We know there are deathspren. You could probably just zap people with an attractor/enhanceor fabrial.

I do not think Hessina could have amassed that many books while at Harthstone. Her location is too remote and books are too expensive(this is pre printing presses).

Elhokar is dead.

The canton of inquisition was greatly feared by the nobility. They also had trained assassins. I bet the nobility would care deeply just as business don't want either law enforcement or their rivals knowing much of anything about their doings.

I honestly can't believe that Dalinar did not try and parley with the enemy and ask for terms. It seems like the sort of thing the codes require.

What options did the Listeners, specifically Venli have?
Karger replied to Oltux72's topic in Stormlight Archive
The Alethi already know that and Eshonai knows that they know. The only reason that the battle has been prolonged is because of gemhearts. A reasonable settlement would allow the Alethi to continue hunting. The fact that Eshonai admits what the Alethi already know(parshe numbers are shrinking at an unsustainable rate) might increase Alethi moral on the short term but in the advent of a negotiation failure it would not change much. Additionally Eshonai could have learned a substantial amount about the Alethi based on their demands and the open lines of communications would allow wartime negotiations(like surrender being recognised). I had not thought of the first point. That would be devastating to Sadeas's strategy. To your second if the Alethi can gain the economic advantage without continuing to pay soldiers the pressure to gain and adhere to a peace agreement would be strong. He kind of is. Dalinar pointed out that the execution of the parshendi leader(s)(the five) along with Eshonai herself would probably fulfill the oath of vengeance. If they also agreed to recognize Alethi conquest over the plains(in exchange for some way of producing food) they could have done alright as a subject people. The fused at best would just be another group of conquerors. In my view they are in fact worse then the Alethi(they would probably have not forced the parshe into different forms based on Odium's need). -
Soother. It is advantageous in social situations and humans have difficulty responding to or thinking about both emotional and physical threats simultaneously.

Eshonai should have sued for peace earlier. It would have cost her nothing to ask for terms. She also should have put more effort into intelligence gathering. She had the method. If Rlain had reported in a few months earlier she could have countered Sadeas's tactics with ease and would even have understood some of Alethi politics. -
Taln has given humanity 4500 years without even monsters destroying the entire planet at the cost of his own mind. I think he deserves a break. On top of that he deserves a beer and some nice drinking buddies. What else does Taln deserve?

spoiler Did Gavilar have a change of heart?
Karger replied to thejopen27's topic in Stormlight Archive
We have no indication that all nine unmade are of equal "size." Yalig-nar only provided a large power boost to a single individual. The thrill effected entire armies but Ba-Ado-Mishram connected to the entire parshe people. It stands to reason that she is a much greater spren. -
I do not think that accurate. Bondsmiths are elder statesmen. They might be religiously inclined but the majority are political scientists. Not exactly. There were thousands of them. We saw that small teams of radiants were often deployed as special forces. I agree that they often functioned in conjunction with other forces but not always. We know attacking fortresses happened frequently during Gavilar's reunification campaign. I see no reason it would have been different here. Singers probably had less fortifications(no oathgates) but they would definitely have been attacks on fortified cities and positions.

Welcome!

I actually think the GB may have arranged Tien's death or at least taken advantage of him to grab the cryptic that was trying to bond at the time. Kaladin himself knocks that in his battle with Amaram. He did not become a great leader, warrior and radiant because the pain made him. He became one because of the trust, support, and faith of those who counted on him. He is everything he is because of them.

OB chapter releases started 91 days prior and released two to three chapters a week once per week. We currently are at 139 days until release. -

I believe mid august at the earliest is the consensus for his normal chapter releases. By then the first part of the book should be up to standard. -
Define directly. Maybe Skybreakers just make lightning.
-
It really depends. If you break enough air molecules you will probably get lightning. At least the process might resemble that more then burning.

the way of kings Should Jasnah killed the 4 men in The Way Of Kings?
Karger replied to Death spren's topic in Stormlight Archive
It allows him to solve a problem without expending political capital. That absolutely qualifies as a favor in my book. Taravangian may not be an overtly powerful king but he still is a king. If he really wanted to he could probably make an enormous fuss and get that entire city block torn apart. Doing so however would expend a huge amount of goodwill and make his subjects less likely to obey him. Jasnah solving the problem on her own initiative makes it so the problem is solved. I think it more likely that Jasnah is referring to politics in general. Remember she was an effective political operator for years and in her notes just said that Sadeas was intelligent but not to be trusted. -
This is a great theory. A Tien coming back up would do wonders for Kaladin's moral but I personally doubt it would happen. I do find it probable that the sleepless were keeping an eye on Tien prior to his death(they do that to a lot of Radiants) but I don't think he was working with them.
