  2. Fallen Leaf squirmed at Hyron's grip, attempting to escape. "I don't live by myself! I live in the village." Anikel frowned. "What?"
  3. "Not here here. Over there." Fallen Leaf gesticulated behind himself.
  4. "Fallen Leaf!" exclaimed the child proudly, standing up to his full four foot six of height. "Who are you? You crash landed here, didn't you? I saw your boat!"
  5. The owner of the voice shuffled out of the brush somewhat sheepishly. He was perhaps eight years old, with light brown hair and blue eyes.
  6. There was a loud yelp, high in pitch, and a thud as whoever it was fell backwards onto the ground. "Careful," said a voice reproachfully. A child's voice. "You almost cut off my nose!"
  7. There was a soft sound that may have been a giggle. Yerik sat up, shivering. Was that movement? In the dim light and thick foliage, it was hard to tell. He shivered again, not entirely because of the cold. Behind Miyako, a branch cracked.
  8. The trio made their way through the swamp, stepping carefully around patches of boggy ground and swatting at flies. They walked in silence. Something about the atmosphere - the thick canopy overhead, the treacherous ground beneath, the inscrutable foliage all around - combined, it somewhat discouraged conversation. The silence was abruptly broken by a yelp from Yerik, followed by a splash as he fell into the water.
  9. Yerik turned to Miyako expectantly, waiting for direction. @Mr. Misting In the jungle, a pair of eyes watched the trio curiously.
  10. "That's your reason to take him with us?" asked Anikel incredulously.
  11. Yerik blinked. "Oh! Uh, alright. I have everything."
  12. "Your crew? You mean- ah." The corners of Geff's mouth turned up in a smirk. "I see. Well, when you come to your senses, we'll still have a spot open." With that, he turned and walked away, shouting at one of the crewmembers who was teetering on the edge of the boat with a casket of water in his hands. "Thanks," said Yerik quietly from behind Miyako, shuffling his feet awkwardly in the sand.
  13. Geff paused, turning to look directly at Miyako with one eyebrow raised. "You mean to tell me you plan to build your own boat and sail away?"
  14. Yerik nodded, biting his lip. "Yeah. The faster the better. Maybe if we're fast enough, we can escape." In the meantime, Geff had begun issuing instructions to the crew to gather logs and other supplies from the forest. He turned and spotted Miyako and Yerik. "Hey," he growled. "Get working. Go gather wood or something. We'll need every hand we can get if we want to get off this stars-forsaken island." "We were just about to-" Yerik explained, but the captain had already stalked off. Yerik sighed, examining the wreckage of the ship and wondering how long it would take to fix.
  15. "This one is real," Yerik replied seriously. "My grandparents lived through it."
  16. "Well nobody knows why," Yerik snapped. "That's part of the curse. Nobody remembers what happened before."
  17. "Ow!" yelped Yerik, looking at Hyron quite peeved- but every so slightly calmed down. "This is the Nameless Isle. It's cursed."
  18. "We're gonna die," said Yerik, beginning to hyperventilate.
  19. "We shouldn't be here," said Yerik. He leaned against the side of the boat, feeling dizzy. "We can't be here."
  20. Anikel frowned. "What?" Geff gazed at his boat with dismay. Admist the ship captain's effusive groans, Yerik clambered out of the boat. He reached for his amulet, hesitantly raising his shield. To his relief, it popped up as easily as if nothing had happened. Whatever had cancelled out his abilities seemed to have been only momentary. With that resolved, he turned to examine the location they had shipwrecked upon. What he saw stopped him cold. Floating islands. Giant chains. Swampy shores. HIs concentration broke, and rain spilled over his rapidly paling face. "No," he whispered, his gut twisting. "Oh, no, no, no..."
