  1. Great suggestion. I'll edit the request.
  2. It makes it difficult to identify players and tag them. Also, what happens if the game goes long and people change their name back mid-game? We'll handle it, but it's kind of a confusing month (it's like the 17th Shard version of Halloween or a masquerade ball - you don't know who you're talking to). Are you in for this round?
  3. Per the WoB that was posted right above you, there's "a chance" that it could destroy him.
  4. Welcome! Unpublished Works: Aether of Night - Post in this thread in the Aether board and you'll be sent the document White Sand - Sign up for Brandon's newsletter and they'll send you a link. They might be having some issues with this at the moment. Dragonsteel - The full version is only available at the BYU library. Some sample chapters (the Bridge Four sequence) are available on Brandon's website. Liar of Partinel - There's a chapter available somewhere on Brandon's website Mistborn Check out the Metallic Arts on the Coppermind (the Cosmere version of Wikipedia) For advanced topics, check out the Arcanum (a repository of all of Brandon's words). For example, here's everything he's said about Allomancy.
  5. I can make a new (word-based) grid this week. I like the category idea - I think we should start with characters (unless anyone objects), as that seems simplest. The Season of Ookla is going to make this a little tricky. In the interest of keeping the main thread relatively clean, how about everyone who's interested in playing send me a PM (and include your "real" name)?
  6. All the Selish magics are limited by range: AonDor, Dakhor, Forgery, etc. There's a drop off in power as you get further from the origin (seen by AonDor) and then a cutoff point where the magic won't work anymore (e.g. Forgery doesn't work in Elantris). I don't think that AonDor is more limited or has a steeper dropoff than the other magics by itself. However, the addition of Elantris makes for a very steep drop off as the amplification is even more localized than the base magic itself.
  7. If you can't wait and you're okay with spoilers, check out the Coppermind (specifically this page) and join us down the rabbit hole. Welcome to the Shard!
  8. Generally reputation is given when you make meaningful posts. Copy and pasting information from a different website's wiki page on a 4 year old thread is not likely to meet that bar. Additionally, double posting is not allowed per the forum rules (which also address thread necroing).
  9. Feel free to write that fanfic yourselves (there's even a board dedicated to Fan Fiction. However, Brandon has spent a lot of time and effort creating an internally consistent universe that operates according to certain fixed principles, only breaks with real world science when absolutely necessary, and avoids a lot of tropes of the genre. (And that's why a lot of people love his works) There's no way in the Cosmere for a splinter to become a human.
  10. Even if the Seons/Skaze aren't bound to the land in a regional sense, they'd still run into the same difficulties getting offworld that a spren would. (There are, of course, ways to get around those difficulties, but it would take some doing) I think that Seons being the key to offworld Selish magic is a really cool idea. In the books we haven't seen the Seons directly interfacing with Elantrian magic; however, there was originally a mechanic where the Seons could sacrifice themselves to perform a one-shot effect based on their Aon.
  11. How should we handle typos in WoBs? Obviously if there's a transcription error, that's one thing. However, what should we do if there's a text source (i.e. Reddit) where something is misspelled? Should we correct it or leave it as is? For instance, Brandon frequently misspells canon on Reddit.
  12. I think this is spam, not a necro...
  13. It's an interesting idea, but I think it's a lot simpler and intuitive for Elantris to actually amplify, rather than magnify, the Aons. We can see from the Chapter 62 annotations that the power of the Aons in Teod is unchanged.
  14. Venli is the Willshaper, not Eshonai. Ash as the Dustbringer is the general consensus around here, but Brandon has consistently RAFOd it. I think she'll actually bond an ashspren - I don't think that just having an Honorblade would "count."
  15. I've seen that WoB and it's always bothered me. Have we seen any other examples of young characters being extra super good at something because they'll be extra super good at that thing in the future? Or is Kaladin the only one?
  16. Which suggests that the eyes are separate from the krell / alien civilizations and they don't know about them (m-bot seems unaware too). That's just Spensa trying to make sense of this completely new thing - she's far from an expert in cytonics. It would be very strange for multiple alien races, who have been using cyto for centuries, to be unaware of something like that. I think it's much more likely that the ancient humans stopped using the cyto communication because of the alien ability to intercept it. Edit - looks like I was wrong:
  17. I don't think there's anything canon about them as nothing has been published yet, but there's descriptions of them in some of the Bridge Four chapters from Dragonsteel Prime that Brandon's posted on his website. It even mentions something about their eyes.
  18. The link says it's Kelsier, but I don't really see it.
  19. No worries - it happens. We got so close there at the end. @I am a STICK!!!!!!!!!!!!!! or @Snipexe - don't forget to post the keycard to the Google Doc.
  20. Ah, I see - a sentient Sel determining that Elantrians were possible a danger to it and taking action to remove their power. I like it.
  21. What picture of Kaladin and Syl? The only non-revealed pictures left were: spheres, Queen Fen, Sarene, Hemalurgy chart, the Thrill, Nightblood, and Tanavast.
  22. This is a very interesting theory, but what does it have to do with Ashyn? We actually know a lot about the humans who left Ashyn - Brandon's written about 4000 pages about them...
  23. The topic was started in June, long before the novel was released.
  24. Color is not part of the electromagnetic spectrum. It's pretty clear from the book that the "color" that Awakening drains is a property of the material used as fuel, not the light itself. If you could just use visible light as fuel, then you could use the same object over and over again and never run out of fuel. You probably wouldn't have to even have an object to use as fuel, as light is all around us (unless it's dark, see below link). It's also stated that Black is the most effective color for Awakening, but there's no such thing as black light.
  25. Why does that sound familiar? Are you secretly the Shard of Hatred?
