Alright, apologies for the delay, mods, but here's Malu^2 and the Amnesiac! Amnesiac: Oh wait I forgot about Okame. He needs to be transferred as well. No changes, there, though, not like with Malu^2.

the lord ruler Is the tech to create a real life ruler possible?
Invocation replied to Kelsier Mistblessed's topic in Mistborn
Yes you make your eyes visible but that presents the same issues the shimmercloaks do: they're visible! A floating pair of eyes and optic nerves are something people would notice! Why do you think they all had to keep their heads down? -
Welcome to the Shard! Did you read Edgedancer too?

Oh that's a can of worms and a half. I've had people tell me I'm immortal, tell me I'm the Antichrist, tell me I'm secretly a time traveller (even from myself, apparently), tell me I'll be dead before the year is out, tell me I'll live into my two hundreds, tell me I'll visit space, tell me the depths of the ocean are where I'm supposed to be, tell me that everything I'll do will stand in stone for a thousand years, tell me that everything I'll do will turn to dust before my very eyes, tell me I'm their long-lost husband of 30 years with amnesia, tell me I'm literally dead, tell me I'm the Second Coming of Christ (long story on that one), and tell me that my soul has seen guilt over the ages and it ages me prematurely. Long story short, shenanigans.

You wouldn't be able to see, then. Little bit of an issue there. -
That is...a lot of things crammed into a small word search. Guess I know what I'm doing tomorrow afternoon.

Hello! Welcome to the Shard! We have an exclusive book you can get here, if you want to read it. It's called Aether of Night and is cosmere, though not released (and as such, unpolished. Still good though!). If you want to request access to the copy, there's a Manuscript Request thread at the bottom of the Cosmere section of the main page. Now that the Aether plug is over, I have two questions. 1, who's your favorite character? and 2, do you plan to/have you already listened to the reading from Stormlight 4 yet?

Yeah I'm as confused as Quantus. I remember her letting one of the sailor Honorspren touch her blade and let it "feel" them, but I don't remember the teaching part.

Honestly yeah I always love the style of intricate clockworks interacting with stuff.

I'd be down for a Vanilla-only character slot. I'm guilty of wanting to play one but not wanting to waste a slot when there's a chance I could think up some really cool power combination to explore shortly afterwards.

Oh you're one of those people. Okay I'm gonna stop myself from going entirely off the rails in a not-exactly-Shard-appropriate fashion here and set this conversation aside permanently, before I say something that I may get banned for. It's taken me this long to even approach a reasonable response. Neither of us were ever gonna really convince the other anyway.

It nests and they amplify.

So you would trade future quality for a little bit extra now, then? You would willingly advocate for the stifling of creativity and film quality as the last of what Disney doesn't own bows to their monopoly? You have no faith in Sony to deliver, and yes, I understand that, but the situation now is much different than it ever has been before. There is a two-movie precedent, and now that Sony has an incentive beyond keeping the rights to make the next movie good: proving everyone wrong. Proving to people that they can make a good Spiderman movie again. Why would it possibly bother you? A portion of negotiations being closed means nothing if the larger negotiations are still ongoing. Marvel might have a better track record, but Marvel also hasn't attempted as many Spiderman movies as Sony has, though they did try one in 1977 that even Stan Lee didn't like. Plus, if we were to be going by terrible movies meaning someone else should have a chance, then Marvel would never have been allowed to make another Captain America movie after the 1990 fiasco (not going to talk about the 1944 one because I haven't actually watched that one fully), or another Hulk movie (then again, maybe they learned their lesson with that one). If you're so scared of anything that could potentially lead to something bad, why do you get out of bed? Why do you do anything? After all, it can all go bad.

Yes, Far From Home was very profitable, but profit isn't everything. Sometimes you just have to tell the greedy other corporation to back off, especially when they're talking about pretty much the only thing keeping them afloat for movies anyway while the other group has very nearly cornered the market. They close that line of negotiations. They showed what they needed to, but negotiations are still happening, at least as far as I can find any news about (granted, though, most of what I can find that's concrete is dated to August 20th). Yes, I do, and while people give the Garfield movies a lot of crap (me included sometimes), they weren't as bad as all that. Would I describe it as a masterpiece of a Spiderman movie? No. Are all the ways it's lacking emphasized by the quality of the other two sets of Spiderman movies? Yes.

Currently the split is something like 90-10 in Sony's favor, since Sony has advertising rights but Disney has merch. Disney wanted a 50-50 split pretty much in order for Kevin Feige and his team to work on Spiderman movies again. Sony didn't want to put up with that. When you get told my a company that can buy you that they want a 50-50 split and won't take anything else, you're well within your rights to walk away. Disney was being greedy, so Sony told them to go shove it, which is nothing less than what they deserve. And, for the record, walking away is sometimes needed in order to reinforce that you're not a pushover at the negotiation table.

For my Era 4 characters, it'll be my amnesiac dude (he never really got added to the list, though he was approved, and I'll put his sheet up here in a little bit, along with the refreshed Malu^2), Malu^2, and Okame.

It's not Sony's fault, don't do that. Disney is the one asking for more like they aren't pretty much a monopoly in the industry already and all Sony did was say no to that.

If he left Nalthis, probably the same place he always goes when not there - Roshar.
-
That's fair. That one was pretty good.

Which time?
-
Gradually. Lashings wear off after a time and presumably, unless you keep it constantly fueled, so would the slickness.
-
A lot, probably.
