  1. Yay, I really enjoyed seeing her in Bands. Has it been directly confirmed yet that she wrote the Ars Arcanum? At this point it seems pretty obvious that she is the writer, I just don't know if we've had direct WoB on that yet. And yeah, I already know about the one saying she's the most knowledgeable person about the Cosmere.
  2. Or maybe a spren that took a physical form other than a Shardblade?
  3. I know the WoB you're talking about. Basically, Peter told Brandon he'd microwave everyone if there was redshift in the bubbles.
  4. Let's see, the first arc of SA takes place after Era 1 of Mistborn. Era 1.5 happens 341 years after Era 1, but also sometime after the first arc of SA. So that puts Era 1 about 300 years, at the most, before SA.
  5. Weiry, Brandon probably wrote that post script before he wrote the State of the Sanderson. It seems like he decided on a whim in that State of the Sanderson post to start calling it Era 1.5
  6. Cool, thanks Peter.
  7. Well, the Shards broke into 16 different intents, which matches the number of people who participated in using the weapon to kill Adonalsium. It seems that there could have been 17 Shards if another person had been involved. Indeed, it seems that Hoid rejected the others, so he could have been the Vessel for the 17th Shard if he went along with them. So the 17th Shard is hunting the person who could have been the 17th Shard...
  8. The shards for Vin and Ati were only fine because someone was able to quickly take up the power. They probably would have shattered if not for Sazed.
  9. Yeah, Hoid and Kelsier are two similar characters who ended up butting heads. That often makes for the best kind of conflict.
  10. I don't have a problem with Kelsier sticking around. We already knew from WoB that he was still interfering with things, so this really isn't a surprise at all. And as you said, it's very in character for Kelsier to survive even his own death.
  11. My assumption is that the reason the IRE are worried about Threnodites is because that's where the majority of the Shades come from. I'm thinking that they may be a concern for anyone travelling in the Cognitive Realm. Apparently, Shades from other planets are so rare they don't even think of the possibility that the intruder the guard saw could be a Shade from anywhere else.
  12. Wax has a twinborn effect, which we hadn't seen as of SoS and I don't think there was anything in Bands that could have been his effect either, so presumably a fullborn would have multiple effects. In my opinion, a Mistborn or a full Keeper would not have effects, since their powers all come from one set. I think it's when you mix different sets that the extra effects come into play. If I'm right, then on Roshar each surge is it's own set, so you still get effects from mixing two surges with your Nahel Bond.
  13. So... Vessel. That's the term we should all be using instead of "Shardholder". Helps clear up some confusion with the term Shardbearer. And I knew there had to be something more to Kelsier picking up Preservation for a bit. Otherwise, any random Cognitive Shadow could simply grab a Shard's power after the Vessel dies. Of course, if he was more Connected to Preservation, he would have been able to just pick up the power... And apparently wouldn't be able to do much with it as a Shadow. Shades from Threnody. Are they something anyone traveling the Cognitive Realm needs to be wary of? What are the plants that grow where there is water in the Physical Realm? Even just a glass of water will sprout one of these plants. And apparently, you can't just will yourself to transport around in the CR. So much cool info in this novella!
  14. And who is the Haunted Man? The name keeps popping up, but I don't remember anything like that from the book.
  15. I know, but why would Hoid give Wax that coppermind if he and Kelsier have such problems?
  16. Yeah, no idea what he means by that.
  17. They reduce their weight, so they are storing, not tapping.
  18. It's not exactly a typo, but in the previous Era 1.5 kindle ebooks the text from the broadsheets was pulled out to a separate section to make them easier to read. Not in Bands, though.
  19. Ok, so I'm just gonna post this before reading any of the posts here in order to get my unaltered reaction. Wow. That book was awesome! So what's going on with Hoid? He used to be Wax's coachman, right? Why didn't Wax recognize him outside that party? And why did Hoid give Wax that weird coppermind coin of Kelsier? Since we know from WOB that Kelsier is still mucking around, is it possible that they're working together? And Connection stores Connection to a place... I guess that means you can't tap a bunch of it to make people like you or something like that.. And it seems that Connection is probably how Hoid and other worldhoppers can speak other languages. Funny that it still brings the accent along. I guess people will be rereading books with that in mind. Actually, Hoid never seems to have an accent as far as I can remember, so maybe he's doing something else. So why is it hard to create a medallion with more than 2 powers? How did they do it in the first place? Hemalurgy? Is that why it's so difficult? Too many spikes? And as the preview chapters hinted at, yes it is possible to crate metalminds with no identity, giving others access to new powers. Cool. I'm glad Wax and Steris fell for each other. It was foreshadowed in SoS nicely. I knew Telsin would be working for the Set! I saw that coming. And wow, Wayne's reaction to Wax's death...! Speaking of which. Wow. And the Set has a weird fondness for mathematical terms. Odd. So what's with that lady at the party? The Ars Arcanum writer or someone working for the writer, I assume. And then there's the informant at the same party. He seems a little too aware of some things that are going on.... And what are those guys with red eyes who apparently want to destroy the planet now that the Scadrians discovered...things? Flight? The Bands? And the ending! Kelsier is the one who helped the Southerners, not TLR! Wow, did not see that one coming! Gives me the chills! But how...? I knew he was still mucking around, but he has his body back and is spiked in one eye? And Feruchemy? From the timeline in the book it sounds like he went down there after Harmony's Ascension...

    Aspens?

Brandon generally only makes new names for things if they don't match what we have on Earth. I expect that none of these are actually exactly the same species of plant or animal that we have, but something similar enough to keep things from seeming too outlandish and foreign. So an aspen on Scadrial could refer to a tree with white bark and similar leaves and flowers to real aspens.
  21. Let's not discuss unpublished works spoilers, please.
  22. This should be in the Mistborn subforum for the Secret History.
  23. Vector: Committing crimes with direction and magnitude!
  24. I believe Jordan had been talking about doing a Mat in Seanchan series, however, Brandon has said that this probably won't happen now.
  25. Shouldn't this be in the Shadows spoiler forum?
