Jasnah does not lack emotions she is just less comfortable then others in letting others see her display them. She freely admits to Ivory that she has let emotions rule her during her OB PoV. I would like a bit of context though. Shallan rubs Jasnah the wrong way. They both have a great deal of respect for each other but at the same time they find it annoying just to be in the same room. Shallan has basically no control over her impulses and considers objective truth something like a myth. Jasnah conversely seeks objectivity above all else. She initially didn't want to hire Shallan but decided she was too useful to let go. During this period she felt responsible for hurting Shallan and driving her to temporary madness. Considering her own fears of insanity and her experiences with it this would have cut deeply. Her afterwards tantrum was caused by being wrong(Jasnah's other pet peeve) but once again Shallan is too useful to let go. "Lets practice note taking" is Jasnah's version of treating Shallan like normal/a colleague but as usual it doesn't work very well. Her interactions with her other friends and family members are much more consistent by comparison.

Lack of time and resources. When every broam is needed for regrowth fabrails you don't have the leeway to go off after the possibility that maybe you can finally win this time. Remember humans are just as close if not closer to collapse at this point. I'm not saying it was never tried I just doubt it would be successful. Also the unmade were still around and didn't loose any battle strength. Radiants are needed to counter that too. Also famine is a problem and poor sanitation and total collapse of public order, and remaining fused and... Well there is just too much else that needs to be done.

You can go back and reread but I believe it is made quite clear. Basically you need an initial energy input to make the entire thing work. We don't know what happens. IIRC Brandon RAFOed.

No power from Ruin does come in. It is still end negative due to the inefficiency. Ruin's power is just priming everything. I understand hemalurgy to be similar in nature to organ transplants. Assuming a willing donor then your biggest problem is how the recipient's body will react to the implant. Blanking identity will help to some degree as it should minimize your odds of having rejection and help the charge assimilate a bit better. I would also recommend flaring aluminum as a step similar to antibiotics. Ideally you would also want an artificial soul(similar to awakening maybe) but what you are really asking is how to get rid of the surgical scars and that is kind of tricky. Even the best practitioners nowadays aren't perfect. Fundamentally bodies break down and even replacing parts comes with risks and consequences. Your adding on new parts so I'm not sure any way to do so perfectly even exists.

Adolin seems to have done something similar during RoW. Rosharans have a certain amount of extra investiture which is why they are a bit healthier then normal. Kaladin might just have a particular affinity for this which might explain his seasonal depression to some degree. Think of it as a high radiant aptitude caused by his physiology and psychology.

This is actually the one thing I can say that is absolutely false. Jasnah would not consider taking such actions based on her mood. She always strives to make rational choices when confronted with a potentially problematic or dangerous choice. She didn't consider her sister in law family and thought her cousin was dangerous. In either case their actions could have been disastrous for the cause she serves. Jasnah does not generally lie although she does not tell everything she knows. Betrayal in of itself can be an act of loyalty. Pretty sure that was Ivory(Jasnah's spren). What information? She told Dalinar everything she knew about her father's murder and even read WoKs to him. If you mean in general then she likely doesn't confide Dalinar about everything because as an honorable person information she has might prompt him to take actions that would not be beneficial to her goals. Information. As much as she can. Hoid's goals are different from hers so if she has intel she can use against him then keeping it in reserve is a good idea. Jasnah rejects marriage and hates teaching so founding a dynasty is out. She is working on the fate of the cosmere and a better roshar. We know she is not immune to arrogance but I hope she does not follow her father. She is explicitly loyal to her family even if this means taking actions that some members might disapprove of. I would also say she is in fact more loyal to her own country then any other monarch in alethi history as she is making active strives to improve it at the expense of her popularity. Maximizing utility are means to those ends not ends in of themselves. What she claims to be most loyal to is "the greatest good for the greatest number." I suppose you could call this her guiding principle.

The Herald's goals were not their own survival but rather minimizing human casualties. Singers can survive more easily in the hinterlands then humans can. Additionally the radiants were focused on reviving human society and preventing its total collapse post devastation. Not much time for attempted genocide(thankfully). I think it is less "super speed" then "optimized movement." He isn't the flash but more like batman. Yeah extra investiture does make them a bit faster but the real deal is that his motions are right out of the spiritual realm(perfect). Taln is also famous for his heroic deaths. If a Herald is given the option to die but limit human casualties at the same time then ideally they would take it. Singers must have become adapt at hiding their settlements from overhead observation. Roshar's rocky and ever altering terrain would help a lot with this as would regularly changing locations. Remember settlements on roshar are generally made out of crem and at least partially underground. That is to say the same substance as the ground and at ground level. Good luck spotting that if you don't know where to look. Taking on a mission and completing it to the satisfaction of your spren. We don't know for a fact that all fused are killed each desolation. In fact I'm willing to bet a couple stuck around for a while. Same for forms of power. That is simply not a good use of a skybreaker's time when public order is collapsing. I would want that skybreaker patrolling human settlements and keeping them from fighting each other not wiping out random villages of outsiders. Even ignoring the moral implications your talking about preparing for the future rather then solving immediate problems. Humans are terrible at that.

The stormfather claimed that humans could not deal with the fused even before the fused learned how to surgebind(way back in OB). The problem with the fused is not that they can fight radiants as equals. The problem is that they have a lower attrition rate then any army in real world history. They can turn any civilian(including the old, the infirm, youths, and other noncombatants) into veteran soldiers. This effectively means that their army is the size of their population. A small group of elites cannot keep up with that indefinitely. Inevitably they will fall apart due to exhaustion if nothing else. It took Kaladin almost a year to train dedicated soldiers up to the third ideal. Fused just respawn faster then radiants can train.

Chromine - A "magic system" for a pet project of mine
Karger replied to Inky's topic in Creator's Corner
Ether. It would move your magic system away from science but it is the outdated theory that described how information propagated through space. So it basically speeds up cell replication? Also I noticed you don't have anything for air. Still a fun magic system. -
Can Regular Unsealed Metalminds Allow Compounding?
Karger replied to Trusk'our's question in Cosmere Q&A
Thing is that any one or two feruchemical powers are pretty beatable as weaponry gets more advanced. Additionally switching leaves you vulnerable like a video game boss. In short while it is a problem it is not unsolvable.- 6 replies

The everstorm has a spren. Everything in the universe thinks about itself as is though about by others. If it does not then it cannot really be said to exist. A synthetic gemstone is possible although rosharans don't know how to make them just yet. Imprisoning large spren is possible. It is also generally a very bad idea as a certain even in rosharan history makes abundantly clear.

Can Regular Unsealed Metalminds Allow Compounding?
Karger replied to Trusk'our's question in Cosmere Q&A
To your first question. We know of no reason why they cannot work this way. In fact there exists some evidence that they do given the existence of large quantities of freely available feruchemical attributes on the southerner's ship. The problem is that you cannot make use of multiple unsealed metalminds at the same time so you cannot freely compound multiple attributes simultaneously.- 6 replies

How Much Investiture is Lost When Compressing Feruchemical Attributes?
Karger replied to Trusk'our's question in Cosmere Q&A
Well sadly the answer will very between Feruchemists based on experience, aptitude and situation. We don't actually know much about Fortune itself. I have a theory about it here but that is just some guesswork I came up with based on some vague hints. Brandon has been coy about canonizing anything. I do believe that coppermind storage can be used at a high degree of efficiency(something like 90% although I can't find the WoB atm). So in order to gain 50 times the normal amount of fortune for one second you could probably accomplish that in a few minutes. Unfortunately the effects would probably not show themselves in any significant way although you would catch the attention of every shard in the system and maybe of the spren or gods if you were on Roshar and Nalthis respectively. -
Sadly Brandon likes to troll us. Unless he actually confirms the answer I don't think a RAFO with a wink confirms much of anything.

You are correct.

I would say that Preservation would still be fueling the ability. Ruin supplies the investiture needed to make the acquisition of a spike possible. In general Ruin does not like to output large amounts of energy for any reason.

[Poll] [Discuss] Did Jasnah do the right thing?
Karger replied to Szeth Pancakes's topic in Stormlight Archive
Her intention was clearly to give herself just cause to act in self defense. Jasnah's intention was to kill those four men. Under the circumstances you may or may not consider her behavior justified. Those four would almost certainly have killed her if given the opportunity and most people would say Jasnah was within her rights to defend her own life regardless of her intentions. I personally think that since she could easily have just immobilized them and handed them over to the authorities that her actions were unethical as she personally made the decision to kill when she did not have to.- 249 replies

I liked the interludes but not my favorite skyward novel. Still good though. It was nice seeing the rat slayer cut loose as champion pirate. The additional lore was good too.

I don't recall that either.

Source? All three moons seem to predate Honor and Cultivation

It is not a profoundly silly question. Evidence points to no though. Using cosmere linguistics Ba-Ado-Mishram's name seems to indicate something along the lines of "child of the light of Mishim"(Mishim being the moon Wit told his story about)

Felt a bit like a low budget trailer but a worthwhile read. Objective score B/B+. Brandon adjusted score C/C+.

Think of Kandra as the software that runs on the mistwraith hardware. Koloss are human software but the hardware has been heavily modified(to the point where most of the original programing does not work). Mistrwaiths don't normally support Kandra software and must be modified with hemalurgy to run propperly. If you destroy the hardware of a physical being the software goes to the beyond. It is possible to tamper with or remove the software in either case and leave the hardware behind but in the cases you are talking about the hardware is destroyed both times. Once freed from incompatible hardware the koloss revert to their original specs.

The honorspren at least would not mind the broken oath as much as the work Kelek had done in the past. Self sacrifice would probably appeal to them and they are less bothered by human failings. Additionally humans regard the Heralds as paragons of honorable behavoir so that might play a role. I imagine the highspren are somewhat less pleased, the inkspren would view them as useful sources of information, and the stonespren would try and give them pep talks. Welcome.
