The Leecher/Steelrunner sounds awesome. Someone with these powers could have taken Miles out easily. Leech off his Gold and he's done.

Possible Origin of Shardplate? (Spoilers WoR)
Shardbearer replied to 02ranger's topic in Stormlight Archive
Presumably, all Radiants of old did have Blades. The Stormfather is refusing because he's afraid of getting trapped as a Blade if Dalinar breaks his oaths. -
I don't know if it would take billions of years for a breeding program to work. You could start 2 breeding programs at the same time, one that takes mistings with as little feruchemy DNA as possible, and another with ferrings. Once you successfully get these two lines to create full mistborn/feruchemists, you could then work on combining them together again. If you have enough people in the program, it's not inconceivable to have a full twinborn after several generations. Of course such a program would still take a long time, and would probably be prohibitively expensive.

How could Vasher survive without Breath?
Shardbearer replied to AlluminumMisting's topic in Warbreaker
Yeah, Brandon mentions in the annotations that it is possible to only give a portion of your breaths away. Denth was lying when he told Vivenna it had to be all or nothing. -
It seems he's been writing "Hands all red" in a number of the books he signs. He must be hinting that there's more to that scene than we assume...

Shadows of Self Tour: London Forbidden Planet signing

The ward would have to be a female, to study the Feminine Arts from Jasnah. Not that I think she puts as much stock in gender roles as most people. There are hints that Jasnah does not like Amaram. And that he's uncomfortable near her, like she knows something about him that he doesn't want to get out.... -

Jasnah had ivory before Gavilar's assassination, and I'm assuming she hadn't taken on a ward by that point, so not likely. Probably something to do with Amaram. -
You Know You're a Sanderfan When...
Shardbearer replied to Shardbearer's topic in General Brandon Discussion
When you feel compelled to thank inanimate objects that you bring to life to serve your whims. What? That happened... -
I believe that the answer to both of these questions is that the genes for alomancy and feruchemy interfere with each other, so the interbreeding between metalborn caused it so mistborn could no longer be born, and neither can full feruchemists. There is speculation that full feruchemists may still exist in the Terris enclave, if their bloodlines are pure or almost pure Terris.

I Need Help Fellow Sanderson Fanatics!
Shardbearer replied to Kaladin al'Thor's topic in General Brandon Discussion
I used to participate in a forum for fantasy writers, and one member there posted a thread about how Brandon was the worst writer, ever. A bunch of us jumped on him, of course. You can't say someone is objectively the worst writer so he ended up backing down and saying that he just subjectively didn't like Brandon's works. And I have heard other people who say things like Brandon tells rather than shows too much, or it feels like you're reading through a video game tutorial. I guess it just doesn't work for everyone.- 31 replies

Yeah, Relis ran out screaming as soon as he touched a Blade that was also being touched by one of the proto-Radiants, if I recall. Right? I think that's how it went anyway.

I have 2 autistic kids. People with developmental differences have been stigmatized for a long time. I really appreciate Brandon getting some autistic characters into his books to help fight this stigmatism. It used to be a lot worse than it is now, but we still have a long way to go. That's part of the point of including these characters in his books. Also, Brandon has said in his writing lectures that for magic systems and characters, limits are more interesting than abilities. He also talked about the difference between character flaws and character weaknesses, which also make characters more interesting. As I recall, a flaw is something that the character could work to overcome with time, and a weakness (don't remember if that's the actual word he used) is something that they will have to deal with for life. Autism and Mistborn era 2 minor spoiler are examples of this. Renarin will always be autistic, so he'll have to find ways to cope. This makes him an interesting character with challenges that the other characters wont have to face.
-
Yeah, it's confirmed by WOB that Renarin is autistic. And epilepsy is common among autistic individuals. Before the autism was confirmed, I had a theory similar to yours, although that was before WoR so it didn't involve screaming Blades and such. But those theories are pretty much out the window now with the confirmation of autism. I have 2 autistic children myself, and thankfully neither of them have had seizures as far as I can tell. But I definitely see the similarities with them and Renarin. They were both diagnosed early this year, so that was after I read WoK/WoR the first times, but I've reread them since then.

Yeah, Wolverine definitely needs to be spiked. And gold compounding for his natural born abilities. Except the claws. Unless the spikes are claws... But bone claws, sadly, no.

Wait, you can use Stormlight to fuel alomancy? Colors, I wish I could access Drive from work! Or was that revealed somewhere else? -
Shadows of Self Tour London Day 1 (17-Oct-15)
Shardbearer replied to Havoc's topic in Events and Signings
Wow, so did getting ready to summon Pattern in that scene draw him a little more into the Physical Realm? That's what my guess is. -

So the Scepter lets you understand the meaning of other symbols... How exactly does it do that? I mean, couldn't you do that if you studied them all? Also, does it allow you to achieve the same effect in a different symbology? For instance, could it allow you to use Forging to achieve the same effect as an Aon you are studying with it? -
I don't think the point is that you MUST have read the book to qualify as a surgebinder. Seems to me that Confused is saying that reading the book, and internalizing it's message, can give you a leg up in internalizing the Ideals. Whereas if you're like Sadeas and think it's all hogwash you probably have a lot of changing to do before you can ever internalize any of the Ideals. But if you haven't read it, you can still get the ideals right through other experiences.

The image isn't loading for me. What's the answer?

So I'm thinking that this means that TES takes place much later than Elantris, since this map indicates that they are considered barbarians.

You can also preorder on Amazon and you won't have to worry about waiting until it comes out. It will download to your Kindle app (assuming you register it with your Amazon account) as soon as the book is released.

So she isn't the Terriswoman. It's still possible that she is Vathi, though.

How does basic lashing work? Are you lashing something in a direction, or are you lashing it to a point? -
Now I'm lost, so I'll throw out some random guesses: A sunken ship. Skyeels. That animal Rysn gets after jumping off the greatshell.
