  1. That's right, only trust the ones that come from this place called the DA. Some people come from this place called TUBA, they might try and trick you but don't believe them. Here, have a DA certified cookie. And welcome to the forums!
  2. From memory cadmium dilation is more pronounced but may be completely wrong. Even so it does seem excessive.
  3. Assuming this is using Cadmium for time-dilation?
  4. I just feel like we'd be stripping away so much of what makes magic great that it'd be no more than essentially just inventing new magics for people to chose from (Which, honestly I'm never that excited about, as Brandon says it's the limitations that make magic interesting) The settings are so much of what makes MtG interesting, the guilds of Ravnica, the Eldrazi, etc. Cutting just the abilities out and pasting them in another setting would just seem incredibly hollow to me, a story without its soul.
  5. With sufficient Hemalurgic decay it is however possible for them to do practically nothing. But yeah, not actually nothing.
  6. I'm wondering if this should potentially be a sub-RP thing. MtG is just way to huge to also integrate into Sanderson stuff, it would completely take over the identity of the RP I feel. I love MtG, I have some great sourcebooks to use for setting an RP there but I don't think it would integrate well into another RP. To do it justice it really needs its own RP dedicated to it. (Dibs on Dimir)
  7. That was very much intentional.
  8. It's possible that the DA would hand someone over, but it'd depend on who it was and what it was for. It'd probably be less official than an extradition treaty but if/when this happens we can discuss specifics.
  9. Capacity for sorrow is conceivably spikable, or emotional instability, or sorrowful memories. A specific sorrow would be something very difficult to spike but likely still technically possible (Pretty much anything is spikable really) would probably need to be performed by a very experienced Hemalurgist. (Pretty much Ruin or someone who has spent their entire life figuring out how to do this one thing) It's been a while since I've spent huge amounts of time in the Mistborn subforums but I believe this concept is still contentious.
  10. In-character? To get resources, meet with people, acquire information, etc. Out-of-character? (And speaking from experience here) Because having your character trapped somewhere can get really boring sometimes. That's always going to be possible, it's unlikely that it'd end up happening but still possible.
  11. But I mean I already conducted an informal poll and 100% of respondees agreed...
  12. All good, I've always been sympathetic to the fact that it's a dramatically unbalanced group. That's why literally the only times Voidus has ever used any abilities since the start of the RP is to create a proxy for himself that was more inline with regular character levels. (A rock Elsecaller) and to let someone in to see the Worldspike (Which promptly caused him to get trapped there so he couldn't interfere in the war) There are some plans to ensure that the DA characters that interact with other people are within standard acceptable PC ranges. I haven't revealed the specifics of those plans even within the DA because they're very plot dependant so it depends on what happens at the end of this era.
  13. I feel like you're both missing the point of these weddings a little bit.
  14. Probably not, no. If anyone entered DA territory trying to catch a criminal they'd probably end up captured or dead but they wouldn't really go out of their way to go saving people or anything like that. Yeah that's what I was trying to suggest, they'd just completely ignore the government, not trying to influence it but also not influenced by it. @Furamirionind going to break this response up into parts: Yep, that's what I was trying to suggest earlier, sorry if that wasn't clear. Depends on how other DA members feel about this but for me personally this would be what makes the most sense. Being able to ignore a law isn't a reason to ignore it, but it's a reason to not be bound by it. If you want to do something that's against the law but you know that there'll be no repercussions if you do then why wouldn't you? Yeah that was what I was trying to suggest when I was talking about the DA being an underground of sorts. Fugitives are safe inside DA territory because trying to invade it would be suicidal, but when they go outside they're still fugitives. I would be very concerned if the lawmakers of the Alleyverse didn't target the DA All the above is subject to other DA members weighing in, in-character I only have 2 DA characters, 1 is Voidus who can't do anything at the moment and wouldn't really mind that much when he gets out, the other is a pretty junior member of the DA and isn't likely to personally violate any laws. So if someone has any other suggestions that make sense I'm definitely open to them.
  15. This predates the RP, the Alleyverse was essentially built around the DA originally and we were not originally planning on being a part of a balanced RP. So there are a lot of OP characters, abilities and resources in the DA. I was aware of this and made it clear at the outset of the RP and people were still ok with building an RP around it so that's what ended up happening. But that's why we don't get involved with the rest of the Alleyverse and why Voidus is currently stuck in a barrier. Basically it's only really a deterrent against attacking the DA. There have been 2 times where the DA interfered with anything, once when everyone tried to attack the DA (And it still wasn't a full counter attack even then) and once when a giant mecha-base was headed to the Alleycity which was also nothing close to a full counter attack. Yep. This has been made clear since before the RP started, the DA is not merely the creation of the players who now RP in it, a lot of people put a lot of time into worldbuilding it. I'm not going to agree to one-sidedly destroy that. I realize that that can seem unfair to newer players who didn't get to participate in that conversation but it's a pretty foundational element of the world now.
  16. I suppose the alternative is that the DA becomes the defacto underground for the Alleyverse where lawless people can have some kind of a safe haven. Another point would be that while the guild itself is virtually immune to any attempt to impose authority upon it, normal character restrictions will apply to any PCs from the DA. So if they want to interact with the rest of the Alleyverse they'd either have to still adhere to the law or risk getting captured as soon as they leave DA territory. Might be a nice societal divide.
  17. Hellbent marries Dusk Solace marries Loc('s disembodied voice in his head) Tena marries Klasten Max marries Althea (Obviously) KoTiel marries Mac Mace marries Death (Not the character, the concept. Because Voidus murders him when he sees him) We got plenty to work with
  18. Personally I'd rather not dive into it at all, I don't think we could either do justice to the MtGverse given what we already have set up, or that it would add much to existing Alleyverse stuff. That being said if anyone ever sets up a MtG RP I'm definitely down because I love Magic.
  19. Ok: Talk to me about that.
  20. The organisation wouldn't turn down additional power but yeah this is one of the things I was getting at, the DA would either form a dictatorship or completely ignore any sections of government that they disagreed with because there's no way anyone could force them into compliance. There are some plans for limiting the DA a little more next era but that's more intended for personal interactions not intra-guild affairs so I'm not sure if it'd solve the problem.
  21. See some assassins try to do some really entry level stuff like sneak into a secure area and stab someone silently in their sleep, being noticed by none. When Mace assassinates, he shoots a stationary rock with a machine gun. Best. Assassin. Ever.
  22. Well then you're not a real lawyer, after all lawyers have no souls, the DA steals souls, therefore lawyers = DA. My logic is infallible. The issue there is that the DA is rather insanely OP, so they don't really need to cooperate with other people, but also they don't get involved with other guilds affairs or act other than in self defense. (Because otherwise the RP wouldn't be very interesting). So while it's possible that they might participate in a government if other people tried to set one up, but they'd just ignore any decisions they didn't like because there's no way anyone could enforce them.
  23. Fortunately for the DA, all lawyers are either DA experiments or members so we still have the legal high ground even if the gov disagrees (But as a note, this is the kind of reason I think the government is unlikely to function, the DA isn't going to give up spiking people so they're either not going to accept a governmental position or the other guilds are going to need to legalize spiking people)
  24. Unless you join the DA, then you definitely end up with the legal high ground.
  25. We've worked out the kinks I swear, definitely no blue skin this time. Cookie may instill eternal loyalty to the DA in its consumer, but the DA is awesome so you should be eternally loyal to the DA anyway and also free superpowers so this cookie has only beneficial effects with the possible exception of the loss of your soul.
