The Coppermind is also a great reference for questions like this: https://coppermind.net/wiki/Aluminum

Two things: Can you expand a little on what Ascending to a Divine Object means? I don't think I've come across that term before, but it sounds interesting. I totally agree that bonding Nightblood can should grant powers, but I think it would be pretty strange for Nightblood to grant the exact same powers as a highspren. I think the simplest explanation is that he has a bond with a highspren that grants him normal Skybreaker powers, and is hiding because, well, Nightblood. Nightblood himself isn't really hiding - his physical self is always present and he talks to Szeth constantly.

game Cosmere Codenames
Scion of the Mists replied to Herowannabe's topic in Forum Games & Random Stuff
Mercystar is a red agent! However, Edgli is the Assassin in White This means that we're in sudden death mode: you guys have unlimited guesses to guess the remaining 5 red agents or the blue team wins. The Cynder guess was not counted. -
The Coppermind is great for questions like this. Here's the page on Shardpools (beware of spoilers, though).

Hi @Thomas88 - welcome to the Shard! I never finished Wheel of Time, but I would highly recommend you also check out some of his other works. I recently read Rithmatist and loved it. P.s. This is the Introduce Yourself section of the forum. There's a specific Wheel of Time subforum here where you'll probably get a lot more discussion.

Lets talk about Team Nalthis

I think she mentions that she's hunting a criminal, or something like that. Plus there's this WoB: -
Shalash Will Become a Dustbringer
Scion of the Mists replied to Goatbringer's topic in Stormlight Archive
Yeah, it's a pretty popular theory. Good job coming up with it independently. A quick search can usually help find things like this: https://www.17thshard.com/forum/search/?&q=dustbringer ash&sortby=relevancy -
Lets talk about Team Nalthis
Scion of the Mists replied to Toaster Retribution's topic in Stormlight Archive
I'm pretty sure that Vasher and Vivenna came separately. Vasher's been on Roshar for a couple decades, while Vivenna's still fairly new. As for how she got to Roshar, she came through the Cognitive Realm. She mentions something along the lines of "I hate this place" when they're Transported to Shadesmar. There's actually Cognitive Realm caravans between Nalthis and Roshar. -
Is Scadrian metal required for hemalurgy?
Scion of the Mists replied to Zallek Windblade's question in Cosmere Q&A
Metal is not a "manifestation of Investiture" on Scadrial. It's just metal - exactly the same as metal on any other planet. I don't think anybody's asked Brandon specifically about non-Scadrian metal and Hemalurgy, but he's answered a number of times that non-Scadrian metal would work just as well for Allomancy, and I see no reason why Hemalurgy would be any different. -
Why do you think that storing Identity would cause a Soulcaster to affect you instead of your target? What is the opposite of turning you into whatever you're trying to Soulcast? Turn the target object into yourself? What does this mean? Are you asking how Nahel bonds and metalminds work in Australia? P.s. Welcome to the Shard!

Elantris is a literal compass
Scion of the Mists replied to Ripheus23's topic in Elantris and Emperor's Soul
Yes, the Aonic people found Elantris abandoned when they migrated to Arelon (per Coppermind). However, somebody had to have built it. They also had to be "Elantrian" because otherwise they wouldn't have know how to make the Aons. I think a lot of the seeming contradiction in WoBs is that there's a difference between current Elantrians (who are Aonic) and the original Elantrians (that we know virtually nothing about). -
Could a kandra bond a spren?
Scion of the Mists replied to John Flamesinger's question in Cosmere Q&A
I bet that Endowment could make a kandra Return if she wanted to. A Shard is capable of almost anything. However, it would likely not be the standard practice of Returning, as the Ruinous Investiture from the Hemalurgical spikes would likely interfere with the divine Breath. It would also complicate it if the body had been destroyed. -
Dalinar may have recognized Taln as the man who claimed to be a Herald. And then just assumed that the woman next to him would be from a new order (it's commonly thought that Ash, in her present "destroy art" state, will become a Dustbringer). As for Szeth, Dalinar may have seen his Gravitation abilities during the battle (can't remember), but definitely not Division. Venli is definitely a Willshaper.

The obvious cliche that i hope wont happen
Scion of the Mists replied to TousenShadowForged's topic in Stormlight Archive
That's basically already happened (with Elhokar). I doubt Brandon would repeat something like that. -

Koloss Head Munching Day 2018
Scion of the Mists replied to Ashertliden's topic in General Brandon Discussion
"Works of quality for what they really want" - that's super subjective. Plenty of people are thrilled about a Sanderson MtG story. Just because it's not what you want doesn't mean that everyone else feels the same way. This is just like when people are pissed that he writes non-Cosmere books. Plenty of people hated the idea of Skyward just because it wasn't Cosmere. It turned out pretty well (one of his best books, in my opinion). Besides, 4-5 years in between fantasy novels isn't even that far outside the norm for the genre (looking at you Kingkiller and Game of Thrones, both of which are at 7 years and counting). That's not even taking into account the fact that he's concurrently writing another, larger fantasy series of 1200+ page books. (Also, plenty of people like Oathbringer) TL;DR Brandon is allowed to write what he wants, even if it's not what you want him to write. Screaming at your phone and calling it a "betrayal" is a bit much. -
Koloss Head Munching Day 2018
Scion of the Mists replied to Ashertliden's topic in General Brandon Discussion
I don't know that having WotC donate his share of the proceeds to charity counts as "free labor"... -
Good point about the mechanics of resisting the Beyond, but the WoB you quoted before explicitly says that she "left for the Beyond." Not trying to rain on your parade, keep holding out for Eshonai if you want, but she's gone. She went to the Beyond, and we know that there's no way of getting them back. Plus, Brandon's being really careful with resurrections post-WoR (with both Jasnah and Szeth returning). He's said, just a year ago, regarding resurrections, that

Could Shallan be a mistling?
Scion of the Mists replied to SlowAnimation's topic in Cosmere Discussion
He refuses to say whether or not he consumed the whole bead (making him a full Mistborn) or if he alloyed part of it with Brass/Zinc to become a Misting. He's consistently said things like "if he were to have used it," refers to Hoid being an Allomancer (not a Mistborn), etc. Personally, I think he probably is a Mistborn (why would you not choose that option) and that this is another "Man Called Taln" all over again. -
Could a kandra bond a spren?
Scion of the Mists replied to John Flamesinger's question in Cosmere Q&A
That's exactly correct! -
He'd destroy Vasher, then keep asking where he was (just like Shashara).

Could Shallan be a mistling?
Scion of the Mists replied to SlowAnimation's topic in Cosmere Discussion
@SlowAnimation you have things almost exactly right, except replace Misting with Radiant. We know that Shallan became a Surgebinder during her childhood and then regressed prior to the books starting. Hoid detected her Lightweaving abilities. Her mom/her mom's Skybreaker friend tried to kill her because she was a budding Surgebinder, which was the Skybreaker's whole goal. Plus, we know that Brandon is striving for his current series to be fairly self-contained (i.e. independent of the rest of the Cosmere). There's already 10 different Radiant orders, various kinds of fabrials, the Old Magic, plus whatever Voidbinding is. Shallan randomly pulling a brand new type of magic out of her hat would be super confusing to the majority of readers. Hoid has not been confirmed to be a Mistborn, just a Misting. P.s. @Ookla the Silent double posting is against the Forum Rules. If you want to add a thought to your previous post, you can just hit the "edit" button. -
Where's WalDo: The Kandra Worldhopper
Scion of the Mists replied to Kobold King's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Iyatil (with an "i") has Southern Scadrian heritage, but is actually from Silverlight. You can check out more about her on the Coppermind: https://coppermind.net/wiki/Iyatil.
