  1. "Give me an audience who have come to be entertained, but who expect nothing special. To them, I will be a god. That is the best truth I know.”
  2. I guess no reason I just assumed so.
  3. That is still not confirmation.
  4. I believe so. At the barrier energy is pulled into or out of the spiritual realm(depending on bubble). This is one of the reasons that shooting into or out of them is next to impossible to do accurately.
  5. Think of space like a conveyor belt. Nothing on the belt can go faster then light but nothing governs how fast the belt itself can move. When opening a bubble its like stretching the belt so that everything takes longer. Excess energy is pulled into and out of the spiritual realm to account for Redshift at the boundary.
  6. Fair points above. Knowing about a designer can often tell us much about a system I just do not want this to become and Adonalsium theory thread. However I do not think that your statement is necessarily true. Humans figured out the system and importance of ecology long before we discovered the evolutionary process that created it. We do understand much about our universe and yet I for one know of know sane human who claims to fully understand God. We are like the modern Radiants exploring Urithiru. They know to some extent the Tower's capabilities and from those they were able to speculate (perhaps accurately) as to its function. We may never fully understand Adonalsium but that does not mean that we cannot know(to some extent) "his" purpose in designing Roshar. Don't the multiple WoBs about Roshar's purpose indicate otherwise?
  7. We are of course assuming that Adonalsium was a being as apposed to something like a force. He could for example have just been carrying out instructions or acting via instinct. If he was a being then I am going under the assumption that as a being he was fallible. I could be wrong of course but this is kind of a moot point at the moment. Also please do not derail the thread(not a message to you specifically just a reminder not to get to far off track).
  8. Strangulation would work, some kinds of poison(their are types that will kill some animals but not effect humans and if you can feed it to them you are good), building traps of the right kind(if you set off a trap you are drawing your own blood which is fine) their are ways to kill things without you drawing the blood personally.
  9. Rubies and Garnets are basically the same color.
  10. Of course of course...
  11. Nice name have cookie.
  12. I do not think so. I believe Alone's device stored connection and was likely specially made for bonding Preservation. Riino has a couple devices one stores investiture and another that allows him to see the future. Neither has much to do with connection(As I understand them). They may easily both have been created via the Dor however it is likely that they used different processes in each case(the difference between making both a shovel and a spear out of wood).
  13. Lirin follows a Rosharan Hippocratic oath. He saved Roshone's life for crying out loud. I cannot see him being involved in war. Sure but I think that this is a fallacy of analogy. Edgedancers can be both deadly, skilled healers, and a loving and considerate people. Giving a person whose only goal in life is to ease suffering the ability to destroy things is a bit different. Cauterization is what you do when you don't have enough time to stick someone. In a world of regrowth it is a fairly useless procedure. Also using division on a person would probably kill them not cauterize wounds.
  14. Are you not going to introduce yourself?

Hello! Welcome to the Shard, @Willshaper13 !

Oh, sorry to disturb your lurking :D

  15. Love the theory you could go in several interesting directions with this. I think the first thing Dalinar will want to do with the power is make it safe. I can see him doing this several ways. One way would be to invest something. Perhaps he will create a planet or system thus robbing himself and any future holder of the shards power? Alternatively he might use oaths. Odium cannot break a direct promise. Perhaps he will when taking up the shard he will swear never to harm another and that the power will only be held by those who swear to this.
  16. My point is actually about both real world an Rosharan history. We pay large attention to catastrophes particularly ones that we avert but we tend to ignore many smaller and equally important things that happen in between conflicts. The war of loss might not have been as catastrophic as the desolations but it has an equal effect on modern Rosharan culture in Vorin nations. It is largly because the Shin avoided this war and the hierocracy that makes their ancient history more accurate.
  17. I think that this could be interesting. We currently have no idea of what Dustbringers are supposed to do though. Their abilities lend themselves to combat but Lirin would hate that. I don't think the Ashspren would recruit someone who would not want their powers. Still, the contrast could be quite interesting.
  18. But he seems to prefer normal disguises.
  19. I actually think something like this already exists. Navani mentions in Oathbringer that they tried to infuse the massive Urithiru gemstone the way they would a fabrail. This indicates that they have some way of moving stormlight from one gemstone to another.
  20. This and the fact that Rosharan spanreads are instantaneous indicates that Rosharans can now calculate the speed of Light!
  21. Lightweaver.
  22. More like the default. Whatever they happened to be thinking about at that moment or perhaps they just stored the memory that they were creating at the time. Also no ferrings pre Sazed ascending so they probably figured out other powers first.
