  1. That was the thread I was referencing. Peter said it is I'm not mistaken. Thanks for the quick reply.
  2. Hmm. I'm still of the opinion that the moons are not in the same orbit. The timing of the moon rise is very specific. But as I previously stated, I don't think this is due to your Langrous point speculation, and owes more to intentional placement of these astral objects. I have no evidence beyond initial observations of the amount of light provided however. Also of we take the Rosharan day of 19 hours, we get 9+1/2 hours of darkness. If Salas is in the air for 3 hours, we have 1 hour of no moonlight. That leaves us with approximately 2+3/4 hours of light for Nomon and Mishim. Would that help your math Leiyan?
  3. Anesthetic is technically a poison like alcohol,...good luck with donating organs...
  4. So his eyes are supposed to be Sapphire with Stormlight? I asked on another thread and got no answer. My Ebook says they turned Amber.
  5. An elliptical orbit bringing a Phobos sized moon out of geosynchronous orbit would appear larger than the .14° Leiyan is proposing wouldn't it? His Szeth quote also mentions that Nomon only gives a little more light than Salas, not necessarily alot more light. Being that Salas produces violet light I think it's fair to say that it does a poor job of actually illuminating nighttime Roshar. Yet Kaladin and Rock are able to see well enough by it to make their way through camp by it. But if Nomon, a blue white moon, only produces slightly more light, then it probably isn't much larger (to appearances) than Salas. All this is to say that I don't think they're necessarily in the same orbit around Roshar. Since we are aware that they appear in the same order every night for thousands of years, I think its more than nature taking it's course. That seems artificial.
  6. Hmm I may have misinterpreted it. Pg . 508-509 "did they teach you about the nature of theAlmighty? The divine prism, with the 10 facets representing the 10 Heralds?"
  7. Fair enough points, we really just cannot be sure what he had Invested in on Roshar at this point. Although he was not present to Invest early in the humans we have precedent of Shardic meddling in genetics and Investiture post human creation. You also correct concerning the Divine Breath. I was asserting that the Investiture is returned post mortem.
  8. I don't think that reasoning his water. Odium is intent on destroying Roshar specifically to reclaim all his Investiture. If he could just up and go, why does he sit around to Final Desolation the world? From Sel we know he doesn't care about other Shards minions. So I think it's fair to conclude the death of Roshar would return his Investment. Therefore when a human is born they get receive that Preservation Sentient Investiture, and when they die its returned. When a Returned returns, they receive a divine Breath. When they due or use said Breath, it is returned to Endowment. Makes sense to me.
  9. . Someone in WoK mentions that Odium's prison has ten facets. 10 Heralds, 10 facets. I imagine something like a d10 dice with Odium inside, and Taln is the only side still there. So Odium has been free to tamper with Roshar, but not show up full force. Similar to WoT DO. Jezrien also replies to Kalak's remark "they rely on us" with "they have the Radiants now, that will be enough." There's a possibility that KR bonded spren acted as a bandaid for Odium's prison: pertinent to Green Hoodie' s spoiler.
  10. I don't see it happening either. I just think it's theoretically possible. Also although Stormlight helps strange of bbc the effects of not breathing, it does not eliminate them completely. So ya, hold your breath!
  11. My quote-fu is weak, but yes there is a WoB concerning this. Mistborn and AoL spoilers. They only thing that is not clear is wether or not its an initial seed cloning itself (unlikely I think as this would allow infinite Investiture), or a genetic trait that so siphons of more and more Investiture. I am a proponent of the latter. Odium is well known to never want to Invest. It's a slippery slope.
  12. My Lord could also be a reference to the fact that Jezrien appears to also lead the Heralds. A king among Heralds if you will.
  13. Quite true! Map Napoleon ate with Aluminum silverware specifically because it was more expensive than gold at the time.
  14. I don't think it's likely, but it might be a possibility. If you can Surgebind 32 lbs of pressure per square inch on your body, and hold your breath for the ride; I'd say that Wind Running to the moon is quite feasible.
  15. Swimmingly has it right. BS does a good job of sticking to physics usually, but the simple facts are that he uses Spirit Web to explain away alot of the "Harry Potter magic" we see. I mean looking at Lashings and Syl WoR spoiler: This indicates that it is much more of a spiritual thing involving magic ideas (spren). It's Harry Potter magic. But there's an explanation behind it rather than "repairo ocullis. Look! magic"
  16. What would you do with a thousand years to run an empire I second this: WoB is TLR suffered a partial decapitation. I don't think that even he would survive a full cut off though. As long as there is some tissue connecting the head to the body, the cells have a highway to rebuild what's needed, but they still need the mental command to tap Feruchemical gold and go to work. Cognitively speaking: I do not believe the command to tap Feruchemical gold is carried out through the spinal cord the way other brain commands are. I believe that it is a function of your Cognitive Aspect, your being as a whole of you will, wanting it to happen. But I do think that it is centered in your cranium, the birthplace of cogniscence. Cognitive perceptions:Think about this, if there is TLR standing there with his head cut 3/4 of the way off and hanging by a tissue, what do you perceive it to be? You think "omg that's a person dieing!" (Note, person) If you see a body standing there with it's head on the ground, what is probably the first thought in your mind? "OMG that's a head!" (Note: head) In our minds in the second example we see the 2 pieces as distinct separate entities. I don't think it strains reason to say TLR would have similar perceptions, even despite his belief in his own superiority. Therefore I would conclude that separating the head from the Metal-Minds would prevent any Feruchemy from taking place. Fool should have worn an earring. Or teeth! GOLD teeth! TLR just turned his swag on. (Side note: My kindle came programmed with swag in its dictionary, I've lost all faith in mankind)
  17. Why not? Every Scadrian is born with a bit of Preservation in them, and he never had to purposely grant it (aside from getting the ball rolling). Why couldn't Endowment do the same thing?
  18. To Terminus!
  19. Something about this just screams no to me. IDK why
  20. There was some confusion. You were talking about using galactic dust to accelerate. It's unnecessary. Lashing does not follow the same dynamics as Steelpush and Ironpull. When Steelpushing you are forcing your body to overcome its inertia and gravity's pull you. You're acceleration decreases the further away you are from your anchor. Lashing redirects gravity to the direction you choose. There is no anchoring point from which you are pushing yourself.
  21. BWFWUA I love my pet acronyms
  22. I had a conversation tonight about the Thrill and found myself explaining it to a first time reader of WoK, and found something interesting. The Thrill is basically adrenaline. I don't think that any one disputes this? But then I threw out the definition of Thrill; and a light bulb came on Thrill:a sensation of excitement and pleasure. This is about more than adrenaline junkies like Sadeas. It's about making the Alethi love fighting. The KR from Star fall talks about fighting, even against "the enemy" would change an individual, but they know how to stop it. Dalinar himself is enjoying the Thrill in WoK then has a realization of the task brutality of what he is doing, and freezes up. I think what we see in all the above cases is a mental recognition of what they are doing and what this makes them feel, and how the two should not coincide. Similar to a Scadrian recognizing that they are being manipulated by Emotional Allowmancy. Once they recognize that what they feel does not add up to what they believe, they have the tool to combat said manipulation.
  23. more like remembering the face of the guy who shot my best friend last year. Murder has a way of imprinting things into the mind. I say murder, not killed, not executed.
  24. Why do I keep seeing references to galactic dust in relation with Lashing? It is possible to Lash without having a specific target in mind. Lash yourself as many times as you want to cover the distance. Use a basic Lashing in the opposite direction to arrest forward momentum. Use Szeth's fancy 9/10 of weightlessness in the original direction for a landing an Eagle would envy.
  25. Huh? Source? Atium Compounding. So many roadblocks.. Edit: thank you Moogle! Hadn't realized he'd z answered so many of our theories so recently. So to clarify, TLR used Preservation to rewrite his SWeb into a Lerasium Mistborn+1 ?
