  1. It is cosmere, but it was never released and is currently very vague on canonity. This is currently the only place you can get it from, since it stopped being distributed through the newsletter.
  2. Welcome to the Shard! Got any plans to read Aether of Night?
  3. I thought we weren't doing that anymore due to the similarities with Fatebreaker's Era 5 stuff. Very possible I was mistaken, though. The long and short of that plan was that the universe is ripping and various shenanigans are happening with spatial and gravitational distortion as a result of stress on the Worldspike and its anchoring effect. How the characters react will be pretty free, no permanent-roadblock giant armies threatening or anything because this is less of someone trying to do something and more a natural effect of the strain on a Hemalurgic spike. It would be very loose, mostly on a unique effect per character basis that everyone is free to RP their own way, but with some larger stuff in a collated thread. I might have forgotten something, that's always possible, so if anyone that was in the PM sees something I forgot just add it on or let me know!
  4. Y'know what? That's fair, he's pretty cool.
  5. Welcome to the Shard! You've stumbled into a rabbit hole and a half with that connection. That's the cosmere, my friend. Yes, it is the same sword and the same Wit. It's a lot larger than those two worlds, though. There's another Warbreaker/Stormlight connection as well, in Words of Radiance, but that one is subtle. 90% of what happens here on the Shard is related to the cosmere, from theories to questions to outright discussions and hypothetical situations. I'd highly recommend that before diving into the sub-forums you make sure you've read everything in each series or you'll likely get spoiled on some a lot of stuff. Here's a full list of cosmere material, for the record: I hope you enjoy your journey through the cosmere and the Shard!
  6. The origin of the lighteyes thing is Shardblades/Radiants. Those who were lighteyed at the time of having children were able to pass along the sDNA of the unnaturally glowing eyes. Not a singer-based origin. The traces wouldn't help as much. It's also doubtful that breeding with singers allowed them to bond spren in the first place, since those that remained on Ashyn also have a bond-based magic system. Not a spren bond, sure, but still a bond allowing access to powers. Also given that Hoid was able to attract a spren to bond without hacking the magic system likely means anyone could bond a spren if both parties are agreeable. If you were to argue that that could just be Hoid being Hoid and being able to do all the strange things he can do, then he'd probably be able to access Sel's magic and/or Taldain's magic without the necessary hacks as well, which is a whole leap and a half. Also worth noting is that Shinovar is very separate from the Roshar, yet Szeth could still bond a spren. If there was anywhere that would be loosely enough connected to singer ancestry, it would be there.
  7. This is presuming the combined races of Horneaters and Herdazians came about naturally, as opposed to Cultivation/the Nightwatcher messing with people. But given that Kaladin doesn't have anything professing any sort of shared blood (none of the hair color or fingernail thing) it seems unlikely to me.
  8. Hey, welcome to the Shard! Which book's flashback character are you most excited for? (Book 4 being Eshonai/Venli, book 5 being Szeth, book 6 being Lift, book 7 being Renarin, book 8 being Taln, book 9 being Ash, and book 10 being Jasnah)
  9. I'm here for the Plate. I crave the physical enhancement.
  10. Gotta go Renarin! He's my boy.
  11. I'm down for this theory.
  12. Yeah something came up that took my attention away from that. I have nothing happening this week coming up that needs that much attention, so, with full apologies for the delay, I'll be able to finish my reading-up this weekend and be back to helping starting Monday!
  13. This is amazing art. I like the detail on the facial wrinkles and the scars, especially the scar running all the way down his face. Very well done, and incredibly realistic.
  14. This is going to be terrible on the grammar side of things, but that's not important for this piece. Long story short, I'm trying to work on my horror writing and the requisite immersion and would appreciate a rating/feedback/some tips/something on how much/how/why this short bit immerses you or how/why it doesn't. Thanks!
  15. Could try the Traveler's Gate trilogy. Or the Cradle series. Both by Will Wight, and the Cradle series is currently 6 books long, with a seventh releasing this year (before Halloween, reputedly). They're not the most similar to Sandman's writing, but they're pretty cool and worth the read.
  16. My money is still on Voidus and the Stranger in the long-run.
  17. I like this idea! Letting everyone wrap up their conversations in the old one before moving to the next one and then eventually squishing them all together seems like the best part of both arguments.
  18. I know it's a bit of a pain, but can someone remove Malu's entry for me please? He'll be back, but there will be some...changes...and the easiest thing to do would be to replace everything that's already there.
  19. Aw, there goes my shot for an Elder Scrolls reference.
  20. Would it look like this?
  21. He has a jar of this stuff that he carries around. We saw it in OB.
  22. Era 2 is amazing and I highly recommend you read it. The last book in Era 2 will be coming out in the next few years, too, so it's a good time. I also highly recommend the rest of the cosmere (Warbreaker, Elantris, Arcanum Unbounded, etc.). Full cosmere marathons are fun. Anyway, welcome to the Shard! Hope you enjoy your time here!
