  1. I just got to the BL timeskip. I recruited everyone possible but Ferdinand (I guess my stats weren't high enough...?). Hopefully I can recruit him post-timeskip. If not...I'll get him next time.
  2. I have officially recruited everyone but Seteth (I assume he'll join post time-skip? I totally forgot when he joined in my GD run) and Ferdinand (THE GAME WON'T LET ME B SUPPORT HIM YET. IT'S THE END OF FEBRUARY. I DON'T HAVE TIME TO NOT B SUPPORT HIM). Even Hilda. Some characters (Ignatz, Cyril, Hanneman, Alois, and Manuela, potentially Ashe) won't be trained beyond an A support. Others will be on a rotating roster. Not sure about Catherine yet.
  3. NG+ Blue Lions Run Update: Have to do Chapter 6 again...because I messed up and killed that final enemy before stealing the Dark Seal from the Death Knight. Students transferred to my class: Lysithea, Lorenz, Dorothea, Bernadetta, Marianne Soon to be recruited: Petra (I just finished her B support before the mission), Caspar (I'm at B support level with him, but the game won't let me see it at the moment), Ferdinand (He's assisting me on this month's mission, and I've done some training/paralogues to help gain supports. I'm at C but I think it'll soon be...B...) Next on the list: Lindhart, Leonie, Raphael, Ignatz(?). NG+ lets me use renown to raise support levels, so I'm not worried about the Golden Deer peeps. Other units recruited: Catherine, Shamir, Cyril. They were easy to recruit since they basically join due to the story, so. Other unites desired: Manuela, Hanneman, Gilbert, Seteth. Not sure how to get the first three, but I assume I just ask them to join me...? TL;DR: I'M SAVING EVERYONE I CAN* Y'ALL. *I'm torn on Hilda because I don't want Claude to be completely alone... Story and character update: I'm really enjoying BL! Dimitri is a noble youth so far, and I find myself respecting his ideals. He's very different from Claude, but I could see the two really getting along as real friends. Dedue, while his supports are pretty Duscur focused, at least shows the complexity of racism and mob mentality in a light FE hasn't really done since PoR. Felix is Felix - I recruited him on my GD run so I know his character relatively well. Ingrid - My best friend told me that Ingrid had some of the worst growth rates in the game. Mine has been RNG blessed so far then. Her supports have been pretty simple so far, but I'm only at C level with most of them. Sylvain - Now here's a character I thought I'd hate. He's a jerk, but he's also a good person with a weird yet understandable view on flirting and Crests. It reminds me of Inigo from Awakening (in the sense that there's a reason for the flirting). Ashe - Like Felix, I already know most of his life due to recruitment. Annette - I knew I loved her from her food song on the FE website, but now I get to use her and yeah, she's awesome. Mercedes - Her voice grated on me at first, but after learning about her character I really, really like her. She and Sylvain are too good together. Overall ranking of the Lords so far though: 1) Claude. Unique specialty in bows, and his other promotions are SO FREAKING COOL. 2) Dimitri. I like his ideals and Part 2 design. 3) Edelgard. This is mostly because I haven't had the chance to play her as of yet, and I'm saving her route for last.
  4. Here's where I see what you're coming from, and to a certain degree agree. But the movie shows Clark making choices. Clark always chooses to save people - from teenagers on a bus to the people on the oil rig. Clark always saves people. That's his choice. Now, do his actions drive the plot as much as they should (which is the crux of what you're saying)? Not really. But this Clark is in an Identity Crisis (pun totally intended), so I'm okay with that. In the end, his actions - whether or not they meant to - do drive the story forward, and that's a positive. Agreed. That being said, had Synder's version of JL as a two part movie come to fruition, then maybe it would have been fine. That's how I feel with Avengers: Age of Ultron anyways. When it came out, the movie had a luke-warm reception. But looking back at it in a post-Infinity War/Endgame world, I see how the seeds planted have grown and I can appreciate it so much more. BvS will never really get that chance. Sure, we'll have some seeds grow like with Wonder Woman and Aquaman, but those will probably be it. To keep the Age of Ultron theme going, Tony didn't know Ultron was going to blow up in his face either. But it does, and they fix it and joke at the end. And in the next movie we see the fallout. Or maybe a Spider-Man version? Peter Parker's consequence of letting a villain go lead to the direct death of his uncle. Neither had any idea of the consequences, but there they are. That's not a flaw in storytelling, it's just an aspect of it. Again, in a post-Avengers world (which is when MoS and BvS came out), the rules have changed on that. Heck, one could argue when they started splitting up the Twilight and Harry Potter finales movies stopped standing on their own. Oof. I wasn't impressed with 300 (but it was one of my first R rated movies so I kinda liked it?), nor did I see Watchmen (was excited, read the comic in preparation for the movie, wasn't impressed), nor did I see Sucker Punch. All I heard were weird-to-bad things about Synder too. And I wasn't a giant Superman fan to boot - sure I liked Smallville and the Justice League cartoon, but that's where my knowledge ended. And yet I adore MoS and enjoy BvS:UE. At the end of the day though, we can just agree to disagree. I did post this in controversial opinions for a reason
  5. You need two dark seals. One to unlock Dark Mage, another for Dark Bishop. Dark Knight doesn't require a Dark Seal (confusing I know). It just needs Lance, Reason, and Riding.
  6. I only used the Dark Seals on one person. I actually tried that trick on my Blue Lions playthrough this morning! I was going to steal the seal and then move out of the way of the Deak Knight; and if that didn't work I'd kill the boss before the Death Knight could attack...unfortunately my thief - Byleth - wasn't fast enough to out-speed (and therefore steal from) the Death Knight. But I've learned from that mistake.
  7. I second everything @Lord Furret and @Pathfinder say on Awakening and Fates. To me Fates is bogged down by them trying recapture what made Awakening great, without it actually putting any logic into why it worked in Awakening. Had it taken those features out and tried to stand on it's own premise, it would have had a LOT more room to flesh out the story and the world. Maybe. Mechanically though, Fates is superior in every way. But if you're looking for memorable, (semi-)fleshed out characters*, a classic FE story, and an overall good time, Awakening is the way to go. As for Three Houses, I've been absent because I've been playing as much as I can. Which isn't as much as my best friend (he's beating BE-E, BE-R, and is currently Part II of BL), but I'm finally to the last level of Golden Deer. My main team: Blyeth - Dark Bishop (I just wanted to try it out and I've already maxed out his personal classes and Mortal Savant) Claude - Special Class (maxed out) Lysithea - Mortal Savant (she's maxed out this AND Gremory, but there's not enough time to get her to Holy Knight) Leonie and Shamir - Bow Knights. Leonie is supported by Dark Knight Lorenz. Raphael - War Master Felix - Mortal Savant Flayn and Dorothea - Gremory Hilda - Wyvern Lord Marianne - Dancer (I mostly did this for a silly head-canon idea I've since had to throw out, but since then I've really come to enjoy her as a Dancer. Between her solid sword skills, Thoron, and Physic, she ALWAYS has a use) Catherine on occasions - Falcon Knight On standby: Ashe (recruited him too late), Ignatz (was good mid-game, but making him a Mortal Savant was a TERRIBLE choice IMO), Seteth (Didn't feel like using him), Cyril (mostly there for supports). Next playthrough I'm doing Blue Lions. I'm torn as to who to make my Dancer: Flayn (because she asks so nicely and she can stay behind the front lines while providing support), Dorothea (it fits her personality, personal skill and strengths, and magic spells she learns) Lysithea (because it DOESN'T fit her personality yet it'd be hilarious, and her strengths actually do align), Ingrid (apparently she has the worst growths in the game, but I might want to use her and here is where she could be useful and still get level ups), or Marianne again (she was a really, REALLY good unit...but that also might be favoritism speaking). Regrets: Not changing Byleth to Dark Mage sooner, not recruiting Lindhart (based on the little I know about his and Lysithea's ending, it's better than the pair I did...although the shared meal convos are really between him and Marianne, so...), not shipping Claude and Hilda (because they TOTALLY have a "friends with benefits" relationship going on...next time) Main Waifu's: Shamir, Marianne, and Dorothea, with each taking the top spot depending on how I'm feeling. Flayn comes in fourth, as I feel like the game really ships them (A/A+ Support music comes on in her first scene for the goddess' sake!). Leonie comes in fifth, but I ship her and Lorenz HARD. Husbando's: Claude. First through fifth is all Claude. Although I guess Seteth is a distance sixth. Overall rating 9.5/10 so far. Great story with some pretty shocking twists. Phenomenal voice acting. Exceptional gameplay. Lovable characters. The .5 off is mostly because of my burnout and the fact that I don't think it'll take over Awakening as my favorite game (which officially took over Sacred Stones last year...but if I'm being honest with myself, it took over Sacred Stones years ago), but I'm willing to give it time. And let's be clear, Three Houses is objectively the better of the two games. But just because something is better doesn't mean you have to like it more. *I think the Awakening characters are fleshed out for the most part (notable exceptions being Say'ri and Validar), but others think they're just quirky. I can see that and am not that willing to fight it, hence the "semi".
  8. Glad to hear your thoughts! I feel the exact opposite of you though lol. I was NOT excited for this game due to the region, the gimmick, and the overall talk. I was on the fence about getting it; and if I was, it wasn't going to be Day 1 like every other main generation or remake game before (barring Let's Go). But this new trailer excited me. I LOVE regional versions of Pokémon. I think it's a fun and innovative way of keeping older Pokémon fresh. The fact that regional variations aren't Alola exclusive really gives me hope for future games (not to mention easier to balance than Mega Evolutions). However, I DO worry that they'll start adding more regional variations and reduce the amount of new Pokémon per region. That is a mistake. The regional forms should be added on top of a game flowing with new Pokémon, not padding out the roster. In terms of the Not-Pikachu of this game, to each his or her own. Dedene (or whatever the electric/fairy one is called) is the only one I don't like, and I've come to expect it for every region. Like the starter bird and the early game annoying normal type, the Not-Pikachu is a staple of new generations. As for Team Yell...at least they're trying something different? Team Flare was the WORST. Team Skull was a shell to (admittedly very poorly) disguise the real hidden evil team; and I found them to be funny personally. Like, funny in a sad, pathetic sort of way (after I got over the slang being a little offensive to me), but that's part of what they were aiming for, right? Team Yell seems to be aiming to be a commentary on toxic fanbases, and that always fascinates me. And lastly, NEW ZIZAGOON EVOLUTION!! Obstagoon is TOTALLY going on my team. Or, if I decide to skip this generation, I'll have my best friend raise one and trade it to me in the next game lol!
  9. The later MCU movies do a pretty good job of both of these: Chekhov's Gun - Peter Quill's heritage in GotG. It's mentioned at the beginning but plays a larger part in the end (and then the father is foreshadowed at the very end). Wakanda's shields are a minor example. We see them in Black Panther, but we see them in action in Infinity War Foreshadowing - Tony and Cap's conversations in Avengers play out over the next few movies they're both in. Tony's feelings about Peter Parker: Dr. Strange's lines in Infinity War: Mixed Together: But back to the question at hand...that's a hard thing to ask because there are so many unknowns. Personally I don't find the Stormfather refusing to be a sword a Chekhov's Gun (or at least right now I don't); I think it's the Stormfather simply refusing to "demean" himself to that form. But it very well could be a Chekhov's Gun if in Book 5 or beyond the Stormfather does accept being a blade. As others have pointed out, Wax's new earring being the same one Vin had would be super cool. And maybe it'd play a part in Wax eventually making peace with Harmony again.
  10. Interesting theory! I'm not sure I believe it, but it could be pretty believable. Maybe that's where the name Discord for Harmony comes from? A sect of his own people who see him as bringing more chaos to the world and their ways? Just spit-balling now...
  11. I feel ya. Outside of the beast class, I'm pretty happy with the selection so far, especially given that most weapons can be used in classes despite the class having certain favorites. All I need to do now is figure out who my dancer should be for each run (I'm thinking Dorothea for BE, Annette or F!Byleth (if possible) for BL, and Marianne for GD) and who gets Mortal Savant (other than Byleth most likely...and maybe Dorothea if she's not a dancer...)
  12. Maybe he left it as-is because he needed them to develop certain technologies in order for Scadrial as a whole to advance?
  13. Oh fun crackpot! I'm of the tinfoil theory that Tahidakar is Seberial, but since we have no proof either way keep on keeping on!
  14. Most fandoms with any two single main characters with any interaction (and some without) tbh. It only becomes a problem when fandoms get toxic (and given how great the mods are and interactive Brandon is with the fanbase as a whole, I don't see that happening for a long, LONG time).
  15. https://www.ign.com/videos/2019/07/12/fire-emblem-three-houses-a-look-at-all-the-classes
  16. After roughly three-to-four weeks, I've finished my binge of Brooklyn 99. And what a binge it was. The show is phenomenal and brilliant, and it might be one of my favorite comedy shows/sit-coms of all time. Next week I'll probably start Stranger Things 3 and Agents of SHIELD.
  17. I actually liked the flashbacks, despite the insane level of cheesiness about them. It really hit home the theme that Spider-Man's story is also Iron Man's epilogue. The two are linked in a way I find very gratifying, so the flashbacks to explain the characters and the villains and the tech felt...if not earned, then at least well placed. As for the Tony superweapon...yeah, I can see that. It didn't bother me really because the drones were simply drones, controlled by someone else, but I can definitely see where you're coming from (and to make it worse, in the meta-sense it was yet another CGI mook army!)
  18. No Maria Hill? Other than her great list!
  19. I've seen it twice and thoroughly enjoyed it each time. I'm not sure if this really makes sense to anyone but me but Homecoming was a better Spider-Man movie while Far From Home was a better movie about Spider-Man...if that makes sense. I LOVE Zendaya's MJ, moreso than the Raimi MJ (the classical/ideal approach) or Amazing Spider-Man's Gwen Stacy (the Lost Lenore). She's quirky, weird, and just plain DIFFERENT than all other versions I've seen and I really enjoy that. Mysterio's twist didn't fool me, especially given the character's history and some of the synopsis leaks I heard about. But he did fool my parents when they saw it and I like how his story was kind of meta. The MCU seeing audience - ESPECIALLY if they've seen Into the Spider-Verse or watched CW's The Flash - is ready to accept multiple realities after Endgame. And Beck saying "I'm a good version of this character you know" is a nice way to raise some doubt in our "he's obviously evil" mindset. It didn't work for everyone, but it was a fun mind game to see played. Overall I really, REALLY liked this movie. And then the post-credit scenes happened and they changed the game. Big stuff for Peter, potentially big stuff for the MCU as a whole. Far From Home serves as another solid entry in the MCU and for Spider-Man as a character, and is a nice little epilogue for Tony Stark's character.
  20. Was wondering when someone would bring this up. Yeah Iyatil being Vin would be cool, but some of her dialogue (about being hunters and whatnot) really points to her having heritage from Southern Scardrial. THAT BEING SAID, Brandon could be playing semantics, where the alias that is Vin is dead and the alias that is iyatil was born in Silverlight. Or maybe something weird like how the spirit and/or spirit web is the same but the cognitive and physical aspects are different/new...but that might lead into reincarnation stuff that I'm sure Brandon doesn't want to touch...then again that could be related to how the Heralds get new bodies/Kelsier's potential dilemma...Hmmm...the more tinfoil-y this gets, the more I like it!
  21. As the title says, who do you think will be join Wax on the cover of The Lost Metal?
  22. I kinda figured this'd be the case, but I honestly thought it'd be before SDCC so they could have a panel about Season 4 to hype it up and there'd be more discussion. Having a trailer drop during/at SDCC is good too, especially if it gets good attention; but there's always the fear it'll drop through the cracks. Either way, hopefully Season 3 will be out in July and we see more season this year in November or December.
  23. 10 separate types of pancakes of course! ...or would that be exclusive to the Roshar section of the park.
  24. When you rebuy Era 2 for yourself not only because you lost your SoS and BoM first edition hardcovers (and then gave the half-price book hardcover replacements you found to your best friend and don't expect them back) and never had AoL in hardcover...and you know that the leatherbound version will come out in 2021 and it's cheaper on Kindle... ...I also might have a problem with buying books.
  25. I haven't read a new book in months due to a reading slump of mine. I guess it's only a partial slump since I've been rereading all of Sanderson's full books. It started with The Rithmatist a couple of months ago, and then I decided to use my Mistborn Leatherbound books as books for once. Then about a week ago I finished the Reckoners trilogy. Next week I'll read Wax and Wayne (I need to buy them in hardcover since I never had AoL in hardcover AND I WANT IT; and gave away my SoS and BoM hardcovers...twice...). But that's not enough for me. I want to get to some new series...or at least start the books I've been buying over the past 6 months. So July (...at least until Fire Emblem: Three Houses comes out...) will be my month of doing so, leaving August my month of finishing up series. So what's on this list asked nobody ever? Allow me to share: Tad Williams - The Dragonbone Chair Sam Sykes - A City Stained Red Steven Erikson - Midnight Tides Django Wexler - The Infernal Battalion Those four books are my highest priority. As to which goes first...that's where I'm waffling a bit. I think I should bite the bullet and do The Infernal Battalion, but it's been SO LONG since I read a Malazan book. But I also feel the need to red Sam Sykes' stuff...so... I should also put Iron Gold on the list, but I don't feel as tempted to read it. Onto "later but still in July" books: Django Wexler - Ship of Smoke and Steel (but I can't start this until I finish The Infernal Battalion) Jay Kristoff (and Amie Kauffman) - Aurora Rising Cixin Liu - The Three Body Problem
