  1. I started reading but had a hard time getting into it. Weird for a Butcher book. I'll try to get back into it soon.
  2. I don't recall seeing anything that says the Idrian Royals have anything more than a single Breath. Do you have a source for that?
  3. Nahel Spren do seem to be more powerful than Honorblades. They can shapeshift, and seem to grant better Stormlight use than Honorblades do. However, Heralds do seem to have other powers as well. They're functionally immortal, and we see Taln display crazy fast reaction time when a dart is blown at him.
  4. Very interesting. I think that the Truthwatchers very well may be linked to the Hierocracy if they are the order that didn't foreswear. The Skybreaker theory also has merit, although I do wonder if their spren would be able to stay in Shinovar for very long. As to whether Truthwatchers could send a spren... Well, we do know that a KR told Dalinar in one of his visions that he would probably be accepted into one of the orders if he went to Urithiru. So it seems that there is some way for potential Radiants to be selected by either the KR or Spren in some sort of training program.
  5. That doesn't tell us how long they have been on Roshar, it just says that those strains (Humans and Parshendi, or Aimans and Rockeaters?) existed before those individuals took up those Shards (so before the Shattering of Adonalsium?), but those strains could have existed in the TH.
  6. Good job on that WoB. It confirms that Odium is not locked into the Greater Roshar System in such a way he couldn't send his Godmetal over. But that begs the question: How would he form a Godmetal in the first place? Metals are important on Scadrial.
  7. I highly doubt it.
  8. I believe it's just part of the Hallendren religion. Part of it may be because they believe the Returned are no longer human and should not cling to their previous lives. Another part may be that they believe the Returned need rediscover their own purpose for Returning, without help.
  9. Whaaaaat?! This would be amazing!
  10. Using the Feruchemy trick, the Feruchemist can Awaken an object so that others can access the Breaths. As to the OP, Breath will decay out of objects over a period of time, which is why they can't make Awakened Objects that keep working forever, which would be very useful in something like a factory or plantation. So eventually the Breaths stored in a teddy would just decay away and return to...wherever investiture goes after it's used.
  11. Don't be such a wool head.
  12. Sorry, yes, I think that's right. But I also seem to recall that if both pieces are about the same size, the person with the bond would win. I'm not finding WoB on that, so it's possible I'm remembering wrong. But there is WoB that there is a lesser bond with Shardplate than with a Blade.
  13. We don't know what Leraium steals, so it's possible that all God Metals steal multiple traits.
  14. I guess it's possible, but don't think so. Brandon made a fake work for people to call aluminum on Sel. Maybe Silver is also weird throughout the Cosmere, or maybe just on Threnody.
  15. But Naln has Nightblood, not the scholars who are trying to create new Shardblades. And those scholars wouldn't have access to Awakening. And Nightblood is a Shardblade, but by WoB Szeth still can't draw in Stormlight even though he has Nightblood. So he doesn't grant the same powers as other Shardblades. Although you could be right about something. Vasher is posing as an Alethi Ardent, and the rumors were that Alethi Scholars were close to creating Shardblades... So depending on whether Vasher lost Nightblood before or after he got to Roshar it's possible those rumors are based on Nightblood....
  16. I personally don't like the idea of a banishment for Adolin. I think times are too desperate for them to waste a full shardbearer like that. Maybe he'll be "banished" but really sent on a secret mission to go save people in Kholinar or something. Reviving the blade either with or without the gem are both plausible. My thoughts are that the gem allows him to already have a sort of bond with the spren, so he just needs to strengthen that bond in order to draw the spren out. I'm not sure how you can bond a spren that is locked in a Blade and can't communicate, other than screaming in pain, without the gem.
  17. It's a common speculation around here, so there's really no source to point to.
  18. Hmm, we've known aluminum is weird for a long time now, but I never gave any thought to WHY it's weird. Interesting theory.
  19. Terry was very worried that Szeth would kill him if Szeth realized he didn't actually need to be a Truthless. So he lied about the Regrowth honorblade to keep Szeth from killing him.
  20. No no, snorting is not about mucus. Pigs do this thing, yes? Everyone is pigs.
  21. I imagine it going something like this: Adolin learns that Shardblades are actually dead spren, then he sets out to find a way to revive his Blade.
  22. Now that you mention it, it is odd that Vasher/Zahel is now known as a great swordmaster, given his lack of skill compared to Denth and Arsteel. Maybe he was still very skilled compared to regular mortals, he just paled in comparison to those two. Or maybe he's had a long time to improve since then.
  23. Patterns. Hmmm! Most of our canon terms come from the way the writer/s of the Ars Arcanum would refer to them, or from other in-cosemere uses. So if Sazed decides that his metal should be called something, that's the canonical way to refer to it. These characters can be very unconventional inconsistent about how they name things! Edit: I meant inconsistent, not unconventional.
