  1. Jorel looked a bit unsure of himself after her speech, but it was hard to tell behind the mask. To the kid who had just called him a terrorist he said, "I'm not exactly a terrorist. I'm more of a bounty hunter. You forced my hand by trying to detain me. All I wanted was to get to the surface, but she," he pointed at Yera, "Tried to arrest me." He looked surprised as she tipped the barrel of his gun down without fear. "No one is expendable to themselves. If you care about your own life, you'll order these men to stand down. They follow your orders, and what's in your best interest. Right now that's staying alive. You've seen me give the order to fire upon this station, and I won't hesitate to take another life if it furthers my goals." He hesitated for a moment, then said, "But the prospect of this job intrigues me. If you'll pay me more than my previous employer, there'll be no hard feelings. You know how my type works. Grudges are for employers, I'm just a tool. If this is a trick, believe me when I say I'll blow your head off and gladly die beside you." @Dr. Dapper
  2. Necromancer screamed in pain and fear as he lost consciousness. @Ark1002 —— Galvris studied the man intently. In Alleycity, no one would dare stand up before a crowd of invested individuals without some powerful investiture themselves. Standing before pretty much everyone in the city? He would have to be extremely powerful, or extremely expendable. Galvris wondered how far Plasmacore would go in either direction. A test. A simple one, of course, would suffice.
  3. I only do 17th shard on mobile. All I have to do is tap the changes at the top.
  4. Jorel braced himself for an attack as she stood, and was taken completely off guard by the job offer. "I like you. Want a job?" She asked. If his suit had a jaw, it would've dropped to the floor. He'd expected a full-out attack. maybe an ultimatum. But not deception. Never subtlety. He raised the gun to his shoulder and put his finger on the trigger. "Don't play games with me," he said, "I didn't come down in the last meteor shower. Let me go." @Dr. Dapper
  5. Algorath watched the events with evident surprise. He walked up to the imprisoned boy and listened intently to the questions.
  6. Necromancer tried the door but found it locked. The entire room was probably reinforced. Well, there was really only one thing that he could do. He unloaded his pistol on the two men. Already weakened by the aging, his shots ripped through them killing them both. He saved one shot, and sat down to wait. @Ark1002 —— Galvris perked up when the man mentioned two unique powers. Being both a channeler and an epic would probably interest them in him.
  7. Necromancer flinched away from the man's voice, but as he spoke, a hard resolve began building in his mind. As the man said the word "No", Necromancer began firing the pistol in his hand. Not at the men though. He fired them at the chain around his arm, breaking the link. He raised his hands in triumph, istantly aging the two masked figures to around 90 years old. He then fled the room. —— After about what seemed like an hour, nerves frayed and weary, Necromancer stumbled into the dining room. Just in time to catch the last part of a large man's speech. He sat at a table, hoping to blend in... @Ark1002 Galvris smiled in appreciation at Ciera's words. Always good to have a challenger in the audience. He began to mess around with a small spark of fire he'd made with the power. Rolling it back and forth on his knuckles, tossing from hand to hand. He finally threw it onto the table, and surrounded it with a shield of air to control it. It burned brightly there, making a ring of black on the table cloth. He went back to eating, using the light of the flame to see his food.
  8. Algorath loved the rumors that spread about him. Half wolf, half man, stalking the fields and woods eating precious game and livestock. It had transformed him into such a beast. For years he had stalked and killed, enjoying the fruits of the hunt with his pack. There was nothing else for him. Then the old man had came. He had wandered into the midst of his pack, unafraid. Something about his scent made Algorath choose not to rip him apart on the spot. He talked of heroes and stories, men riding nobly to slay fearsome beasts. And there was a fearsome beast. It was a Monster that was terrorizing the nearby towns and farms. The old man had led him to the right spot, instructed him on how to slay it, and set him to it. He had done so, him and his pack circling it and taking chunks of it's flesh off. Completely by coincidence, he'd happened to enter the fight just in time to save a poor farmer's life. The farmer and his family had spread the rumor of a beast that was a sort of spirit. Capable of changing into a man, and as intelligent as any human. A beast that could challenge the oppressors of the weak and win. From then on the rumors cirlcling him had changed. He'd stopped raiding farms as often, because the nature of the rumors changed who he was. He'd begun to help lonely travelers. It had culminated with him coming to the city for the census. And now it was making him find the lost men. He strode beside Mutig, delving ever-deeper into the Fens. The rumors along with his air of mystery was transforming him slowly into a Monster, but a benevolent one. A sort of animal spirit of the hunt and kill. As they walked the scent of corruption became stronger. Funny, he thought, it wasn't this strong last time. With a start he realized that it wasn't the scent that had become stronger, but his sense of smell which had become sharper. The rumors. People had seen him take that cloth, even this little group looked to him for tracking. If the rumors inhanced his physical ability, than who was he to complain? A group of howling youths streaming from a nearby alleyway shook Algorath out of his reverie. They surrounded the group brandishing knives and sharp pieces of metal. The largest one sneered at Mutig, taking him for the leader, and demanded the census money. Several bulging sacks at the youth's waist indicated the fate of other magical victims. This group had grown cocky. @Chasmfiend#1 @Invocation @Turtle373 @Sorana @Steel Inquisitive @kenod @ZincAboutIt
  9. Taz gaped in surprise as he was easily shaken off. "What?! After a bandit attack I'm just gonna let anyone who wants to stroll up to the front door? You must think I'm stupid." He eyed the man suspiciously as Bill answered. He didn't appear to mean any harm, but better safe than sorry. He went around back and grabbed his staff. @I think I am here. @Snipexe
  10. "Great," Jorel said, "I'll just be off then." He started forwards, but the gaurd hauled him backwards. "Relax," he assured the man, "Just trying to lighten things up. If I'm to spend the rest of my life in prison, might as well developed a sense of humor about it." The guard relaxed just a bit, taking his finger off of the trigger. Mistake number one. You couldn't be a mercenary as long as he was and not pick up a few things. As well as many forms of combat, unorthodox and orthodox, he'd learne the art's of blackmail, manipulation, and detective work. One thing he was master at was fooling others as to the nature of his personality. Make them underestimate you. He had developed quite a knack for it once he'd taken to wearing a mask. It made it impossible for anyone to ascertain his true feeling. All they had to go on was his voice, which was modulated, and his body language. The guard made him sit, and he went willingly and quietly, a man who had given in and was accepting it. The guards were becoming comfortable around him. Mistake number two. He jumped up, snatching the rifle from the hand of the guard, and pointing it at the face of Yera, who he was right next to as a result of the jump. His cybernetic-inhanced suit reacted much faster and was stronger than the guards, and he had her at gunpoint. "Everyone drop your weapons or she gets it. I'll cooperate if you tell me what's going on, but I'm not going to prison. You either let me to the surface, or let me go." @Dr. Dapper
  11. Keleth smiled. "You would be correct there. Thank you for pointing that out." He made a few hasty notes on the sheet and presented the latest version. After reading the laws, Keleth made his own statement. "These laws, as you may have noticed," he began, "are incomplete. They only begin with the most basic pieces. All these will amount to is a base. People will present their own laws over time, adding to this list, or present amendments, changing this list. With the allowance of time, this list will grow into the Alleyverse code of law. I hope you all take this into consideration." He sat down, his work complete. @Silva @Voidus @I think I am here. @Nohadon @Kidpen @any more GG reps
  12. There's a great little Hoid quote on the topic of gibberish. Mind reminding me Hoid? Also, in the noble spirit of friendly competition and one-upmanship, I just have a little something to say... I win and you all lose suckers!
  13. Welcome back Hoid! I recommend getting a spear, for the survivor.
  14. Taz nodded, put the weapons away, and headed out. He was rounding the back of the shed when he heard a knock. He heard Bill open it, and dashed back around. This could be another bandit. He saw a scruffy-looking man standing in the doorway, and his actions became automatic. Lacking his staff, Taz charged at the man. He hit him with a flying tackle, sending them both sprawling. He put his hand around the man's throat and raised his fist, shooting threatening questions at the man. "Who are you!?," he accused, "What do you want with us!?" @Snipexe @I think I am here.
  15. An old injury always works for me.
  16. Taz stopped his examination of Bill's boss, and thought for a moment. "Well, that's why you're the boss," he said, then grinned. He went outside to search them. What Bill had said had made good sense. He searched the pockets, and found a canteen on one. He found a few bits of gold on another. Of course, there were the bullets and guns. Stuff like that, clean as it was, was extremely valuable. While he was at his task, he caught himself wondering about the nature of Greenhara. Was it really the salvation that everyone claimed? And if it was, then how? He thought about the rumors flying around about the caverns underneath the city. Maybe the answer really was there. How would you find such a place? His mind came up with nothing compared to the bounty he'd found from the robbers. He returned to find Bill's wound expertly bandaged, and a fire already crackling in the hearth. "Where do you want me to put this stuff," he asked, gesturing to the loot. @Snipexe @I think I am here.
  17. Well I'm on dirt, so double so there!
  18. Jorels suit cybernetics registered a cold pressure agains the side of his head. He activated his external sensors on his left side, and noted the power rifle pressed agains his head. Something like that would blow through his armor and splatter his brains all over the opposite wall. He thought it odd that he was so calm about this. He was about to spend the rest of his life in some asteroid prison camp, and he was taking it all very nicely. He reluctantly released his hostage and and threw the pistol to the floor. He stood up and put his hands up. "I suppose you want me to take off my armor," he said, the sighed.
  19. Taz froze. This was a bad situation. He'd been in worse, but still bad. As soon as the shot was fired he whipped his staff forwards. It spun in an arc around him, mind-numbingly fast. The bullet flashed across the distance, but Taz's staff was there. He wouldn't actually be able to block it, as it would tear through his staff, but if he timed it right... His staff flashed across his body at the same time as the bullet passed through the space a few feet in front of him. His staff swept the bullet aside, and it ripped through the air a few inches to the left of his arm. Taz looked at the dumbstruck sniper, and raised an eyebrow at him. In a flash he crossed the distance and planted his staff firmly in the man's throat. He returned to Bill's side and tended his wound, dragging him back to the house. It would be a while before he would regain full range of motion. He'd need Taz's help. Amazing how something so bad could turn out so good. @Snipexe
  20. Algorath took the cloth, sniffed it, and nodded. "I smelled this one too down there. Along with the scent of blood." He followed the conversation of the group, and jumped in here and there, "I've never been bothered down there, perhaps due to my appearance." @Sorana @Chasmfiend#1 @ZincAboutIt @Turtle373 @Invocation @Steel Inquisitive @thisisgettingoutofhand
  21. Jorel got up. The ship had suddenly stopped firing after the first shot. It had torn through the metal just a few levels above them. He noticed that his suit was still moving with crisp speed, and that his cybernetics that connected to his suit had been unaffected by Yera's little hack. He got to his feet and stood calmly, waiting for the others to recover. This would not be easy to explain. Especially if the blast had hit something important. He reached out with his cybernetics, trying to find his ship's signal. He'd need the leverage. He picked up one of the soldiers that had rushed into the room, and his energy pistol emerged from his gauntlet. He held it to the soldier's head, saying, "If anyone here makes a false move, your comrad dies." He paused, looking a little guilty, than continued, "I don't want to kill anyone. I didn't really want to have my ship destroy us. You," he pointed to Yera, "Forced my hand with your hack. Let's just see what was damaged, fix it, then go about our business." @Dr. Dapper
