  1. Well, Leras refers to Hoid as Cephandrius. Is it his real name? Hold is one of the few people who seem to know the original names of the Shard Holders after all. So it's not a stretch to say they knew him.
  2. Hmm. To Support this Theory, that a new bearer of the BoM would gain TLR powers; we are supposing that the Bands were Spikes of TLR. Specifically, that the BoM were Hemalurgicaly ripping his Spirit Web off. Wouldn't this kill him? I was under the impression that the BoM were Spikes he made from someone(s), and Spiked himself with them. This served the dual purpose of r enhancing his power, while keeping his most precious metal-minds close and "theoretically" un-Pushable. If TLR were merely sticking his metal-minds into his arm would they be considered Hemalurgic Spikes? I don't believe so. All of this meaning, that this theory is heavily dependent on what Identity can be tapped from the BoM. As a side note, who WAS Spiked to make the BoM?
  3. Dosnt matter. They go the Beyond same as humans. Qualifier for a soul I'd say..
  4. Iyatil's mask has not come off, that we are aware of. Shallon does remark that the mask appears to have skin growing around the edges.
  5. Since this is going to be a major theme in book 3, I though we might brainstorm about how to defeat Prof. Jonathan Phadreus. For the sake of argument, we are not pursuing his weakness, but actual counters to his Epic profile. His known powers are: 1: Accelerated healing. This is not instant healing, but an increased rate at which the body would heal from. I think. Barring David's bizarre encounter with Obliteration; I'm of the opinion David is now an Epic; we've never seen someone regrow lost limbs, the body simply recovers. Prof's head heals up fine after SteelHeart pummeled it. Scrapes and cuts and broken bones mend. But it all takes time. It also works automatically regardless of the state or consciousness the body is in. 2: Telekinetic barriers. Evidently these arnt relegated to personal defense as we were originally shown. Instead it might as well be true telekinesis. It's interesting to note they disperse heat and smoke. They are also manually activated. 3: Tensors. Metal disintegration. Offensive in use mostly but able to destroy incoming bullets and other weapons. (4): Increased dexterity. I'm not 100% sure on the dexterity, but I believe it's warranted considering the SteelHeart fight. Of course increased reflexes makes everything more difficult to kill him, but he doesn't appear to have a near-prescient ability to dodge. So there is an upper limit to his agility, I just have no idea how to quantify what he might be capable of. Given all of this I'm of the opinion nothing short of complete destruction of his body will stop his healing abilities. At least as far as physical trauma. His shields can funnel what might as well have been an atomic bomb at the end of FireFight. So heat and kinetic energy is a no go. The opposite, cold is likely able to be deflected, if it's a beam like a flamethrower. I'm curious though, if the shields are able to provide a sustainable living environment for extended time such as a blizzard. I'm not certain he would survive dangerously low or high temperatures. Poison might be plausible, but I think it carries the risk that Prof's healing might activate. Asphyxiation seems to me to be a method that might bypass all his powers. Unlike drowning, where the Prof might be able to hold back water, we're instead denying the entry of a crucial element to his body completely. So there's nothing for the shields to stop, but would his healing powers keep him conscious? Alive? Revive him from death completely? I think asphyxiation bears merit, any thoughts?
  6. This would work, but it would be dependent on a Lashing via the Gravitation surge. If the Adhesion Surge is used though, no movement at all should possible. Adhesion relies upon the use of a vacuum, not friction; therefore it should be possible to snare an item Invested with Friction (reduction). I suppose the only problem I see, is whether Adhesion's Investiture over powers Friction's. We're aware that Lift can make things a "little slick" or "REALLY slick". Which indicates she can increase or decrease the amount of Investiture being expended. I can't think of an instance anywhere in which Adhesion was "powered up" so to speak. Kaladin and Szeth both spray large patches of it to increase it's effective range of use, but I don't equate that with a singular increase of Investiture being used "per inch" if that makes any sense. So yea, Friction vs. Adhesion Investiture battle royale! Any thoughts?
  7. Concerning the Pits of Hathsan actually...isn't the 4th book, "The final metal"? Has BS ever cleared up what Harmony is doing with his extra but if Ruin?
  8. I'd be very interested to see if the Set dosnt begin to use this new method of recycling Hemalurgical Spikes to start creating Proto-Mistborn
  9. The thing about most weapon forms is that it's usually a matter of gaining leverage, and positioning of weapon for the coup de grace. None of that is really relevant in most Shardblade battles originally, as the weapons were for battling Desolation, not people dueling other Shardbearers. So o guess to answer the OP; realistically it would only make sense for the KR to practice with 2 handed great swords for the extended range of said b weapons.
  10. We should also keep in mind that the Alethi alphabet is not the same as ours. I never payed to much attention to it, but as I recall the th and sh phonetics in our language are single letters in Alethi. I'm sure there are other letters that are iinterchanged as well
  11. Neat idea, but listeners can't become Radiants/form Nahel Bond.
  12. A nature of attrition seems unlikely to me. This is a fight that would be decided in seconds I think.
  13. I originally really liked the idea of the 3 Super Spren being the the spren for the 3 Bondsmiths. I now disagree intensely with it. Mainly because of the Recreance. Syl rapidly degenerated to Windspren intelligence level during Kaladin's indiscretion. What woul happen if a Bondsmith intentionally forsook his oaths? Logically we should see a degeneration of their individuality as seen in Syl. So if the super spren were the Bondsmiths Nahel, why is it that the Stormfather and Nightwatcher still retain their adult to reason and communicate?
  14. I've always been curious as to how individualized the metal being compounded has to be. I mean can Miles just swallow some gold dust and go to work?
  15. The thing I'm curious about is whether BS was hinting that Taln dosnt think he's Taln. We've been talking about compartmentalizing of the mind after all. We have a example in WoK of Kaladin the wretch thinking that Kaladin Stormblessed was a dead man, due to his failure with Amaran. I'm seeing an interesting parallel between Kaladin and Taln viewing themselves as failures, and cognitively as different people.
  16. I am currently imagining Lopen training likeKaladin in WoR. "Come on now mates. The Lopen has glowing to be done!"
  17. You mean retail.
  18. EHyde Q: And, how were the Radiants able to summon their Shardblades at the Recreance if they'd already decided to break their oaths? A: Their Shardblades are part of what brought them to--part of the Oathpact--but breaking the Oathpact did not affect their ability to bond or unbond Shardblades. Was there a misunderstanding of the question? Or is this poorly worded? Because of the phrasing, it sounds like the KR were a part of the Oathpact. Now they were founded after after the Oathpact was created by enterprising spren, however Nalan is hunting down Surgebinders under the belief that they could return Desolation to Roshar. This implies that Surge-binding causes the Desolation countdown to tick forward. There is another quote in there somewhere that says "Heralds must leave after X amount of time or Desolation continues." Perhaps the Oathpact clause involves the actual use of Surge-bindings, rather than the ability to use them. I would like to point as evidence of this that Nalan himself takes in Stormlight to chase down Lift, but doesn't use any particular Surges.
  19. I totally accepted Mrall as a sociopath. The wording "to turn off" emotions is classic behavior of sociopaths. Literally able to shut off emotions responses in regards to environmental stimuli....Ya he's a psycho...
  20. Butcher by trade...bloodstream... LOL was supposed to be bloodspren And painspren I guess
  21. Something I didn't understand about WoR that was implied. Are KR more powerful than the Heralds? Or perhaps, which would have an easier time fighting of Desolation: 10 Knights or Heralds? The impression I received was that the Honorblades suck up alarming amounts of Stormlight compared to the Nahel bond, so barring individual swordplay, what has the greatest potential. Honor's chosen? Or the spren's partners?
  22. I can't for the life of me recall any instances of a "sensation spren" that involved a pleasant sensation to the individual ex: Smellgoodspren or aromaspren. I don't know whether this observation provides evidence for or against this idea as I see interpretations going both ways. These "sensation spren" don't cover the entire range of sensations and therefore pain spren is an emotion spren. These "sensation spren" don't cover the entire range of sensations because they're Odium based or hate based and do not express themselves as anything an individual would not enjoy. We simply haven't seen these Smellgoodspren in action yet.
  23. On the contrary it says he guards it like his own skin. I interpret this as his body, implying he ingested it. I always assumed he used it to grant Feruchemy, but he evidently is Soothing Lan in WoR... You forgot that he has Talendel's Honorblade, so tag Stormlight use, Tension, and Cohesion Surges. Weiry ninja!
  24. LoL I like the jump from Truthless to Honorspren
  25. I believe Brandon confirmed Honor, Cultivation, and Odium on Roshar. Setting aside the many, many references from the Stormfather...
