What we learn about the people the protagonists meet in SP4
Karger replied to Oltux72's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Perpendicularities do open there sometimes. They don't seem to turn into CS when they die though(or if they do something happens to prevent them sticking around). Perhaps the sun is so invested that it kind of burns them away? -
Brandon must die at least once during each adaptation. Ideally multiple times but that might be too difficult for his schedule. I think a better idea might be that every time an extra dies during production we make note of it and then choose one at random to stick Brandon in.

Brandon's announcement video tomorrow
Karger replied to Ixthos's topic in General Brandon Discussion
Looks at odd video announcement. Two minutes later. What did I purchase? I just saw Brandon was having a kickstarter so I clicked. -
Quite possible.

Lost Metal Chapter 2 Spoilers: The what medallion?
Karger replied to Elsecaller_17.5's topic in Mistborn
Silver probably describes the color not the metal. It could also be a mistake. -
For conventional tec smart money says scadrial. Roshar seems ahead on magitec though. Of course the IRE and Silverlight both have greater theoretical understandings of magic and this sometimes does means better tec although calling it tec can be a bit misleading.

According to Jasnah only around a quarter of radiants were directly involved in combat. Remember as well that humans were not a monolith. Radiants were also needed to help prevent conflicts between groups of humans. How exactly are these radiants supposed to find fused that spend all day hovering a mile off the ground or a full hundred meters under it? Some fused look like rocks when motionless and other can disguise themselves as human. A suicide mission by any of these can result in catastrophic damage so radiants would be needed to guard against attacks at all times. Genocide might have been debated at times but it is simply too difficult, dangerous, time consuming, and expensive even ignoring that it is morally reprehensible.

I refer to innate investiture as potential investiture(even though Brandon uses different and more confusing terminology). Mass and energy cannot exist without a spiritual counterpart created from investiture. If something has no investiture it cannot be said to exist. In our world all their spiritual component does is permit something to exist but on a shardworld they have a little extra so they "exist" a little more. What Kaladin is doing when he outputs his own investiture is burning through his "existence" more rapidly. He thus takes more time to recover.
-
I think you need to alter your perspective. Investiture is what determines if something exists. If the total sum of my innate investiture is 100 then some portion is devoted to any given attribute. If 5 unites of investiture are used to give me strength x then as a feruchemist I can instead reroute 2 unites to my metalminds and get by with a strength of 3 for a time. When using your body you are also making use of your investiture. Even the univested could use half a unite to lift something heavy. It then returns like a breath when no longer used.

I think you are focusing too much on combat. Flashy battles are obvious but most of human history is really effected by smaller things. Ultimately the fate of a culture or nation is more dependent on its ability to acquire sufficient food and shelter to support itself. Military might only matters afterwards.

What is your Cultivation+Odium name?[Poll]
Karger replied to Frustration's topic in Stormlight Archive
Back when the book first came out I coined the term "wildlight" as the term "wild" can refer to either an out of control personality or out of control natural growth. I actually agree with the term "towerlight" as towers are symbols of civilization and culture which is what the sibling was supposed to be. Stormlight is a bit stranger but on roshar nothing works without storms. So to a rosharan storm implies both power and "thing working." -
Sleightly Very Obsessed (not 'Slightly' Obsessed)
Karger replied to Kandrafish's topic in Introduce Yourself!
Welcome. Your only choice is to increase your obsession and add new acolytes to the cosmere religion. Am I understood my apprentice? -
IDK seems fairly clear to me that Ruin is involved but I have been wrong before.

I agree that under specific circumstances Jasnah would agree to serve TOdium. However Dalinar recently made a similar agreement. Jasnah would not serve him out of a personal desire for power, accomplishment or safety(which is how betrayal is usually defined) but rather because she could not find any better options. Lirin willingly served the fused for a while for the same reason and with a similar rational.

A boy can only hope. In all honesty I think Kaladin's choice when prevented with such an individual would be quite interesting. Is it more merciful to let Moash take the easy way out or more honorable to keep him around and try and help him? Should Kaladin strive to accept Moash's understanding of moral behavior and apply that to him or should he retain his own standards and use that to guide his actions?
-
Moash is less a person and more of a science experiment at this point. I more interesting end for him would be TOdium just returning his feelings to him and just leaving him there. Kaladin could then do the honorable thing and chop whatever is left of Moash at that point into nice little bits.

They do. Wax wears one in fact.

Sounds kind of dangerous. Might have effects similar to savantism but without many of the benefits. Do it too long and you probably become addicted and can't leave.

I'm pretty sure that is what snapping is.

Is it? Don't Rosharans naturally burn through that extra investiture when under great physical strain? Kaladin has that + an actual outlet for the power. Dalinar seems to do something similar with the thrill during his younger PoVs.
