  1. That actually is a cool idea. It would mean Adolin and Renarin are children of a shard. Which maybe plays into why Adolin is resurrecting his shardblade? Iirc it used to be a Cultivationspren. Avatar would be the correct term for what he proposed in the section you quoted.
  2. And we only know of two Lightweavers. I would have to assume that this hypothetical war is happening many years in the future/past. They test anyone they suspect. Also they can have their spren look for Cryptics.
  3. I see what your saying, but I think Preservation's investiture would most naturally fuel Preservation's magic system. I'm willing to have my mind changed!
  4. Hmmm... I hadn't thought of it from that angle. I think you would have problems with it not being keyed to your identity... But then again there are unkeyed metalminds... But I think I'm staying with my original opinion as feruchemy relies on investiture from people's spirit webs while alomancy is just power flowing through metal.
  5. I don't think so, but keep in mind that I'm spit balling. My reasoning is that in alomancy the investiture is flowing through the metal from Preservation to you, while in feruchemy the investiture is coming from the user themselves.
  6. I mean, cognitive shadows can form nahel bonds, so not sure if a shard absolutely couldn't... Also why would it be romantic?
  7. I don't think it would do anything feruchemicaly as feruchemy is a mix of ruin and Preservation. I could see it boosting alomancy though as that's purely of Preservation. (Actually I'm picturing what Vin did to be rather similar.)
  8. It's never been done before but that doesn't mean it can't be done. The mists are just free flowing investiture so I guess it could be done with some work. Whether there's any advantage/reason to is a whole another question.
  9. Windrunners could win just through shear numbers. One windrunner can equate twenty squires. Sure other orders have squires but none of them to the degree of windrunners.
  10. Bob Voidbane (idk creativity is a little low today...)
  11. I don't think he had the powers long enough for one to manifest. If he had held the powers long enough he definitely would have. What that resonance would have been, I couldn't tell you:-)
  12. *reading post about Odium* *Someone mentions Odium might be Passion* *Waits for Rshara's typical comeback* *Realizes that I've been in a time loop ever since oathbringer was published*
  13. Nations are made out of people... To the point: I do believe Brandon has been introducing a lot of people from other countries. Not only is this good world building but it will make a unified Roshar a whole lot more interesting/cool. I haven't thought about this much, but I'll come back if I think of something!
  14. I believe what he meant was that the surges represent cosmere wide phenomena. The surgebinders just use the surges, but the surges themselves exist everywhere. So unless you're saying gravity doesn't exist on Scadrial, you both agree. I agree. I'm sure the spren were experimenting and shardplate just kind of happened. Did they really discover how to bond dead blades by accident? I thought they were actively trying to discover how.
  15. I could keep debating this for a long time, however this has nothing to do with topic so I'll go away now:-)
  16. Not trying to be difficult, but they are actually only made up of R/P. That's why R/P can talk/listen directly to people's minds. It's why Ruin could alter texts ect...
  17. Actually Scadrial is a special case. The people are only made out of two shards.
  18. Well, that would be using a spike as a metalmind. I'm interested in the reverse. As in making a metalmind then using it to spike someone.
  19. Is it possible to use a metalmind as a spike? If yes, what effect would it have, if any? Would the level of investment of the metalmind have a noticeable effect? If yes, at what point would it be too invested to use?
  20. I really liked that idea! So far everyone under Odium's influence has been impulsive. I feel like Spite could be a alternate name as well.
  21. Just in case you haven't finished oathbringer Also the title sounds like a great name for a tavern!
  22. I've seen lots of talk about bonding spren of different orders but what about bonding two spren of the same kind? (Ie bonding two honor spren.) Is it even possible? If no, than why? Would you be able to get a compounding effect like with the honor blades? How much better would your stormlight efficiency be, especially in the early stages? Would saying one oath work to advance you in both bonds or would you need to swear slightly different oaths to each spren?
