They're not an insurmountable foe for pvp purposes, but they're almost always the powers of choice when people create characters. I also feel personally that they don't lead to particularly interesting characters. Everyone with steel compounding plays in more or less the same way. 'I tap steel, dodge everything that other people do and kill them before they can even notice' Now regardless of whether or not a PC can actually defend against that, it's a little boring to have so many characters who operate in a nigh identical fashion. But in addition, yeah it's really hard to stop a Steel compounder, because they can just dodge a leecher if you have one, or shoot them in the head before they know they're there, etc. It's not impossible to kill one of them, but it is far more difficult than it is to kill most other Invested characters, which does mean they're of a higher and potentially unfair power level. Personally I'd be far more interested with a character who is a twinborn of two different metals, and seeing what interesting interactions their powers might have.

Yep this is what I was thinking of too, then I can add a table of contents at the top and link to whichever post contains the summary, should be even easier to navigate then.

General suggestions: 1. No Gold Twinborn, Steel twinborn or full KR. Unlimited healing or speed are two of the most frequently used and most broken powers, they also provide little in terms of RP or story. It usually just amounts to being able to dodge/heal from any attack. 2. No leaders of armies (Unless wide-spread approval) Having a few NPCs to do PCs bidding is good and can help with setting a scene and heightens the RP. People leading a giant army of nameless mooks is not so useful, it devalues life, leads to power creep of PCs who have to fight these armies, etc.

I just noticed that Chaos' reminder of this is in the social guilds section from before we moved to our own subforum but we have had multiple instances of people in RPs creating multiple accounts. Now you might think this is a good idea so you can sneak into other guilds and get information or upvote yourself or just to have more say in the RP. This is against site rules and will not be tolerated by the site staff. Hopefully this is not required or relevant again but we do have ways of telling if people have multiple accounts so please everyone make sure you don't do this. Copying Chaos' original post here too: Locking this thread but feel free to PM me if there are any questions or concerns. If you do have multiple accounts please PM Chaos so that one can be removed.

That legitimately just gave me a headache.

Laurelai began scanning the display, eyes flickering across it at high speeds while she tapped Zinc to process the data and incorporate it into her stamp. "Just a sec." She muttered. "Just some final adjustments, can someone prep the subject for accepting the spike?" Mistwraith spikings were interesting affairs, it seemed that they had a mutable spiritweb, one which they were able to shift to accept new spikes, as such the placement of spikes was usually a much less precise affair than the other research they'd done. But in this case the Mistwraith would be completely lacking an Identity when they placed the spikes, they hadn't been sure if it would be able to reflexively accept the new spikes and so they would still need to create a map of the current placement of its spiritweb in case they needed to place it manually. That should be about it. Laurelai mentally reviewed the stamp once more, now adjusted for the new information that KoTiel had provided. Finally satisfied that it met their requirements she gave a nod to KoTiel. "Ready when you are."
-
Laurelai nodded with excitement as she joined Kotiel, they watched the fluids in the vat drain away, revealing the formless mass of flesh within. The new and improved Mistwraith that KoTiel had created. "I've finished preparations for the stamp." She said, eyes locked on the mistwraith. "It should account for the changes that were made here, accurate enough that it will hold until we can place the spike."

Contest of Champions Canton of Combat I meant to cover with the section on guild threads. Sorry, forgot how confusing that acronym can be.

Really doesn't work when you write that one down But I still enjoyed it.

I think a separate thread might be easiest for now, if it doesn't seem to work we can try something else. Once we've got some volunteers for various pages I'll get a thread up and then we can start posting summaries. So far we have: Other side of the world: @Ookla the Clueless / maybe @Ookla the Dragon Reborn The Forge: @Ookla the Clueless / Maybe @Darth Ookla WoD: @Ookla the Lurker Alley: @Ookla the Lurker The Great Game: Possibly unnecessary / @Ookla the Lurker CoC: Don't think these necessarily need summaries Investiture for a Better Life Foundation: ? / @Ookla the Lurker Einladung Hospital: ? Mountain of the Gods: @Ookla the Lurker Metamorphosis: Rise of villainy: ? City of Oasis: ? / @Ookla the Lurker These are all the main pages that are relatively recent, if we need summaries of other pages let me know, I've excluded guild pages because they're mostly out of character stuff. I've marked all the ones that I could already probably do a summary on, the blanks are ones that I'd have to read again to be able to summarize and might be easier for other people to summarize. If anyone wants to stick their hand up for something specific let me know.

Sewing needles? How dare you! Sewing needles are nowhere near the correct alloy for steel required by Hemalurgy, that would be criminally inefficient! We pull the heads off of thumbtacks and use the pin from those. Much better at reducing Hemalurgic decay.

The idea was discussed previously that we should have summaries of all the main threads once every page or so. Did anyone want to volunteer for doing this for any particular threads? I'll start doing some summaries for threads that I watch a bit more actively but there are some like the Forge and the Other Side of the World that don't involve any of my characters, and while I try to keep up to date on them still I'm a bit behind with some threads.

There's about 4 competing things that could release him right now, WoD was one of them but any of the other 3 could still happen. WoD was probably the most potentially dramatic though so if at all possible that's still my preference. As with the first era though he's not going to be intervening with anything much unless people openly try to attack him. Except for maybe murdering Mace a few dozen times.

Because if you hadn't I was going to recommend it. It's not as well publicized as some other books and shops don't always stock it so just in case you'd missed out on it I thought I should let you know. Glad you've managed to find it already though, it's a great read.

Laurelai paced inside the lab, tapping a pen anxiously on a pad of paper. The pad she was reading was crammed with hundreds of lines of writing, squeezed onto the page when she seemed to be running out of room. Other pages were filled with diagrams for stamps that had been drawn, redrawn, annotated, crossed out and revised. "This should be it." She remarked to the acolytes and other researchers in the room. "That research of the Strangers was helpful but there was too much residual damage, we should be able to create a patch over the identity portion of their spiritweb with this." The researchers nodded, a few of them speaking together quietly of their own research that would benefit from this. The acolytes in the room were rapidly writing in notebooks of their own, struggling to follow as Laurelai began explaining the more detailed realmatic implications and interactions. "So." She concluded. "Permutation Beta-21, utilizing the Soulforged Identity spikes created from the previous experiments, subject has had their own identity temporarily removed by means of Forgery." Just as the spike was about to be placed, the intercom to the lab began buzzing and a familiar voice rang out. "Hey, KoTiel here. How far are you with the research? I'm just about ready to decant the body over here." Laurelai walked over to it with a satisfied smile. "Just wrapping up here, running a final test before we move to the Mistwraith subject. Could you send through the logs for the incubation? I'll need it to create an appropriate stamp." Laurelai nodded to one of the acolytes who was still holding the spike over their subject, with a swift and precise downwards stab, the spike was placed into an identity bindpoint on the subject. The subject tried to bolt upright at the sudden physical and spiritual intrusion but was held down by restraints. Finally they stilled. "Spiritweb scan." She told the acolyte before turning back to the intercom, waiting impatiently for the results. "Scan complete." The acolyte said quietly after running a handheld scanner over the now-motionless body. "No elements of subjects original identity found." A burst of applause and smiles broke out over the researchers who immediately began discussing how they could expand upon this. The nearby acolytes smiled widely as well, being a part of an experiment like this might set them up to become full researchers or field agents. "I'll be right over." Laurelai said to the intercom, supressing a smile of her own. With a nod to the DA staff who remained in the lab she headed out towards KoTiel's.

Worldsingers and other things
Voidus replied to prayingforsuperpowers's topic in Introduce Yourself!
It should also be noted that they taste terrible and have 0 chance of giving you superpowers. I mean really, why do people still even think this is a competition? Yeah as mentioned the Worldsingers and Worldbringers are two separate but related groups. source source -
