  1. Pretty simple game. Give a single aspect of a potential character, as simple or as detailed as you want. The next person fleshes out that idea into a full character. (Just make sure you only give a single aspect. Don't define the character, that's their job.) You don't need to make the aspect that you've been given central to the character. just include it in some capacity. Originally this was going to be DnD characters specifically, but I figured that having to do all the stats and stuff would dissuade people. If you want you can still do that. I probably will at least a few times. Here's the official dnd sheets for reference: At the very least you should include a character's: Ideals Goals Fears Flaws because if you don't have those, you don't really have a character. If you're looking for other qualities to write up, here's some off the top of my head: Relationships Habits Skills Talents Speech patterns Appearance Unconscious desires Insecurities Guilty Pleasures To start off, I'm giving the prompt: Create a Character who fears the ocean, but pretends they don't.
  2. wait holy crap i just realized i haven’t raved about Outer Wilds to you guys yet

holy crap it’s the greatest game i’ve ever played. so far beyond anything else ever. play it. seriously. if you never play any other video game ever you have to play Outer Wilds. I don’t know how to convince you of this better, but you literally have to play it. I say this with all the fervor and passion i possibly can. I say it with more enthusiasm than I do when recommending sanderson. I say it with all the rhetoric i can possibly muster. play. this. game.

    A quick guide:

    1. DO NOT LOOK UP ANYTHING. EVER. This isn’t just a “best experienced by going in blind” scenario, it’s a “LEARNING ANYTHING ABOUT THIS GAME AT ALL WILL DIMINISH THE EXPERIENCE TO A MASSIVE DEGREE” scenario.
Don’t watch the trailers. (especially the one for the nintendo switch port, that trailer actually just spoils things.)
Don’t look up guides. (even ‘spoiler-free’ ones)
Don’t look up how to do something if you get stuck, even if you think you know everything already and can’t possibly be spoiled because you’ve figured it all out (you haven’t)
Don’t read the steam reviews, don’t look at game art, don’t look at the genre tags, don’t look at average playtime don’t look at ANYTHING. Spend as little time on the store page as you can, just click ‘add to cart’ and get out.
If it isn’t in the game itself, don’t look at a single thing relating to this game.

    2. Wear headphones the music is really good

    3. Don’t buy the DLC until after you’ve finished the base game (because you will want to buy the DLC)

    4. If you ever find yourself getting frustrated, enjoy it. Every single person who has played this game wishes they could experience it for the first time again. Every. Single. Person. Those moments of frustration are precious and few, don’t ruin them by looking up a guide.

    That is all.

holy crap 2022 ends in like 7 weeks what the heck

  3. if i lived 10,000 years ago and had no religion, i would absolutely start worshiping the moon.

      Thaidakar the Ghostblood

      Lol.

      I actually kind of agree.

Or I'd make up a story about some lightning god named Zeus and about how he blasts people to bits.

But, I mean, the moon's cool.

      Sun, moon, and stars probably.

I mean, there's a reason the moon is sacred in like all the religions.

And I mean ALL of them.

  4. It just ended today. So we’re all back to standard time.
  5. isn't today daylight savings so is this 5pm EST now
  6. I think bookwyrm will eat up another cycle and a good portion of our votes if he's still around D5, and we're getting to the point where the Vil needs to be very unified in our votes, if we're split too much, the elims can basically just decide the exe. his flip will let us go back and look at TWW in a new context too.
  7. If we're assuming archer is telling the truth, he definitely shouldn't reveal this. It would let the elims know who is unprotectable tonight. seconding this, that's a weird thing to do rn. It doesn't exactly seem like an elim play (at least, i don't see how e!archer would benefit from this), but i also don't see how vil!archer benefits.
  8. guys holy crap the moon is just there

like it’s not a projection or infinitely far away or out of bounds

it is a finite distance away just like that car across the street or the door to your room or the tip of your toes

    its just… there

One of my favorite things is when I can spot earthshine--the slight illumination of the dark portion of the moon, caused by light reflecting off the Earth.

      I love the moon.

    3. The Bookwyrm

      The Bookwyrm

I sometimes wish the Earth was a moon. Of a gas giant.

Imagine looking into the sky and seeing a world of swirling clouds dominating the sky...with other, smaller worlds just out of reach...

Oh, that would be amazing, wouldn't it? I've often wondered about that myself.

  9. Why are shining and silver clear?
  10. no don't shoot dannnnnex pls why would you shoot dannnex pls yes i agree (unbiased) that was the most wild EoD i was trying to figure out where this archivist train came from when cycle ended but like, i guess it worked soooooo cool! we are all of the agreement that illwei is conf-vil right
  11. ohohohoho everything makes sense now archer was giving me weird vibes with his arguments against me earlier and now i can completely see why. Bookwyrm Archer Edit: woah my page didn't refresh what the heck is all this sudden archivist train what why does this feel like a hammer
  12. The lack of killing Cin is strange, ill give you that. Perhaps redirected? Someone would've claimed the redirect then though. My guess is the elims had reason to guess that Cin wouldn't hit one of them. I think it just means the elims were confident Cin was headed in the wrong direction. And Cin's only recent suspicion has been JNV, who the Elims would have known is vil. Seems like the xino kill was just a balance between low-info and experienced player. Speaking of that @Cinnamon, you haven't shown up yet. Everyone is just glossing over the JNV kill, that was you right? Anything to say about hitting a villager again? just reread some more of that whole bit where you killed stick, and i think that deserves some more looking into. are we all of the consensus that Wiz redirected Cin onto Stick? Nobody has even brought up alternate possibilities, which I find a bit weird. I mean, I agree, that seems most likely, but the fact that that aspect of it all has barely been talked about is strange. They're pretty active elsewhere on the shard, maybe you've seen them around. I think its generally up to the GM, but I don't think most do purely random teams. Like, imagine if Araris did purely random alignments, and the entire elim team was newbies. Which in this game is entirely possible, since we had like 6 players for whom this was their very first game. That would be horribly unbalanced. If you have a player roster of all semi-experienced players, doing it randomly is more likely, but even then i wouldn't be surprised if GMs made a few small adjustments, using the random set as a starting point. Red means not e/e, yellow means likely e/e? Am i reading your chart right? please do i'm curious =P
  13. I can’t tell if this is tunneling!archer or weirdpressuring!archer, but you have to see how that makes no sense. I literally ranked silver as null, that’s the exact opposite of a clear. I’m voting Book for their weird votes, which i haven’t seen from silver. i fail to see any logical fallacy there.
  14. 1. Books can have a little credit, sure. But not even close to enough to outweigh all the scummyness I'm reading from him. 2. For those two nulls, yes. 3. None of Silver's votes have pinged me, but a few of bookwyrm's have. Specifically his vote on Mat that was pure 'vibes', where he then couldn't cite even a single sentence from Mat that felt off. Makes me think bookwyrm/mat e/e and that was a messy attempt at distancing. edit: forgot to actually read the rest of your post lmao, just responded to those first three questions Yes! Me too! We're on the same page! Yeah but we aren't making votes randomly. As I already said, I found it easier to find the 1 elim in the inexperienced pool. And I believe I have. Same as you, seems like they're going for the more experienced players =P you said that in our PM in that same PM btw, you speculated a largely new player elim team why the sudden turnaround?
  15. I don't That requires a lot of effort which I am too lazy to provide your whole argument against me rn seems weird like, its based off of how I chose to analyze the remaining pool which i think can just be explained by my playstyle. Like, I could have analyzed a different way, sure, but I didn't. i don't think that very alignment indicative. however, conclusions are. and I feel like if you actually looked at the conclusion I came to, it isn't flawed. at least, as far as I can tell.
  16. I just bought a frankly ridiculous amount of candy at walmart

but im at adult gosh darn it, i can do what i want

      Szeth's Facepalm

Everything made sense until i read your reply

  17. Exactly, that's why I'm doing it. If i did the inverse, the pool would be too big and I wouldn't know what to do with it =P but in this exact case, we have so many newbies that I cannot see a world where none of them are elim. And that pool is much easier to narrow down.
  18. Alright, i wanna look at the potential elim team comp we had an abundance of newbies this game, so I'm inclined to think there's at least 1-2 on the team. probably not more than that though, since NKs so far have been mainly on more experienced players. Newbies wouldn't know who the more experienced guys are, so at least one veteran must be guiding them. But back to focusing on the newbies, the ones remaining are Cin, Archivist, Silver, and Bookwyrm. I have to believe that at least one of them is elim, so that's the pool I'm gonna focus on. Ranking them from vil to elim, I have Cin, Silver, Archivist, Bookwyrm I'm reading Cin as vil for all that coinshot stuff earlier. Silver and Archivist are tied pretty closely at null, but silver has been a bit more active iirc, so bonus points there Bookwyrm is my best guess rn. they've been tied pretty closely to TWW, and I really haven't liked some of their votes.
  19. there is no vote manip =P
  20. I don't like shadow as an exe tbh. I think most of their slightly-elim-leaning behavior can be explained by them just being new. JNV on the other hand, is triggering all the alarm bells. They've posted one time this cycle, a long vote analysis of D2 with an ISO of TWW at the end, but they didn't even have a reads list in there. No vote at the end either. What was the point of all that analysis if you don't draw any conclusions from it. Feels like it was just a post to make it seem like they're trying to solve the game.
  21. i am proud of myself

    look at this code

x = int(input('What number would you like to take the facorial of?\n>> '))
    z = 1
    output = x
    while x > z:
        output *= (x-z)
        z += 1
    print(output)

    7 lines
and it took me like an hour to write
    but it's so simple
    so elegant

most graceful code i've ever written (in my whole 8 weeks of programming experience)

  22. i don't exactly disagree but c'mon, it's D3, surely you have something more than just bad vibes or can you at least cite something specific he said that gives you bad vibes?
  23. I'm not sure what the difference is but ok this post reads like forced distancing to me like illwei knows cin will flip elim and has to cover all the bases so now i'm suddenly considering illwei/cin e/e and am reeling from that possibility
