  1. alright now devo votes me and aman votes TUN and the circle will be complete
  2. i've never felt dumber than just now when I decided I should probably relearn proper typing technique. My wpm generally hovers around 80 when I type the way I'm used to (thumbs  for space, first 2 fingers of each hand for letters, pinkies for shift on the left and delete on the right. never use ring fingers ever.(side note: I just realized that I type the same way I play bass. ring finger almost never does nothing in bass, you only use your first, second, and 4th fingers. i wonder if me playing bass for 9 years impacted that. huh.)) so when I found a site that teaches proper technique and my wpm drops down to like 20, its frustrating. its hard too because I feel like I type how i read, i don't type/read each letter individually, I just type/read the entire word at once. so when these typing courses have you type meaningless strings of characters, its really hard to get it accurate because there's no muscle memory associated.

its extra frustrating because I used to know this. spent 3 years in elementary school doing mavis beacon typing during computer lab. that was like 7 years ago now so i guess it makes sense that i've lost it.

on the topic of typing, my dad is the fastest typer I've ever met, and he has a cool reason for it. way back in the late 90s/early 00s (i think) he got a job at a call-in center for deaf people. apparently there used to be these devices deaf people would have where when someone called them, the words that person spoke would be printed onto a screen. But obviously back then we didn't have speech recognition, so this was done manually with an intermediary. That's what my dad did. He listened to what the hearing person would say, then had to type it in real-time and send it over to the deaf person. So he got really really really good at typing, because you have to type in real-time, and people talk fast. He has crazy stories of the things he heard people say too.

I've got an ortholinear keyboard. It's neat.

(I'll also point out that QWERTY refers to the letter layout, not the keys' physical layout. Just to hit the pedantry quota for the day. ;))

      uhhhhh *stammers for excuse*

uhhhh no i hate the qwerty layout too, the rest of the paragraph is just a non-sequitur. yep.

I don't blame you for being frustrated over relearning to type, though. CGP Grey uses the Dvorak layout and describes the process of learning a new layout as like having a stroke.

I mean, I watch anime. What more do you want from me? :P I do admit that's a bit of a cheaty answer, as anime is a medium, not a genre: there's all sorts you can find there. There are shows I'd be proud to talk about and shows that I...wouldn't.

      Spoiler

it all boils down to the death rattles

someone pointed out to me that all rattles that are in the first person, aren't adressing the silent gatherers directly, and aren't explicitly about something we already know, refer to kaladin.

      Quote

Above the final void I hang, friends behind, friends before. The feast I must drink clings to their faces, and the words I must speak spark in my mind. The old oaths will be spoken anew.

Kaladin before the battle of the tower, right before he swears the 2nd ideal

      Quote

In the storm I awaken, falling, spinning, grieving.

Kal swearing the 4th ideal at the end of RoW.

      Quote

They come from the pit, two dead men, a heart in their hands, and I know that I have seen true glory.

This one's a little different, as it's still a first-person perspective, but not kals perspective. It does still apply to him though, it's him coming out of the caverns with the gemheart of a casmfiend.

      Quote

All is withdrawn for me. I stand against the one who saved my life. I protect the one who killed my promises. I raise my hand. The storm responds.

Kal swearing the third ideal, choosing to protect elhokar.

so what about the first-person rattles that we don't have meaning for yet?

      1.

      Quote

I'm standing over the body of a brother. I'm weeping. Is that his blood or mine? What have we done?

      2.

      Quote

I hold the suckling child in my hands, a knife at his throat, and know that all who live wish me to let the blade slip. Spill its blood upon the ground, over my hands, and with it gain us further breath to draw.

      see where i'm going now

if these apply to kaladin like all the other first person rattles

then they must be talking about Kal having to kill oroden
as odium has chosen him as his champion.

there's even this other first person rattle that's a little more questionable but could also apply:

      Quote

I'm cold. Mother, I'm cold. Mother? Why can I still hear the rain? Will it stop?

Kal turning to Hesina in despair after killing his own brother.

      ThroughTheLivingSequence

Pretty cool to think about! The moon may not seem that interesting, but getting there is much more complicated than it seems. The Apple TV+ show For all Mankind puts a really cool spin on both the moon missions and the space race, although a large portion of it is focused on character drama and not so much on space. I think one of the reasons it's so captivating is the fact that the real space race was soooooo boring. It actually makes all of humanity's ventures into space seem boring, now that I think about it.

  20. i like that justification, good job. using zahel is clever, was that your plan from the start? I did not deserve to win this at all lmaoooo I posted a single time, never voted, never read thread, and forgot to submit an action once. I just got INSANELY lucky. getting a dub feels good regardless edit: actually i wonder what those odds are. I submitted 3 actions total, targets chosen at random. the dummies have a 50% chance of living. there were only 3 dummies in the game at that point out of 11 remaining targets… so about a 13.6% chance? maybe? if i did math right? maybe a bit more because i had 2 previous targets that I had hit. those 2 targets weren’t cleared though because of the 50/50 thing, so i’m not sure how to factor that in. 13.6 is higher than i expected tbh. I suppose that’s still pretty lucky.
