  1. Unity is not another Shard. There are only three Shards in the Rosharan system: Honor, Cultivation, Odium. If Dalinar did (partially or temporarily) Ascend, it would be as the Vessel of Honor. However, Unity could refer to the Shard of Honor under Dalinar's stewardship (the overall Shardic Intent can't change, but the Vessel's interpretation can). As for Bondsmiths of Splintered Shards, there's only one Splintered Shard on Roshar (Honor), but if anyone is going to reform a Splintered Shard, it would be a Bondsmith.
  2. As the oaths and the ideals associated to them can be very open ended and open to interpretation, theoretically you could make an argument for any individual to be a good version for any order. Couple that with the fact that we do know multiple spren from multiple orders do "court" the same individual (Ym with the Truthwatchers and Edgedancers for instance), and I do not think we can conclusively say anyone "cannot" be a member of any order. Brandon in the WoB you quote even says that they might have trouble with that. That does not preclude other situations arising that would result in Adolin being favorable, or a particular skybreaker spren thinking to bond him in contrary to the other spren (as seen with Szeth). I never said that Adolin "cannot" join the Skybreakers, not sure where you're getting that. I was just curious what the main argument for Adolin as a Skybreaker was, as it wasn't something I'd come across before and seemed counterintuitive. I was also trying to not derail the thread...oh well. The terminology of "broken" is a little misleading. Any strong emotion can cause "cracks" in your Spiritweb (which allow foreign Investiture to enter). There are more means of becoming "broken" than they have discovered in-world.
  3. A couple things. First, Ishar is definitely mad, even if Nale doesn't think so. Second, Dalinar was able to operate the Oathgate by forming the Stormfather into a quasi-Shardblade, something that the Stormfather didn't want him to do. This was not related to his Realm-piercing ability. Brandon has said recently that it is a Bondsmith power that other Bondsmiths had used in the past. However, he later mentioned that he may have unintentionally been misleading about that answer.
  4. Without derailing this thread, can you briefly explain the Adolin as Skybreaker thing? I hadn't heard of that before (although I tend to avoid arguments about character-related stuff). There's even a WoB about the Skybreaker's opinion of Adolin's extra-judicial actions. In any event, although I don't think we'll see new mixing of Surges, I think that Progression-Division would be the most interesting and thematic: Life and Death.
  5. As @SwordNimiForPresident said, a Seer would be able to see an atium shadow regardless of how fast the Steelrunner is. Atium shows what's going to happen a set amount of time in the future. I do agree with the consensus that the Steelrunner reacting to the Seer's actions would allow them to nullify the benefits of atium.
  6. @Thanatos Maybe don't post while drunk?
  7. If you split a bunch of molecules into charged ions, wouldn't there be the same amount of positive and negative ions, which would cancel each other out?
  8. Here's what Brandon has said about Lightweavers and lasers/high-frequency EM:
  9. Making an air bubble seems to match up pretty well with Adhesion, actually. What is a high pressure bubble if not a bunch of air molecules stuck together. I'm not sure how you get lightning manipulation from Gravitation/Division, though.
  10. Yeah, he's going really fast. It hit 40% last week:
  11. Brandon has frequently RAFO'd questions about Hoid and Hemalurgy (see here, here, and here). However, he said in 2015 that Hoid "doesn't have Hemalurgy right now" and that Hoid "would not want to open himself to the influence of Shards." As for his powers, most of them are unexplained (i.e. his immortality, time-dilation, and Fortune abilities). Others predate the Shattering (his Yolish Lightweaving). Of the modern magic systems, it appears that he's gained them through more mundane routes (Lerasium, Breath, spren bond).
  12. That's what happens when you don't read posts carefully, I guess. I like your idea, although I prefer the theory that it's related to one of his abilities (immortality, Fortune, magic systems, etc.).
  13. Hoid was not part of the Shardic agreement. From the Traveler:
  14. Actually, it does. From the prologue:
  15. I agree about Dakhor, but why Aarik? Aaron is from White Sand. I think that Dashe is much more likely there’s also Soulstone, but that’s not found in Elantris.
  16. I was definitely remembering it wrong, thanks. Do you think that the other place referred to is Roshar (the planet)? Or do you think that Khriss is referring to systems?
  17. @luckat when did Mraize use a Parshendi weapon? I agree that whatever it was, it's likely been guessed already. I suggest we pass turn and let the Blue Team go (maybe some of the non-Rosharans can get in on the action).
  18. This is a recurring theme on Shardcast (which you should definitely check out if you haven't - it's pretty awesome). The Stormstriders (a fan term) are known about in-world:
  19. Currently unknown, but people have a lot of different theories. Check out some of the other threads or Arcanum.
  20. I don't think I've ever heard the Divine Attribute-Ideal theory before. I agree with you, though, that the connection seems pretty tenuous. I feel like the Divine attributes are so vague that they could apply to many different Ideals (similar to how the results from personality "tests" are so general that most people would identify with them).
  21. I think that it's explained as being easier to do and that it makes you less susceptible to reactive forces (like when your coin hits a wall). This is how pulse-width modulation works in the real world.
  22. Yes, both of those are Hoid appearances. There's a full list of them at his Coppermind page (although major spoilers for Mistborn: Secret History). He also was the Terris refuge leader in Well of Ascension. In Era 2, he was present at the wedding in Alloy of Law and as a carriage driver in Shadows of Self.
  23. As @Dr. Dapper pointed out, you left off the one planet we know for sure: Scadrial. (Well we also know that Rosharan humans emigrated from Ashyn). I'd be interested in your rationale for these. My understanding from Arcanum Unbounded was that, while Scadrial was not the only place with created humans, it was pretty uncommon. P.s. "Shadeworld" is Threnody.
  24. Yeah, Dustbringer and Nale are pretty obvious. Good clue @Turtle373 (assuming we interpreted it correctly). @luckat Any idea what the missing Parshendi agent might be?
  25. Snape kills Trinity with Rosebud
