  1. This is an advantage for sure against a number of other worlds, but it might be a detriment against more modern warfare strategies Taldain and Scadrial could apply. One of the reasons the first World War was so bloody is outdated military strategy going up against modern weaponry
  2. My guess is that you need the correct Pure Tone in some way to force a phase transition
  3. Yup, hard to get less ambiguous than that without straight up naming him. Though it makes me wonder where the title of Thaidakar comes from. Scadrian term for Survivor or Sovereign maybe?
  4. I don't think he's faking it so much as exaggerated just how bound he his. Preservation and Ruin are apposed but I feel they shouldn't be as completely inhibiting as Sazed is implying. We already saw with Ruin that a Shard can go against its nature temporarily if that leads to the Intent being fulfilled down the road. I see no reason that Harmony can't Ruin something to Preserve something else and vise versa. However there are clearly issues with Harmony, there is an imbalance between Ruin and Preservation and Sazed does seem to want to side with Preservation more often which I'm sure is a leading cause of his issues.
  5. This only works if the Mistborn has absolutely no coins or other metal on their person
  6. I and seemingly several people here disagree. Just because you don't like it doesn't make it bad writing
  7. That's clearly not the case. It obviously means that certain focus is necessary to pull it off
  8. It's clearly not that simple. Vin was reserving her actions in preparation of Zane's attack and keeping all her attention on his movements. Your scenario is still nothing more than a reaction to the thrusters decision
  9. Because like all Cosmere future sight it isn't perfect, Vin understands how Atium works from experience, her actions were taken by knowing and paying attention to Zane's actions (more convoluted than Atium), AND most importantly she only chose her action at the last possible second. The book even tries to express how difficult and surprising that is. Clearly not something that's easily replicated in a fight. The biggest difference between your thrusting scenario and Vin's is she set up an If/Then circumstance whereas the keep leaning decision is a decision made after the consequence of the first decision to thrust happened so it is a sequential set of actions the Atium could predict
  10. Have you ever thrust a weapon? The thrusting person is more likely to fall over because of the momentum than the leaner if they try to keep leaning. Also Atium would have to keep adjusting the shadows you see based on the reactions to the Seer's actions otherwise Atium would make no sense. So basically unless the shadows split constantly which isn't supported the books, the vision already accounts for the Seer's action. So basically the Seer would see the maximum reach the weapon will go, and as @HSuperLee has said, Atium's biggest advantage seems to be the enhanced mental effect that let's an Allomancer process that information and utilize it.
  11. Silverlight being a whole city I could see them having a lot of influence or very little depending on if they are just focusing on being a gathering of world hoppers or if the leadership has an actual agenda. I guess that depends on how active they might be at stopping other organizations. Their influence would be stopping the meddling of other organizations
  12. Which organization of world hoppers do you think has the most influence in the Cosmere as a whole?
  13. Preservation would be a good fit for my personality but I would prefer Endowment or Invention
  14. At most Kaladin might be 250 lbs, and even that's unlikely considering the relative malnourished he would still be by that scene. He's a soldier, not a power lifter dedicated to building muscle. Additionally Roshar has lower gravity which would lower the weight of things. And as I previously specified, the book clearly states Kaladin pushed himself up, she was only helping
  15. What are you talking about? That is entirely within human limits. She gave Kaladin a good yank to help but Kaladin is explicitly described as forcing himself up. I've personally been pulled up in a similar manner as Kaladin by a woman weighing at most 120 lbs while my weight is in the mid 200s
  16. My personal in world headcanon for this is that he used it and his old Terris items to act as a release of sorts. To reminisce and just feel his age without any expectations and drink up the nostalgia of his old home
  17. Stormlight effectively is like adrenaline. It allows the body to push itself to its limits. The only examples of a Radiant (or Squire) performing truly superhuman acts of strength is when Dalinar lifts a large rock and Rock shooting the Shardbow. Dalinar has Tension which I believe has been implied to increase physical strength and Rock clearly has something special going on with him considering Kalidin's astonished reaction. As for the other Pewter benefits such as increased dexterity, balance, and agility? There are multiple scenes in the books I'd argue show that Stormlight doesn't give those. My personal favorite is Lift tripping at the beginning of RoW. Additionally, sure the lower gravity let Rosharans get taller, but at the same time, that lower gravity would have a detrimental effect on muscle mass and bone density
  18. I'm not so sure the Final Empire region would be too big. It was described as taking months via canals to get from the western most regions to Luthadel. That would make more sense if the Final Empire was continental in scale like your second map presumes
  19. Technically that was with Duralumin. However yes, Mistborn for sure have greater acceleration. A Mistborn suffers negative acceleration as they get further from the metal they are pushing on. This means that they have their top acceleration at the time of the initial Push A Windrunner on the other hand in earth gravity and atmosphere would take nearly 20 seconds to hit top speed assuming a single Lashing
  20. It would be one heck of a boon on Threnody I'm sure
  21. That is technically pure conjecture. Potentially reasonable yes, but also stands to reason that nobles would take care of their carriage horses and keep them healthy for no other reason than appearances
  22. They are actually comparable. Terminal velocity is approximately 176 ft/s. The carriage ride between cities took an hour and a carriage usually averaged out at 20 mi/hr. The spikeway reduced that time to 10 minutes. 20 miles x 5280 ft = 105600 ft. 105600 ÷ 10 = 10560 ft/min. 10560 ÷ 60 = 176 ft/s
  23. I mean it's unlikely for a Mistborn to have an hour of Atium, but not impossible. Kelsier had enough for a "prolonged fight" not sure what he considered that to be and Zane never seemed to feel shy about the amount of Atium he had to use.
  24. In that same WoB he explicitly says he hasn't given them an area of effect unless the power had an area of affect He brings up the Aluminum Gnat as a future hypothetical and it is to get to the point of doing that, not that that is what it does now
  25. I doubt it requires a hack, the only times a Primer Cube acted differently to a metal is the Leaching and when it was hooked up to other machinery in the ships. Lack of other machinery implies it is entirely reasonable for Leaching to be done at range.
