I like the idea, because I want to see more of Valor. But the fact that Viv's blade drains people of color when it kills them is simular to awakening, and I think good evidence that it is tied to Endowment and bio-chroma.

When rysn takes up the dawnshard she’s granted heightenings. BS has said that’s due to the amount of investiture.

I wonder if storing nicrocil makes you something like a drab in feruchemy, and tapping it can give you temporary heightenings. We found out in Dawnshard that simply having a lot of investiture grants heightenings.

The only issue I see with it is that Dawnshards appear to be enough investiture to grant immortality by nature. Maybe Frost picked up a shard. And dragons do age but hella slowly.

Closing up the bar on my phone and this thought occurred to me: Hoid, in the epigraphs of Stormlight, asks Frost how he’s enjoying his new found immortality. This is odd because we know from wobs that dragons, by nature, are functionally immortal. I propose that Frost was in possession of the Dawnshard opposite from Hoid’s. Perhaps even the Change Dawnshard, which was somehow counteracting his natural immortality. So he gives up said Dawnshard which causes Hoid to congratulate him on no longer aging. This is also kinda backed up by the fact that the only people who were involved with the shattering that we are aware of became Dawnshards or Shards and we know Frost was involved. And we know that whatever Dawnshard Hoid had made him immortal amongst other things. And if it was Change it fits the timeline relatively well because we know it came to Roshar within Horneater memory.

Just a small observation I noticed while reading some theories the last few days: the Sleepless seem to know that Dalinar is going to destroy them by choosing honor. They say as much. How would they have any idea that his choice will affect them long term? And another note, how do they know who to watch? Like we have confirmation that they write the backs of the books, how did they know to watch Kaladin, Shallan, and Dalinar? I personallly doubt that they can breed a hordling with the abilty to tap fortune, or one that can access a simular effect of atium. So is their knowledge coming from "Old Prophecies" or are they just so incredibly long lived that they can deduce patterns from what is occuring? IMO the former is more likely than the latter, as they were foolish enough to let a women who cannot even walk, get close enough to the Dawnshard to absorb it. I'd like to hear some of your opinons on how Sleepless are able to confidently predict future events.

Surprisingly not about Dawnshards!! I had a pet theory a few moments ago that the reason Hoid can hurt kel in secret history is not because kel is a cognitive shadow because hoid is sure to have seen cs before. But rather because kelsier was currently being preserved by the well. Hoid could punch him all he wanted because nothing he could do would ever actually harm Kel while he was a cognitive shadow being fueled by the well of Preservation. I believe there is a wob that states the location was important for that interaction but I cannot find it.

The only other magic system we’ve seen that deals with this sort of thing is forging (and maybe blood sealing) but I don’t think the soul stamps have to be placed in any specific spot. I think the reason hemalurgy requires bind point from a narrative perspective is to nerf it. From a realmatic perspective it’s likely due to how low investiture spikes are.

Vasher says early in the book that awakened objects try and take the form of humans. If a singer or kandra awakened we would likely see the awakened objects trying to imitate their forms right?

Set vs ghostbloods is going to be sweet.

This is pretty basic and doesn’t have much behind it but, I believe that Mishram will be located in Shinovar. My reasoning for this is that for most of RoW our main characters were split up and not interacting with one another. SA 5 is the final book of the series and it doesn’t make much sense for Kaladin Adolin and Shallan to be apart for any significant portion of the book. Given the wob that the recreance will be covered in the front 5 and the heralds in the back I propose that other than the challenge, freeing Mishram/discovering the secrets of the recreance will be the main plot of the book. And if we are going to see those three interacting I think they must have to be going to the same location. And we know Kaladin and Szeth are going to shinovar. Granted Dalinar won’t be, but he never really interacting with the Shallan and Kaladin like they did with one another. I also think it will be beneficial to developing Szeths character in the present to be around those three instead of just Kaladin, who likely would treat Szeth with wariness and never really tease out character development. a big hole in this theory is that maybe Kaladin and Szeth’s mission to Shinovar will be a small portion of the book, or Adolin and Shallans journey will be the short bit, regardless I believe our main characters aside from Dalinar will spend the majority of the final book of their arcs together.

Not to resurrect this thread, but it should be noted that Vin is shown on multiple occasions, unless I’m completely misremembering, to shatter bones with strikes. Tarson, while koloss blooded, is using a distilled form of A-pewter. And we don’t have a canonical scale for how much being koloss blooded increases strength.

I suspect shardblade forms are a little like green lantern rings, where the user’s, and maybe the spren’s, creativity is the only limitation within whatever bounds BS has set blades to have. It is a little odd that Kaladin, arguably the best warrior we have a pov for hasn’t tried anything more creative with Syl. And if he’s too straightforward of a warrior we should have seen Jasnah create some abstract-but-combat-efficient weapons. however Brandon had her pretending to be a normal shard bearer in RoW to not spoil the workings of living plate, he may have also done that to no spoil the more creative uses for blades. it’s particularly strange because in mistborn vin’s combat efficiency is almost entirely reliant upon her being extremely clever with her allomancy, I’m suprised we havnt seen anyone Vin-ing it with a blade. It’s likely for the same reason Jedi and Sith don’t turn off their blades mid swing in Star Wars: it makes for shorter and maybe less compelling fight scenes.

I have not given it any thought before reading your post, but my instinct says no the spear wouldn’t drain a persons Breath. For the reason you mentioned I think that Breaths are too stuck to the person for raysium so pull out, but it is a god metal so who knows. I could see it being able to grab breath out of an object. But I oppose rasyium being able to do that as it would be over powered

I agree that the radiants and fused coming together like they did at the end of RoW but on a larger scale would be baller. As for the ship, I can totally see it. It would also be a nice introduction into human/singer hybrids which we know were a thing in the past. Id be a little sad if he doesn’t end up with Syl somehow tho

Thematically I could see whatever weapon or power (likely the change dawnshard) was used to shatter the plains, being used to unshatter them. This seems to me like a back - half plot point though as I don’t think Dawnshards are going to be plot relevant in book 5

Not sure of this was mentioned above, but the Mink is almost certainly a Radient or at least a proto-radient. We have an interlude, and multiple references in RoW that he is able to escape ropes and chains uncannily. I’d bet on a stoneward for him. I originally thought of him as a proto-willshaper but it seems reachers only bond singers. Though I suppose he could also be a dustbringer. However given his propensity at escaping inescapable bindings I suspect cohesion/tension is at work, and stonewards were said to be the soldiers of the radients and the Mink is a soldier through and through. so there are radients in herdaz or at least one radient. Maybe there are more and we won’t hear about them until book five.

Perhaps. I suspect that Adolin will revive maya on his own though. Or perhaps when Mishram is freed that Maya will simply bond Adolin out the gate. I could see Vasher using his breath to revive a “dead” spren though, so if Syl were to get hit with some anti-stormlight he could save her.

I have always wanted a short story set on Nalthis outside of Hallodren. Specifically set wherever people consider returned to be vampire esk. Headcannon that where ever that country is returning turns ya into a godly being still, but with like pale skin and fangs due to the local people’s perception.
