  1. Not entirely related to the game, but I've been thinking about this for a couple of months and wanted to get it out. The second generation characters in Fates would work SO MUCH BETTER as playable units in Three Houses. The sheer amount of characters in Fates, along with the fact that the second generation exists, limited the amount of depth a single character could have. Most characters that could have had depth or been compelling (Camilla, Nyx, and even Peri) were reduced to tropes and quirks (Hot Faux-Incest, Eligible Loli, and ??? Psychopath That Should Be Locked Up). Taking out the second gen would give each generation a chance to fit within the games. Heck, most of the kids wouldn't even need that much of a retooling for their characters to work. The age limit in Three Houses would eliminate the uncomfortably young characters such as Midori, Percy, and Kana (or at least make them legal adults by the time romance is an option); while keeping the older characters as students or post-timeskip joiners. Velouria and Selkie can be absent or included, depending on how one wants to deal with beast units. Siegbert can be combined with Dimitri (which may or may not be my head-canon). Siegbert as a character is an honorable, duty-bound young man whose hero-worship of his father actually limits his own growth. He believes that everyone should do their best and stays up far too late studying. Dimitri already has most of those qualities. The hero-worship could be part of what tortures Dimitri after the Tragedy of Duscur - Dimitri loved his father so much that he is torturing himself by hearing the voice of his father. Meanwhile outsiders believe that the pre-timeskip Dimitri is still the same boy they knew from before the tragedy. Ophelia would fit in with Annette and Lysithea, but with a twist. Ophelia can see mystical things, but isn't completely sure how it works*. Her goal at the academy is to figure out how her powers work. Shiro can be reworked into being the bastard son of a noble (or the Sreng kingdom**). Shiro was never expected to inherit his father's throne, so he was never told about his father's position. But once the rightful heir died, Shiro was forced into the position and hasn't lived up to it yet. So Shiro's father sent him to the academy to learn how to be a more appropriate leader. I personally like this better than "I never told you that you'd be the prince because you weren't maturing how I matured, despite me having a completely different support system." (Ryoma is a terrible father.) Asugi I have as a thief who would be caught by Shamir and Catherine early on. Instead of turning him over the authorities, they threaten him into joining the Knights of Seiros. Cyril would see Asugi as a potential rival and threat (later realizing that this is how others view/viewed him, and he needs to trust Asugi before he becomes like everybody else) and Shiro would offer him a job (Asugi would accept in the paired ending). Rhajat would be Hubert's younger sister, and would always join the opposite side he does (they'd have the same stat growths and spells; and she'd come with the relic Hubert would earn). Caeldori would be Sylvain's younger sister (she'd hero-worship Ingrid). I toy with the idea that she is a prodigy but can't inherit because she has no crest; but I also like the idea that Sylvain wants her to inherit House Gautier but their parents would rather her become a noble's bride for political reasons. Mitama I have as Raph's younger sister. Loves art? Is quirky? Has monstrous strength growths? Must run in the family. Ignatius would be the son of a newly minted knight who's bravery earned him a boon from their lord; the boon was that Ignatius attend the academy. Now everyone thinks Ignatius is a great warrior like his parent(s), but in reality Ignatius is afraid of most everything (imagine the things he, Ashe, and Berny could get up to!). Soleil would ROCK the academy. Her story comes with a bit more head-canon though. Soleil would be the eldest child of (Chrom!)Inigo/Laslow and (potentially) Azura. Unlike her sibling(s), she'd have no crest, making her growth in the Holy Kingdom stunted. As such, she became a mercenary on her own and worked her way into the academy. Despite her ability, Soleil would have some angst over the fact that the two things she truly wants (a crest and to be a good dancer) she can never have. She is a childhood friend of Dimitri, Felix, Sylvain, and Ingrid (and is TOTALLY Dorothea's ex-girlfriend...and may not be 100% over her just yet). I've also toyed with the idea of her being Marianne's twin ala Felicia and Flora, but I don't think that'd work. Shigure, being the Soleil's younger brother, would join after the timeskip. He shares a decent amount of qualities with Ignatz, although their base personality is enough to keep them separate. Sophie would just be the daughter of a knight. Which, while pretty basic, should work fine so long as she has more than just clumsiness and Avel to carry her through. Nina is a harder character to use. Part of me thinks she'd be better off combined with Bernadetta into one composite character (they similar traits and skills in archery, storytelling,*** and rebelling against fathers). Another part of me thinks that Nina could be a high ranking nobleman's daughter who he thinks is going through a rebellious phase and thus sends her to the academy to "straighten her out" before her criminal activity gets her killed (i.e. Ferdinand or Lorenz's little sister...although her being Felix's little sister and him not caring about her would be pretty funny). A third part of me thinks it'd be funny to see Nina harass Bernadetta into writing a Yaoi story, only for the story to stink because Berny didn't really care about the story (as a not-so-subtle jab at entitled fans and authors). The rest of the characters (Dwyer, Hisame, Kiragi, and Forrest) I haven't really figured out how to work into the game yet, but I think the amount here is good enough. *I believe this is canon, especially if her mother is Orochi, but I'm not too sure anymore. Making this an affect of having a crest could be interesting...although that might mean - if the characters are tied with the Awakening characters - that Robin would have a crest that allowed them to see into the future...or maybe that's what the Mark of the Exalt does...that's enough random speculation for now... **In my head Sreng and Hoshido are one and the same, but I'm trying to keep my head-canon out of this ***Granted, very, VERY different types of storytelling.
  2. I really enjoyed the first four books and liked a good amount of the fifth one. But Weeks has a habit of doing jarring twists seemingly for the sake of the twist (Spoiler Warning): The ending also had too many unanswered questions - questions that THE FINAL BOOK ITSELF - brought up, making it very clear Weeks wants to go back to this world eventually. This usually isn't a bad thing, but I feel like these seeds should have been planted a book or two earlier.
  3. Clubs gang rise up!! Also, that last question was pretty funny. Unexpected, yet so perfect.
  4. Binged the show yesterday morning. My thoughts...Most of the things I "predicted" would happen didn't, and I'm happier because of it. The 9 episode season is starting to show it's cracks, as Season 3 of TDP felt a LOT like Season 3 of Avatar: The Last Airbender. This isn't a bad thing, as these are tropes we know and love, and they're done well in TDP. It just wouldn't be as glaring if the mind behind this show wasn't the mind behind ALTA too. Viren's arc this season sent him down a path I hoped he wouldn't go down, but was always inevitable. Claudia and Callum were pretty stagnant this season, but they had a lot of development last season so it was fair. Ezran and Rayla grew up so much. I'm proud. Overall, Season 3 was a funny, emotional, and occasionally shocking end to our current story arc. It's still on the path to becoming a great successor to ALTA and a great show period, but it needs to break the chains of the past - ALTA, Korra, Voltron, all of it - to do so. Future seasons will give it that chance.
  5. I'm going with Kalak, mostly because of the same reasons the others have stated: we haven't seen most of the female Heralds but one of them is working for Mr. T, Nale and Ishar are against the human forces, and Ash and Taln might be too difficult to reach at the moment. That being said, I kinda like the idea that one of the interludes - if not the entire interlude through line - is one of the Heralds trying to escape Moash. Like a supernatural horror story or something.
  6. That reminds me of a less crazy theory! Sometime during the next two books, Adolin is going to use Awakening to fully Awaken Maya. The long version of the theory is that he'll bring her mostly back to life (maybe Oath 2 level of life), but she won't be able to switch out of her sword form, nor will she be able to grant any powers to Adolin. So he finds Azure (or Zahel, if he's available and willing to share information) and asks how her sword was created. Then the theory splits: Adolin either goes to the Nightwatcher to ask for breaths to Awaken his blade (his bane being that he will never be able to hold investiture and become a Radiant...something he's fine with); or Adolin is "exiled" for killing Sadeas and uses that excuse to travel off-world, gains some breath in-between books/series, and comes back later. Or he just accompanies Shallan on an off-world Ghostblood mission.
  7. I LOVE IT. Going off your theory, what if the final stand ends with the remaining Heralds (and/or any new ones), picking up their blades out of a circle, to fight off the Voidbringers one last time as the world ends, redeeming themselves from the prelude. My two wildest theories are that: 1. Larkin are Dawnshards. I know this won't happen, but I always liked the idea of Dragon Riding Radiants. Add to the fact that Larkins can do pretty much everything that Dawnshards are rumored to do, and that, like Shardblades before them, are introduced in gradual states...well...it was a fun theory. It also fits the theme of us seeing the answers right in front of our eyes, but not being able to process it yet. 2. Book 5 will end with Odium destroying the highstorms. That ominous prophecy about that says "The Everstorm comes. The True Desolation. The Night of Sorrows." is actually talking about 3 separate events. The Everstorm is what we saw arrive in WoR; the True Desolation is upon us, and we'll see it in full during books 4 & 5, and Book 5 will end with the Night of Sorrows. The Weeping is called that because there are no highstorms. What do you call an era without highstorms? This is also why Lift and Renarin are so important. Cultivation saw this coming so she prepared Radiants that aren't dependent on highstorms for their investiture. Bonus Theory 3: Jasnah's book will be called The Stormlight Archive, and the epigraphs will be her forward of the book. So we'll be reading The Stormlight Archive in the Stormlight Archive, the final book of The Stormlight Archive. Bonus Theory 4: Part of the splinters of Honor/Tanavast were molded into a human (or forced into a human...or something like that), and Kaladin was the outcome, which is why the Stormfather calls Kaladin "Son of Tanavast." I don't think Lirin is/was Tanavast or anything like that, but I think there's something going on there.
  8. The "Palona is a secret Kandra" weirdly works well with the idea that "Sebrial is actually Thaidakar." The Set could have some connection with the Ghostbloods, although Hoid isn't impressed by the Ghostbloods, whereas he actively loathes the Set. So probably not. Either way, it's a fun theory!
  9. There's a theory that Mare is actually a world-hopper from Nalthis (she reached a high enough Heightening that her life-sense could be passed off as Tin, and that her presence alerted the Lord Ruler to the existence of world-hoppers. Hence, his "thank you,"). Edit: Also, maybe any hints you can find about why Vin was so special would be very nice.
  10. Sadly, like all things Pegasus related, it's gender-locked.
  11. Great choices for Dalinar and the Windrunners. Maybe early Dalinar would have been a an Oni Savage/Cheiftan, and later Dalinar would have been a Great Knight (or sword using General)? It could be like 3H where Windrunners start as soldiers and then can turn into Pegasus Knights. Navani would totally be a mechanist! Why didn't we think of it sooner! Most of the other characters fall into specific tropes rather than what their order would best be suited as (i.e. Shallan being the red-head mage like Ewan, Tormod, Ricken and Miriel (and if official artwork hair color is anything to go by, Laurent), Hayato, and even Annette (to a degree) have been). Lift might turn into a troubadour, but the first time we see her, she's literally a thief. And both Awakening and Fates have promotions for thieves that can use staves. Give her Pass for large movement. The rest of your choices I 100% agree with.
  12. I voted for Navani and Rlain respectively, but it wouldn't bother me too much if it turned out to be Rlain for the Sibling and Rock for the Nightwatcher, or something to that effect.

  14. You know, it might work weirdly. Dalinar would either be the early-game prepromote (great stats, but terrible growth rates most of the time*) or a very weird take on the Lord. Adolin, as you said, could be the Myrmidon/swordmaster. But we also don't have that many horse-riders on Roshar, so Adolin could fulfill a niche role as a Cavalier. Kaladin - and by proxy most of Bridge Four - is a Soldier. Or the future Lord of the game, but goes through the first part of the game as a Soldier. Shallan has that red-headed Mage thing down. Jasnah is the late game Sage. Lift is the Thief. Szeth...I mean, it'd be easy to label him as Assassin...although he probably would fit Swordmaster just as well. Renarin would be a Shaman. Navani would be...a Sniper maybe...? Or probably a new class. Wit is the Bard! *exceptions include Seth, Titania, Frederick, and Felicia.
  15. Adolin used Astra! Crits all around. Love it.
  16. I always thought Stormlight would work better as a story-driven RPG. Like the old Bioware ones. You'd take control of a character in one of the previous desolations, and the choices you make would affect what order you end up joining. For bonus points, the final map of the game would be the scene right before the Prelude in WoK. The game would end on a happy note, with the Heralds announcing that the Desolations were finally over. Then you read the Prelude and realize, that the entire ending was a lie. Mistborn you're spot on, although it might be easier to do the farther back in time you go. However...like the Stormlight idea above, what if the story actually follows Alendi's journey? The biggest problem would be the ending, of course, but the game doesn't actually have to stop at the Well of Ascension. What if there's a final boss right before it? It helps the fans believe that Alendi completed his goal without needing to see it, and when they pick up TFE, they realize that things haven't gone according to plan.
  17. I have finished my Blue Lions run with Belle/Bylass, and now it's back to the Golden Deer with Byleth/Bylad! This time I'll be romancing Dorothea. Things have already started differently: I used most of my renown to raise my Teacher Rank to B, Sword rank to A, Authority to B, and Bows to C. I saved the leftover and used that to get my Heavy Armor to C. Next will be Riding and Reason, and then Axe, Faith and Fists. My goal is to S rank Riding, Axe, and Fists. Faith too, but that can be saved for BL Round 2 (when the new DLC classes and characters come out). I probably won't get there, but I can try. The Heavy Armor helped me recruit Ferdinand immediately, so he'll be part of the core team now. The only problems I see encountering are that my team might be a tad under-leveled compared to last time, as I can only battle twice on free days instead of three times. Other changes: Lorenz will be my Dark Mage (thank you Joe Zieja for the idea). I tried that for Linhardt last time, but I recruited him too late and used him too infrequently. I might turn Ignatz into one too. I'm not sure who my dancer will be. I'm torn between Hilda (I want her to learn Bolting; her charm is also good, as are her gambits, but Authority isn't a favored stat for her), Marianne (used her like that on the first GD run and I LOVED it), Ingrid (gives her a niche). Dorothea was phenomenal as a dancer, but I prefer her as a Gremory. Same for Lysithea (although some day that would be fun to do). Maybe Sylvain, but probably not.
  18. True, and that does come in handy. It's just that more often than not, if she's surrounded by enemies, she won't survive. Dorothea has a chance at dodge-tanking. But I've seen Dorothea die by unlucky strikes and Lysithea tank (and dodge-tank) armies, so it's all up to chance and RGN.
  19. Interesting! Mine isn't nearly as fragile as Lysithea or Annette (who was good in my first BL run, but has really fallen behind in the current one), but I'm not sure I'd say she's as bulky as Marianne, Mercedes, or Ingrid. But still, her magic list is just plain awesome. I'm...not sure I'll ever get to do a Black Eagles run. I don't have it in me to do a Crimson Flower run (I can't do anti-hero/villain/Renegade/Dark Side runs on videogames. It just hurts me), nor do I want to lose the main lord of the game just for Silver Snow (I also really want to make Edelgard a dancer, but that means losing her on SS). That doesn't mean I don't know what happens.
  20. I chose Dark One because it feels the most original. After that, I'd have to say Wheel of Time. It sounds like it's shaping up tot be pretty starvin' good, and I like the series as a whole more than the others.
  21. Soon...soon... WE are Ferdinand Von Aegir.
  22. I haven't been super excited for TROS. Part of it was due to burnout because of everything between TLJ and TROS.* The other part of it was the realization that what I wanted from - what I thought I NEEDED from - Star Wars just wasn't being provided to me. So I took a step back. Anyways, back to this trailer. I think every marketing piece of TROS has gotten me more excited. Have the trailers been good? I'd say so, but only good. They haven't been great, and I'm definitely not hyped after watching them...but they're good steps. (Edit: I also don't think that JJ has too much to do with the trailers. That's in the hands of the marketing department. JJ might tell them "leave out this shot," or "replace Dialogue A with Dialogue B," but after that, there probably isn't much he can do.) *TLJ, is a beautiful, well-thought out movie; and Rian Johnson LOVES Star Wars and I want to see him direct more Star Wars movies. But at the end of the day, I realized he and I have seemingly different views of the world which lead to fundamental differences that make me not like the movie as much as I feel I should. Solo, on the other hand, is one of my favorite Star Wars movies and feels most like the OT. Even more-so than TFA, which people always claim is a rip-off of ANH! (To which they aren't exactly wrong, but they miss the brilliance of making TFA that way). Battlefront II is a well-documented travesty, despite how beautiful the game is. And Resistance Season 1 had moments of greatness, but it also doubled down on the "for kids" nature that Rebels started instead of becoming "for all ages" like shows like ALTA, The Dragon Prince, and even The Clone Wars (& Clone Wars) did. Season 2 so far has been a lot better, but if people don't make it past the first season, what's the point?
  23. The Interludes of Mistborn Era 4 are just Hoid posting on 17th Shard forums...because the 17th Shard would also have internet and call itself the 17th Shard...and Hoid would have found it and found a way in and would post stuff to mislead them...
