"I can use my powers offensively!" replied Yerik defensively. "And I can forge weapons, too."

"I can walk on walls," replied Yerik. "And, uh, apparently ignore ship rolling."

Yerik blinked again, thinking. "Uh... a couple months? Yeah. Two months. Why do you ask?" @CalanoCorvus

Onyx hid in the shadows and watched. The expedition was gathering itself together at the city gate, a crowd of people whispering quietly between themselves. There was no need to whisper- talking wasn't against any of the Rules- but they did anyways. Onyx supposed he would have done the same, in their place. There was... something about the forest. Something that inspired hushed voices and careful footsteps. Onyx had only been outside settlement walls twice in his life, each time when he was moving from clearing to clearing. He remembered each time vividly. Darkness. Eyes, drifting slowly, watching. They watched, and they waited; waiting for someone to make a mistake, to break one of the Simple Rules. Then they attacked, eyes scarlet, mouths opened in a silent scream, reaching forth to drain the life out of the sinful living. He'd watched such an attack, once, on his last trip through the woods. Someone's torch had gone out, and they had - in a panic - lit a match. Onyx had watched from the bushes as the shades descended, withering the man and any unlucky enough to stand beside him. Everyone he'd ever known had perished in that attack. His mother, his father, his brother, his aunts and uncles... they had traveled together, and they had died together. Except for him. He wondered sometimes if their shades still roamed the forest. He'd been too afraid to go back into the forest once he'd arrived here, too afraid to confront the demons that had taken his life and left him alone. His feet almost seemed to move on their own, slipping through shadows to join the expedition's crowd. Nobody noticed him.

Yerik exhaled. That had been... not good. He'd instinctively raised a full shield, instead of a partial one like he envisioned. He set his stance, determined to try again. What if he tried a half shield? @Mr. Misting "Training," Yerik replied succinctly.

Yerik yelped, the end of his yelp very noticeably cut off as the water splashed against the shield and was stopped.

Yerik stood up and shook the water off as best he could, blushing. "Yeah... yeah, I'm fine."

Yerik felt the power of the stone around his neck course through him. Earth. Darkness. It was in the nature of both to stand still. He drew upon that power, that nature, and commanded the water to stop in its tracks. It slowed down slightly as it crashed directly into him.

Terakor reached in, laying flat down on the ground so he could grasp the red rock in his fingers. He pulled it out and stood up, holding it in his palm. It was about the size of his hand- no larger.

"Fighting! I need to practice my shielding. At the moment all I can do is a full body shield-" His voice cut off abruptly, though his mouth continued to move. Eventually, he took the shield down, and his voice resumed. "Oh, right. Yeah, the sound thing. That's another downside, I suppose, besides the whole power thing. Anyways." He coughed. "I want to practice smaller shields!"

"Back of the ship," replied Yerik. "There are a bunch of empty rooms- feel free to claim one of them. But- wait!" he called after Miyako. "Do you think you could help me with something?"

Yerik was concentrating on a rock in front of him, keeping it floating in midair. It wavered then dropped to the floor as Miyako approached. Yerik sighed, then brightened slightly when he saw Miyako. "How are you enjoying the ride so far?" he asked. @Mr. Misting Anikel made a jerking motion for Terakor to check the newly dug hole, keeping his eyes fixated on the growling Wanderer. Terakor swallowed and stepped up, glancing down into the hole. Deep within, a flash of red. He sucked in a breath. @Channelknight Fadran

The cabins were near the back of the ship, each with a hammock and a small box. The mess hall was near the front. A bell hung on the door to the kitchen with a sign reading "No Trespressing." There were a few crew members doing various tasks, but none seemed interested in chatting.

Yerik leaned over the deck, looking forwards at the open ocean ahead. Towards Orteo. Home, though it still felt a little strange to think of it that way. He shot a glance back towards the shrinking island behind him. He'd fulfilled his duties. At least, he'd fulfilled them to the best of his abilities. Right? The prospective recruits were looking around, seeming uncertain of what to do. One of them, the Hwindi, looked a little ill. Yerik turned and walked towards them. As he approached, the rocking of the boat seemed to cease. "Welcome aboard!" declared Geff. "First time away from shore, either of you?" @CalanoCorvus @Mr. Misting Anikel jumped, watching Annimus warily as the churning of the corkscrew began to slow.

"Well, it took us about six weeks to get here, so I'm assuming it'll take about six weeks to get back! Assuming we don't run into any storms, of course."
