HOW INKLINGS WORK (CBST/TLT lore)
There are some concepts you need to know. Firstly, you must understand the concept of Metaphysical energy and substaces in the realm of TLT. Secondly, you must understand how narration works. Thirdly, you must know what and how plotblades work.
Okay; you figured that out. Now what?
An inkling is, by definition, a sentient liquid creature that can replicate it's esscence. it can consume things by engulfing it with its liquid, which is typically more on the gooey side, or it can connect with a person and leech off what they eat there.
Inklings can form many shapes, and aren't bound to gravity as normal liquids would be.
Notable inklings include:
- Cognition
- Desolation
- Inspiration
- Lament
- Guiding
- Wisdom
- Resolution
Now, as you probably noticed, they're all named after something. The thing that they are named after is their Truth. The Truth of an inkling will never change. Desolation is the only Inkling that has successfully managed to change its truth.
Narration and other energy types end up interacting strangely with inklings. Their body naturally conducts all sorts of energy, and it also is extremely susceptible to narration because of this. Desolation managed to fix this problem. That is why he has significantly more body-liquid than any other inkling.
Inklings hate narrators. They were visited by them once, and they got the Curse of Truth from that. They were again visited by another narrator, and Desolation is an off-spring from this incident.
Speaking of which, Most inklings wind up being slightly Ordered light-dark, meaning they maintain one truth and a balance of both sides. Desolation is Chaotic Light-dark, being instable and perfectly balanced. He has some other things going. on.

HAPPY PRIDE MONTH
Anyway i'm not back but here's a couple lil updates:
1. SCHOOLS OVER DEADLINE'S PASSED now I can stop thinking about it till the report card comes in and probably reveals i failed spanish and biology :DDD good thing it's just a homeschool co-op though and not real school, which i'll be doing next year.
...
i'm scared guys
2. My parents finally listened to me about how I likely have adhd and im gonna get tested... some time this summer. Knowing them it's gonna take a while. But at least they listened to me for once. the reasons they listened make me a lil upset, but oh well.
3. I'm reading this really fun series called The Murderbot Diaries. It's sci-fi, which i usually dislike strongly, but this one is super fun. It's about this part human part bot construct who is in charge of protecting humans when they go on dangerous missions, but all he really wants to do is watch tv and stuff. Y'all should read it :D
anything else... uhhh... Paramour by Sub Urban and Aurora is a good song.
love y'all byeee!
-
So proud of you for surviving the school year! Glad to have you back.

I feel like such a mess right now. I'm sad and angry and confused and I don't know what else. I'm gonna have to not be on the shard for the summer and it's so sad. I don't want to have to say goodbye, even if it's just for a few months. It doesn't help that they took my phone for an undetermined amount of time, so I can't even talk to anyone else. I don't want to lose the friends I've made on here. I don't want to feel alone again, even though I'm almost always surrounded by people. This is probably my last day, I might be able to get on tomorrow, but probably not. I guess I just want to say goodbye. Thanks for being my friends everyone.

All my love, dear. We’re glad you’re on the Shard and we’ll be happy to have you back. I hope you enjoy your summer.

Okay I started The Night Circus today (I'm now about halfway through); it's been recommended to me by a ton of people, and I needed something to read, so here we are.
And DUDE IT IS SO GOOD!! I haven't enjoyed a book this much in a while, it's so sweet and well written. If you haven't read it, go do that right now!!
Also, my creative corner is being ignored but I have some fun writings there, you should go check those out too
Okay that's all. How are you guys?
-
The writing in that book is absolutely amazing. It practically transports you to another world.

I really hate my teachers; they decided to give us four packets to annotate (around six pages each) and make us write three paragraphs on one of the packets. Then they also gave us a 44-minute video to watch and take notes on. And the best part? This is just one freshman honors class! My teachers forget that our lives really shouldn't revolve around homework, one of my teachers for this class has a phd and wrote her thesis on teenage motivation, so she thinks she knows better.
ARGGHH

Oh my god I actually did it.
Zephy’s first (public) fan fiction. It’s Graviry Falls, but I’m really proud of it, so I’m gonna post it here.

@Channelknight Fadran I was too excited about my fan fic to spellcheck, alright?
@Cinnamon You’ll have to tell me what you think of JB and update me with your progress! I’m always eager to talk about it.
I think the summary I posted on it works well:
QuoteIn which Ford goes through with finishing the portal out of spite after the disastrous test run, ft. FiddAuthor cuteness and the Bill/Fiddleford interactions my heart desires.
Basically it’s Weirdmageddon in the 80’s.

Peace offering? Haha. On a more serious note, I appreciate that you advocate for mental health, and I think it's a wonderful thing. The thing is, I have been seeing dozens of SUs in which… gah, I don't know how to phrase this. I don't want to sound like I'm putting them down, because I'm not. But the number of SUs I see in which someone is frustrated with their parents, or their teacher, or their friend, or anyone is stressing me out about the state of the world, the state families and how they are viewed by society (negatively), and all these other things. I have anxiety, or am 90% sure I do, and it's wearing me down. I sort of-- snapped is too strong a word, but you get the idea-- when I saw someone mad about something as trivial (no offense Wittles) as a phone being taken away. I understand that it might have seemed like I was attacking feelings of stress and annoyance, and I apologize. I did say I was going to drop it, but I needed to let you know my side of the disagreement. Have a good night.
-
Oh hun, that's totally understandable. There is a ton of negativity in the world and it is just as important for us to choose to surround ourselves with happy things as it is for us to acknowledge the negative. Unfortunately, that can be a really hard balance to strike, particularly without undermining other peoples' struggles; this is something I am in the process of learning myself. I really appreciate your elaboration, I think that's very mature of you. You are absolutely forgiven and I apologize if I came off as too harsh.

Just wondering...
How often do you all get your phones taken away for stupid or illogical reasons?
I got my phone back about two days ago I think and now it got taken away again because I didn't get all of my homework finished
-
Not just because of this one thing, mind you.
I understand what you're trying to say, just be careful.

Talking about things helps. I think the message that you shouldn't complain about things is a potentially very dangerous one. People deserve to be heard when they are uncomfortable and I think dear Wittless has pretty good reason to "complain."

Greetings 17th Shard,
I know I've gone by Star on here for the last four years, but I would appreciate being called Zephy now. Partially so new people aren't confused but also because I started going by Zephy literally everywhere else online and I really, really identify with it and will probably start going by it in college so... Yeah.
Have a nice week everyone! Zephy loves ya.

Hey now, Nr. Star Celeste has undergone major character alterations since her inception on these holy forums.

Hey, @TheAlpha929 maybe lay off. In my experience, telling people to get over something never works or is helpful. So stop it.

I cannot think of a single female character who has impacted me in a significant way. So here I am, writing a female I can get behind. Star Celeste, everyone.
QuoteBy the time Star and her guard arrived at their apparent destination, she had begun to wonder if there was something more sinister behind her summons. No one would miss her if she was executed and they had absolutely no reason not to do so. They hadn’t cared about her husband’s death, why would they care about hers?
And she was surprised to find that she was actually excited about the prospect of being marched to her untimely death. She’d be stupid to think there was a possibility of escape, but by Fate, she’d give ‘em hell before the deed was done. Images of being forcefully injected with some death serum danced around in her head. She’d rip out the needle and give her assailant a kick, break their bones and deliver some impactful last words; something about her blood finally giving them a splash of color, perhaps? “Red actually suits you,” or, “glad I could introduce you to style.” Yeah. Yeah, that sounded good.Quote“Ah! Ms. Celeste!” The woman at the desk stood up, and it took a moment for Star to realize that she had spoken; actually spoken like a normal person instead of using that strange, mind-bending Enuller silent-speak. “Oh, it’s absolutely lovely to meet you! Have a seat; Darius will be in soon.”
Star gave the woman at the desk a glare that she hoped would wither the decorative grey succulents. She did not sit.
“Ah. Um… I am Emily Geiger, one of the head scientists in my department. Or, I guess the head scientist since Ryan… It- doesn’t matter. We study magic here, but I’ve never actually met a Narrator before! Although I have- Well, I guess we will get to that. You really can sit. There’s tea! If you want it. I thought you might, since the penitentiary isn’t very, ah, homey.”
That was one way to describe it. Star had already decided that she did not like this woman. Her tight, high ponytail seemed a mockery of Star’s low and loose one, the straight sides of her white labcoat jeering at Star’s extrusive curves. The Enuller’s whole demeanor screamed that Star was nothing more than another lab rat, a test subject, an interesting creature to observe.
“I don’t want tea,” Star said, projecting as much dignity as she could while wearing very undignified handcuffs and a tank top. How would Emily be acting, she wondered, if Star was free of her restraints, both physical and magical? At the very least, she could be glad her tank top showed off her sculpted arms. -
I've been stuffing down panic attacks all day so that's been fun. My parents decided to use what I have dubbed "adrenaline fueled panic wake-ups" as in my dad literally drags me out of bed and acts emotionally manipulative until I'm out of the door. My mom just kind of sits back because I don't think she really knows how terrible that kind of thing is for my mental state. Nevermind the fact that the night before last she decided to come talk to me and we were able to work through a lot of things that were seriously impacting our relationship and how I talked about this exact kind of thing.
I've just been trying to distract myself from being in my head for too long by talking about shared interests with friends or listening to music. This worked until the class right after lunch(I have some friends in there, but not very good friends, just those acquaintances you feel safe around in a class with no friends). I've been so anxious about coming home and I thought I might be able to use this nifty thing called logic to talk about the way I do schoolwork the most effectively,(basically letting me have access to things like music and the ability to take micro breaks every few minutes). But you know, the magic words that all parents can say to end any argument ✨because I said so✨. Coupled with the special kind of logic only parents have.
Currently I can hear my dad telling my mom how I need to have even less freedom with what I do. Even though I am literally stuck in a monotonous and almost endless cycle of waiting for the day where I can actually be myself.
I guess I just really needed to talk about this.

I'm so proud of you for posting your writing!! The Shard is a great place to do that; my creative endeavors certainly weren't born here, but the overwhelmingly positive response to my writing and art that I received from the wonderful folks here most certainly encouraged me to keep being creative. Congrats on 1000 posts!

I'm curious.
What was the lore behind your legos during your childhood? Or any toys for that matter (for me it was legos).
-
Oh boy... So I had some 80 My Little Ponies and I built them an entire city. They each had jobs and names and families and I would do their hair and play games with them.
