and swirled into her ring, which now glowed brighter. ”Now you try.”

Well if the royal locks could be used for awakening, that opens up a whole host of possibilities. The royal locks are passed down through a family that traditionally marries a daughter off to a really powerful awakener. (The god King), which uses color. If you could make your hair a really bright red, then chop it off, and regrow it, you have an almost unlimited source of awakening fuel. (Think Vivenna)
