Adolin took to Destination more than Journey. He could have warned Sadeas. He could have waited until their duel. He could have hired assassins. He did none of these things. He intentionally took it upon himself to end the most destabilizing factor in Alethekar, a man whose hands are black with blood. I say it quite often in real life. Right, wrong, and legal are different 3 different subjects. Ending Sadeas was right, but it wasn't legal, or entirely honorable for a 20 something year old warrior to jump a 50+ year old man. I still would have done it.

That's an interesting idea. I mean there's a neat little description about him weeping reading about the monstrosities he had planned.I think it would be fun to see Cultivation explain that idea to Mr. T. Something like: "You were supposed to write a plan that didn't make you weep at night!" Actually there is a lot of play room in the wording of those requests. Enough rope for The Devil Cultivation to hang you with. Depending on the wording Mr T used. He didn't say Mr. T wants the capacity to save the world. He said I want the world to have the chance to save itself. Etc. Etc. And that's just playing with the wording. If someone asked the world to suddenly be exploding, she can cover the world in bubbles and pop them. Never said exploding What or how long. Or how damaging, dosnt matter how you feel about it. There must have been a nugget of insight from somewhere. Predicting general politics of nations for maybe a month into the future? for a super genius? Maybe, okay..Predicting global socio-restructuring during a tumultuous global catastrophe on an apocalyptic scale?? on a global basis for the next 20 years? Ummm. Magic? Maybe? Then there's the cascade effect. Every little decision adds up into a different future, causing greater and greater divergence from the original predictions less and less useful. Already we're seeing huge divergents from the Diagram. That Mr T succeeded this well is near Shardic in nature.

I begin with a question. What name did Hoid use as the storyteller in Warbreaker? I wish my copy was on hand, but alas. Pg. 976 "Do you know where the Kings Wit is?" Zahel, " That fool, Dust? Not here, blessedly." Dust, in this sentence, is a name. If the theory about Zahel is correct, then with this evidence, Vasher knows Wit to be a Worldhopper. Furthermore, I speculate that they're working together with Nalan. I'll have to go back and check for the references, to see if Hoid was walking about with Nightblood at any time: all I remember was v something about a slim sword.

I have to disagree. Jasnah turned a mugger into fire. I'm relatively sure his cognitive self did not appreciate that and was opposed to it. Originally I wasn't either, but we have two instances where we KNOW the gem was inherently important to the Soul-casting, she a third that supports this idea. First is the poisoning scene. Jasnah specifically calls for a garnet to do the blood cleansing. That's pretty substantial evidence when our Roshar/Cosmere/Soul-casting expert says she needs it. Second is indirect. The gemstone economy. Emerald is at the top of the list of valuables, and that its specifically because it and only it can Soulcast food. Thirdly my supporting evidence: smokestone. Every instance of seeing anything turned to smoke has the Soul-Caster bearing smokestone. That's Jasnah and the mysterious stranger who recruited Szeth. In the first instance, I was willing to believe that this could be because blood is 1 of 10 essences. Food however isn't an essence. So its fair extrapolation to say Soul-casting requires specific gemstones.

Tears of Edgli I think? The crystals are maybe Atium crystals? Those were soft enough to break bare handed.

Very well I parry your riposte and counter with Stormlight. If the bridgemen was a Herald, he would not need medical attention. Darkness can take in Stormlight even if he dosnt Surgebind. I.E. the bridgemen would have healed with the the Storm light in his spheres/ other people's spheres.

First off, I down voted this accidentally, could someone correct? If Brayse is close enough to affect the gravitational orbit of the moons, Roshar is in big trouble. Bad enough on the million of year scale that the moons arn't geosynchronous, but if a planet is tugging those moons around as well then the problem is accelerated to a few millennia. Also there is as much evidence that Damnation is in Shadesmar as it is on Brayse (which is none). We have zero information on its location.

The Ultimate List of Questions for Brandon
DocHoliday replied to Chaos's topic in Cosmere Discussion
So Leras mind was actually the Pits? I was under the impression it was the WoA locking Ruin's mind away from his body. Seems I had it backwards, he locked the power up from the mind. I didn't think it was a system of condensing Investiture into Atium though. Had the impression the Pits were a natural release valve for Investiture the way Aons are for for the Dor. What then of Lerasium? Preservation only had the 16 beads and as far as we know they never regenerate. Does burning i those beads destroy the Investiture forever? That dosnt exactly mesh with this idea. If the Pits were Leras' way of containing Ruin, the Physical "body" of Ruin should have been forming in another way prior to its containment. -
The Ultimate List of Questions for Brandon

Why does v Ruin have a body? Extreme levels of Investiture rips troughs through the physical body of aShardholder (WoB). The Mists vaporize Vin. What Physical body are we referring to? If it's the physical portion of Ruin, I understand. There are 3 Realms, however they're connected. All is one, and one is all kind of thing. So if using the Physical Portionportion if Investiture, the Investiture should return to the Spiritual and Cognitive portions it Ruin. -
Meh, Gaz got a POV and alot more mention, he's not important to anything is he a Herald to? What do you mean be reoccurring info? Accent? To other Brits, the British don't have an accent. To the Aussies, Australians don't have an accent. In America there are those of 1st generation decent who look Mestizo, German, Italian, Chinese, Japanese, etc...but who have no accent and speak perfect American (I consider it different than English, TY). Looks do not necessarily equal accent my friend.

Totally read this thread title as Amaran is the Devil, then I looked at the original poster and said oh god, what now 2 days before release?? Please tell me I'm not alone...

Ah, meaning no offense, you began with an excellent discussion. I disagreed in the OP and you seem to have adopted my dissemination. I'm just riding your coat tails ( ), as you appear to have the know how to prove or disprove these ideas. Which is PERFECT. Figuring out the Cosmere ain't about who was right it wrong, but what is right and wrong. Keep up the good work.

The Ultimate List of Questions for Brandon
DocHoliday replied to Chaos's topic in Cosmere Discussion
In WoA: Human the Koloss has to discover the Trust is empty before Ruin notices that there is no Atium. If Atium is the physical manifestation of Ruin's Investiture, when it is burnt it is returned to the source: Ruin. So Elend burning all the Atium was in the end a net gain for Ruin. But why was he unaware of it returning? Is the amount so miniscule that it was unnoticeable? Also, if there is more Presentation than Ruin in every human, and the above question is correct, why was the Vin v. Ati reaction so balanced? Should not Ruin have come out on top? Or is this simply a matter of polarised Intents being incompatible? -
Blood/plasma/etc... is about all you could donate as its an ongoing intravenous process. Donating organs is very philanthropic (somehow I doubt that's the right word) and all, but I doubt think anyone has the stomach (literally) to withstand such a process. Reminds me of the Heralds torture..

I'm certain that it would return Ruin Investiture. TLR stored it for a purpose, an attempt ultimately to weaken the one he considered his true foe. Yes, he used it for his Compounding. What other choice did he have? He also used it to control the Houses. This was a poor decision I think. Considering how brutal be was with the Skaa, a little shock and awe with the nobles should have been a far easier route than economic policies. Look at Russia and Ukraine this very day. But in the end he was storing 9/10 of all the Atium in the world. This is a PERFECT indication that he was trying to siphon away Ruin's power. HoA spoilers:

Miles was healing at pedal-to-da-medal speed every second, I don't think his body ever had a second to register something is wrong. Even when he breaks his leg he says he feels his legs try to break, the cracks resealing even as they appeared. To donate an organ you can't heal. A Dr. Would open you up and wouldn't have time to remove anything. Which means until it's over, you're gonna be in alot of pain. Like I says. Good . Luck.

How does a shard world or magic change when a shard shatters?
DocHoliday replied to menacekop's topic in Cosmere Discussion
We have confirmation from the big man that these were changes performed intentionally by Sazed to. Except possibly the Cadmium /Atium switch I think. Relatively sure that was simply a misinformation thing. -
There also is a WoB apparently that all Investiture works like a water wheel in a river. Every time that Investiture (river) is tapped(wheel) it circles around and is returned to its original source (shard). I really can see no other way to interpret this as anything but evidence that the OP is correct, Breath may very well be the gaseous form of Endowment Investiture.

Indeed, this was one of the steps where Kaladin is opening up his shell after his torment and abuse. He began with bridge 4. Then he helped all bridgemen. Then he saved the army. Now he's protect Lighteyes. Next he will save the Alethekar as a Surgebinder. Ultimately he will save the world as a KR. It's a series of steps in his character progression that Sanderson is utilizing effectively; representing Kaladin's acceptance of leading and protecting more and more people in stead of a core group of 4 or 5 friends.
