  1. Also on a side note we know that their were spren bows but what did the radiants use for arrows? Regular arrows?
  2. If the spren can spread out then why are their no shard shields? Anyone have a good answer?
  3. We have a Wob that Atium was available and you can make malatuim if you have it. Hoid has many abilities though so he could have been doing a variety of things.
  4. This has been bugging me for a while but after listening to Shardcast and looking throughout this site I have found only one theory about what shardplate is and how it was made. I am not doubting the coolness of the lesser spren form shardplate at the command of a radiant theory but the fact that no one seems to have come up with any other thoery that will stand up to scrutiny is unacceptable. I am creating this thread so that any who have other theories may give them publicity and submit them to review and I would like for us as a community to try and work at least one theory into a form that would work. Come on members of the 17th shard! What have you got?
  5. The dark side of Taldain is mostly ruled by a warlord who keeps people from using any kind of tech and restricts travel and the free flow of information. People on Sel have access to a truly frightening amount of investiture that can do whatever they require it to. Also who says they are progressing slowly? It took earth more then a few years to get from gunpowder to automobiles.
  6. Maybe Timbre does not yet remember her name she has not actually been bonded for that long.
  7. Syl is the ancient daughter the beloved child of the stormfather himself this makes her specifically important not all honorspren. We know that cryprics rule one of the large important cities in shadesmar and I think that anyone with a voirin education would have a hard time believing that a race that rules a city is not somehow nobility. The statement think of them as spren lighteyes probably comes more from Jasnah's personal biases then anything else. (As a side note any ideas about cryptic city's name? True Fable? Untold Story?) Spren probably do view each other as either inferior or superior based on race (Wyndel mentions his people or unimportant for example) but I don't think we are going to get much on them any time soon. We know of 10 types of sapient spren capable of bonding and we have seen spren that are sapient but incapable but we don't know how many their are total.
  8. Shallash mentions Adonalsium in OB implying that her people know about the shattering. This indicates that they are either quite old or more cosmere aware then I have given them credit for.
  9. What? When has he done that?
  10. Agread Vin should have ended up with Spook Also anyone else noticed the lack of upvotes around places like this but the plethora in positive or lovey threads?
  11. What kind of knowledge are the people obviously without? What would similar people have learned if it was not so easy for them? Agricultural? Theoretical physics? Aviation? Medicine? What is the education of the average citizen? (Come on we know nothing about the Gen Ed requirements) What is the life expectancy? What do the Kandra do when not on missions? Play charades? How did Khriss manage to get there? What exactly is the political arrangement between the Elendel and its surrounding cities?
  12. Our current understanding of vessels indicates that any being with attachments to all three realms (or in Kel's case 2) can be a vessel for shardic power. Also I believe Edgi the holder of Endowment is a dragon.
  13. Shallan probably benefits from a relationship that expects her to be honest and that is loving enough to accept her as she is. Also Adolin makes her happy something that she has had a hard time being while on her own. Kaladin is happiest when he can make someone else happy or safe and he does that best in his current position as a bodyguard. Also as much as I hate to say this in his current state I doubt that Kaladin would make a particularly good partner. He has not yet learned to respect the decisions of others.
  14. The thrill is not actually malevolent and if used judiciously maybe in consort with other emotion fabrials it could prove a tremendous asset in battle.
  15. Her name is Khrissalla better known as Khriss
  16. I am not tryng to ruin the thread only to widen the discourse. I have no trouble with you hating Adolin but that does not mean that I will not object to interpretations of the character that I find flawed.
  17. Shallan is in love. Of course it is going to be horrible to everyone around her. That is fairly normal for newlyweds and why the English language contains the phrase "get a room." Adolin is supposed to be what Dalnar considers perfect but of course he is not because he is a human being. He looks perfect but he clearly is not and it is the contrast between the two that makes him interesting.
  18. I personally think the 4th is either the ideal of inspiration or trust. To act in a way that shows others the meanings of your ideals or to trust others to follow your ideals(or their own) and that being OK.
  19. I personally always thought that it meant that you understood the purpose of the law to create harmony in society and so could alter or even break laws in order to aid the community. Let us not derail the thread though this is a theory does it make scene or not?
  20. We know that Nale is of the 5th ideal and that the ideal allows the Skybreaker to become the law but we do not have any idea what it actually means to become the law even subjectively.
  21. thank you I am not realy sure what that means or how it applies and we don't have anything to compare it to.
  22. So far we do only know a few of the different oaths that Radiants swear however I believe that there exists something of a pattern that exists across the different oaths. The one exception I must make is the Lightweavers who swear truths and not oaths. The first ideal is the ideal of Radiance "Life before death. Strength before weakness. Journey before destination." This ideal is the same for all Radiant regardless of their order although it has many different interpretations. The second oath however starts a pattern. We only know about 6 all 10 orders oaths however they oaths do seem similar. "I will protect those who cannot protect themselves." (Windrunners) "I swear to seek justice, to let it guide me, until I find a more perfect Ideal."(Skybreakers). "I will remember those who have been forgotten"(Edgedancers) "I will unite instead of divide. I will bring men together"(Bondsmiths) Finally we think the stonewards swear something like "I will stand where others fall" although this is not cannon. Together I would like to categorize these ideals as ideals of service. The purpose of all of these seems to be that the Radiant is question understands how to and why they can benefit the community in some way. They also must have the ability to articulate it to their spren. I would not be surprised if the other orders also follow this pattern. The third oath is a bit trickier but I think that the pattern continues. "I will protect even those I hate, so long as it is right"(Windrunners). The Skybreakers have an ideal of law swearing themselves to a specific code and the Bondsmiths seem to swear the oath of either responsibility or self improvement. "I will listen to those who have been ignored."(Edgedancers). I would like to catagorize these as oaths of improvement. In this the Radiant articulates to themselves and their spren that they will better themselves swearing to an ideal that will guide their behavior, how they plan to act, and the person they want to be. We do not know much about the forth ideal but if I am right about them being grouped across orders then the Skybreaker ideal of crusade looks to me like an ideal of action. In this the Radiant explains to their spren that they are going in some way to be proactive working to instill the ideals they follow in others by showing an example of what they should be. I know nothing about the 5th ideal although I suspect it has something to do with balance just because it never seems to be addressed in any other ideal and it seems kind of necessary to any functional society. Am I on to something? Making things up? Thoughts?
  23. If people think that Kelek is the stormfather then his breath would be hurricane force winds. Ishar is also the herald of priests so swearing by him might not be appropriate. We do regularly see people pray to him.
  24. He has a shardblade so he can cut rocks out of the ground if he needs to and can't find them.
  25. It might also be that cows and goats did not survive the crossing. In several island nations only pigs are kept.
