  1. Yeah, that's an unfortunate problem with gamification of things, some people take it way to seriously and think the points actually matter....You see it all the time on sites where gamification is at the core of the site (reddit, imgur, etc.)
  2. I believe "Sharder" is probably the defacto standard simply from community usage.
  3. Ah. I played shuffle for all of like 10 minutes and never opened it again. Not my kinda game.
  4. Are you talking about cosplay pikachu from ORAS? Because if so, that's one pikachu that you're given as a gift, and change the costume on manually to several different ones. You also can't trade/transfer it.
  5. FYI to all those wanting notifications, if you use chrome, you can get chrome notifications for 17th shard. That's what i have set up. You can even do chrome notifications on mobile, which will send notifications to your phone. I've not tried it with 17th shard specifically, but any notification that i get on the side pops up as a toast notification on my PC, and I use mobile notifications for other sites, so it should work the same as them. Edit: Also, if it doesnt work on mobile like it does on a PC for any particular reason, you could use push bullet to cause it to send notifications to your devices as well
  6. Topic unpinned, as most ooklas are now back to normal! Thanks for participating everyone! To those still ookla'd: Feel free to maintain your disguise however long you want, and continue the usual guessing game for anyone still not ID'ed!
  7. Welcome one and all once again to our yearly tradition! That's right Ookla the Mokovial is now! For those new to the tradition, every year around this time, we have fun renaming ourselves to "Ookla the _____" in celebration of @PeterAhlstrom, Brandon's assistant! For those wondering about the lore behind this holiday, i say shove off! ...Ok, fine. This tradition was started to recognize peter for generally being awesome for all the unseen work he does! The reason for the name change is because way back on the time waster's guide forums, peter went by the username "Ookla the Mok". In order to commemorate him and his old username, we came up with this tradition mostly off handedly and/or as a joke some 5 or 6 years back, and it just kinda stuck! The holiday generally runs until we get bored of it, which usually goes for about a week or so, so until then, try to come up with a creative, festive name!
  8. Honestly, IMO, they should be changed to something generic, just so the description doesn't continue to grow as more books are added, and less upkeep work.
  9. I vote for subforum of the Cosmere Q&A forum. Best place. Or coppermind. Edit: actually, people might forgive that choice because of the "Q&A", so let's change that to the "mistborn" forum. Best place.
  10. No problem! Always glad to throw around my (not very) UNLIMITED POWER around!
  11. I have received your summons. I agree, topic moved! BAM! MOD'D!
  12. Yeah, i don't really pay attention to singles.... And yeah, i'm not expecting any stat changes for alolan forms, but i do expect the movesets to change, otherwise they would be VERY confusing....
  13. yeah, but the 4x weaknesses are fire and fighting. Not exactly the MOST common of moves used, though competitively you'd probably have to watch out for eruption. I can't even think of a fighting move off hand that's common ENOUGH that i'd worry about it. Ground weakness kinda sucks, though, with precipice blades groudon being very common this year in general, plus earthquake is pretty much always a staple. It's only 2x, though. It has some pretty decent resistances with it, though. I'm honestly most interested to see HOW the movepool changes, though. Sandslash isn't exactly the most powerful 'mon, but it has an alright attack and defense stats, with the right movepool it could make a decent helping hand/follow me/fakeout supporter to go along with a new pretty good typing.
  14. I'm interested to see how the alola forms play out. Vulpix is one of my favorite pokemon, and i love the looks of ice vulpix. Alolan sandslash also has a really awesome typing (ice/steel). Makes me wonder how it will play out competitively, it might be a pretty decent stealth rock user (assuming its move pool doesn't change much, though i suspect it will)...
  15. Back in the day, we used to have "trophies" that were awarded for specific things, and displayed prominently on your profile. Sounds basically like what you're proposing here. I know chaos has indicated previously that trophies are coming back at some point in the future, but at this point we've been without them for something like ~4 years.
  16. IIRC the first one you're talking about is Son of Batman, and the second one is, indeed, Batman vs Robin. I'm not entirely sure which movies @Quiver is talking about off hand, though. As for those two movies, i really enjoyed the both of them. I thought they were good.
  17. IMO, the justice league animated films are usually some of the weaker movies (except for gods and monsters), but overall they aren't bad. I assume you're specifically asking about Justice League: Throne of atlantis, though? Since it's basically a direct sequel to war? It's pretty decent, but it kinda hinges a lot on how much you like the re-envisioned aquaman of the past ~15-20 years, as he (and atlantis) is pretty much a focal point of the story.
  18. If you like good super hero movies, you definitely should. Practically all of them are excellent in my opinion. I could see that. It's just always been my personal rule of thumb to stay away from DC live action for the most part, but be all on-board for marvel live action. And I find this funny, because personally i prefer DC over marvel (not that I hate marvel, of course). I do really wish that DC could produce some decent live action movies, I think it would be great. I've always felt, however, that the reason why they can't do live action well is because of the type of narrative each is based on. Specifically, Marvel generally focuses on a sort of more "real-world" where people got super powers kinda thing. That is, stuff like political situations are more real-world, and characters are a bit more relatable to the reader. Where as DC focuses on "larger than life" characters who are, effectively, gods compared to us and how they cope with their powers. Marvel's approach to super heroes translates to live action better than DC's, as i see it. Until then, however, i can live with the DC animated flicks, since they're great anyways.
  19. What fun is that when you can spring it on 'em!?
  20. IMO, DC's cinematic offerings are generally pretty bad. The only films they really seem to do well with are batman films (And not even all the time). I've honestly started avoiding their live action flicks. That said, their ANIMATED movies are generally wonderful. They actually did a good suicide squad animated movie a couple years ago (Assault on Arkham), and i HIGHLY recommend Justice League: Gods and Monsters (an alternate universe justice league). They actually did a small series of shorts on youtube before this movie released, which i also recommend, starting with "Bomb".
  21. The above only leads to "Max out IV's, and put EV's into stat X, Y, and Z". The common standard is EV's in your attack(max), speed(max), and HP(remaining). That said, this isn't ALWAYS the case, but it's a good rule of thumb. Pending on your party make up, you might go against this. Your team make up is going to dictate the majority of your stats and abilities and such.
  22. Ok, so a quick primer to EV's, IV's and natures. First off, every pokemon has 6 stats. HP, Attack, Defense, Special Attack, Special defense, and Speed. Each pokemon species has some value in each of stats that corresponds to it. For example, charmander gas 39, 52, 43, 60, 50, and 65 in all of these stats respectively. Every single charmander has these base stats. Suffice to say that "higher is better" for each of these stats, and these values, along with its level, are used to calculate its stats. Exactly how this works isn't important. But suffice to say at its base, every charmander of X level with have a certain amount in each stat derived by the above base stats. This, however, is not the entire picture. We have 3 different modifiers that effect stats. First, we have IV's (individual values). Every time you catch or hatch a pokemon, some value from 0-31 is assigned to each stat. This value is currently hidden from the user (but it's possible to figure them out, but that's not important at the moment). Again, exactly how these stats add in isn't exactly important (it's complicated formula based on level and base stats), but a charmander that has 0 in its HP will have LESS HP than a charmander that has 32. So again, suffice to say, higher is better. Note that the additions of these stats is much higher than 31 at the end of the day. At level 100, pending on your base stats, a 31 in your stat can give you upwards of a ~50-ish point difference. Today, IV's are set when you get them, but apparently in sun and moon, you will be able to modify them according to that hyper training page. Next we have EV's (effort values). EV's all start at 0 when you first obtain a pokemon. Whenever you fight a pokemon, use a vitamin, or go through super training (as of gen 6) your EV's increase by some amount. Any individual stat has a max of 252 EV points. EV points also increase the base stats of your pokemon species. So a charmander that has 252 EVs in HP has more HP than a pokemon with 0. Note that, because of the way EV's work, it goes in increments of 4. That is to say, an EV of 0-3 has the same effect as 0. An EV of 4-7 has the same effect as 4. Because of this, it's important to calculate your EV's in increments of 4 when training them. Why you may ask? Because any given pokemon only has a pool of 510 EV's to distribute. What does that mean? It means that you have a total of 510 EV points to split up among your 6 stats, and that's it. You could put 252 in HP, 200 in attack, and 58 in speed, and then that pokemon can't gain anymore EV's. Finally, we have the last piece of the stats puzzle. Nature. This one is honestly the easiest of the bunch. After all the above is said and done, and your pokemon has X base, Y IV, and Z EV, it will calculate the pokemon's stat. Once that is done, it will now consult the pokemon's nature. Every nature increases one stat by 10%, and decreases another stat by 10%. This happens after all EV's and IV's are calculated, so it's a final modifier. There's a nature for every stat combination, including the same stat (neutral natures). That is to say, there's a nature that gives +10% HP, -10% attack and one for +10% HP, -10% special attack. There's EVEN a nature for +10% HP and -10% HP. This is what's known as a neutral nature. It cancels itself out, and doesn't affect your stats. After all this is said and done, a perfect IV pokemon with a particular EV trained and the appropriate increasing nature in a stat, you can see anywhere upwards of a 200 stat point difference in that particular stat at 100. So at the end of the day, for the competitive scene, it REALLY matters. One more small tip: The attack stat drives how much damage a pokemon deals to itself with when it's confused. In general, if you aren't going to have a pokemon use the attack stat (a physical attacker), you actually want it to have a 0 in its IV's, to minimize confusion damage.
  23. Good news, everyone! Hyper training might make breeding for IV's irrelevant! That said, I can explain how IV/EV training works if you want.
  24. Reminds me of this from when people were speculating on fennekin.
  25. Grass/flying would look like: 4x: ice 2x: fire poison flying rock 1x: normal electric psychic bug ghost dragon dark steel fairy 0.5x: water fighting 0.25x: grass 0x: ground While water/fairy would look like: 2x: electric grass poison 1x: normal ground flying psychic rock ghost steel fairy 0.5x: fire water ice fighting bug dark 0x: dragon The latter has more resistances and less weaknesses, so it's probably the better "type" overall. However, competitively speaking, immunity to ground is nice, as it avoids a lot of big attacks like earthquake, or the (these days) ubiquitous primal groudon precipice blades. That said, realistically, the starters probably won't be worth too much from a competitive angle (they usually arent), so pick whichever one you want! Let the rest of your team round out the weaknesses of your starter.
