  1. You assume that I was trying to spell intently.
  2. Because only a crazy person would vote for hating cookies. *Glares intently at the 7 crazy people*
  3. Locked for now. May unpin this one eventually since it's no longer really needed.
  4. That's a personal approach. It's not one I have objections to but it assumes that everyone will make the same assumption. And yes, we could do a listing somewhere but whether people have to do research on a thread in the Alleyverse or whether they have to go to a halo wikia, the point is still that people are unfamiliar with it. It essentially forces something that's not of interest to everyone onto the RP, meaning they have to know about it. At this point I don't think I have anything further to add to the conversation and I don't want to sound like I'm the arbitrator of whether or not this happens so I'll leave it to the poll.
  5. Crossbows can break Shardplate if used enough, if a crossbow can then a Needler probably can. And this is kind of case in point, they don't exist in the same universe so it's impossible to prove one way or the other and going to be difficult to convince someone. Could an energy sword break Shardplate was the question. This one in particular is borderline impossible to judge, and I think you may have misread because this was about a Shardblade not a Shardplate But here's the other issue, you're issuing absolute statements on these which is impossible to state because different universes. The answer is fundamentally unknowable, the best we can do is guess. And not everyone's guess is going to align. Also just a note but these weren't actual questions. I know how I would rule each of them, but they were meant to illustrate the type of thing that is going to come up. The fact that the way I would rule it is different from how you are is essentially my point.
  6. Regardless of how the information is disseminated, introducing something that isn't widely known is going to cause issues and potentially confuse or slow down the RP. Then there's also the questions that have no clear answer. Could a Needler penetrate Shardplate? An Energy sword? What would happen if a Shardblade tried to block an energy sword? etc. Now at some point someone's going to have to make a ruling on that, which is going to mean a relatively large amount of deliberation, discussion and research.
  7. Characters who fit within the guidelines would be ok obviously, and I do think that another timeskip isn't necessary, but if we come up with some rules that characters don't fit within, then we shouldn't keep those characters. It would be bias, but the bias would be founded upon something, in this case the fact that warhammer has already been integrated for a while and also is pretty rare that it actually comes up. Because up until now we've only had one source of sci-fi so they had to engage with other guilds on the ground. If we open up a bunch of sci-fi guilds then it's pretty inevitable that things will start moving to space. Many people have said it would subtract from their enjoyment, that's what this entire discussion is about. And part of the objection is around the worldbuilding itself and effect on story theme so simply staying out of the way isn't necessarily a solution. And as I mentioned in the PM, if the goal is to stay out of the way of the rest of the Alleyverse and limit involvement then at that point it's essentially a separate RP. Selling technology is going to cause an influence on other threads, characters and stories. Either it's still going to affect the rest of the Alleyverse in at least some ways (In which case previous objections still stand) or it's not involved at all in which case it may as well be a separate RP.
  8. Bolded for emphasis. And we do know that Lerasium would increase Allomantic power if you burned it, but that's still the side effect. I believe the OP was trying to suggest what the primary effect of burning it would be.
  9. My issue here is that if we introduce a bunch of rules but then just keep the same characters then it kindof negates the point of the rules. One of the main things I know a lot of people want is bringing down the power level, we can't really do that if there's a bunch of OP characters still wandering around. Just so it's here as well: Official policy is 9 months. Lovecraftian stuff has been part of the Alleyverse since before there was an Alleyverse But that doesn't necessarily mean people are ok with it I guess so I think so, but not 100%
  10. Anything related to Skyward would need to be spoiler tagged until it's out of it's spoiler period since this isn't the Skyward subforum so it'd make RP a bit awkward.
  11. Man i would love a dragon age RP
  12. To sum up what I see as the main arguments from the con side: -Sci fi leads to space opera which is of an entirely different scale to what the Alleyverse focuses on, this can minimize and draw attention from other plots. -Sci fi leads to armies, which people have expressed concerns about - Sci fi requires vast resources and power, which people have expressed concerns about. - Sci fi technology tends to be on a power level that's higher than what people want in the Alleyverse. - Thematically it doesn't match most of Brandons works which make up the base of the Alleyverse. And some from me personally: - Sci fi as a genre usually tells different stories, this would create radically different stories within the RP and might derail or spoil stories that are started with a more traditional fantasy element in mind. - Technology can be acquired by anyone so adding technology into the Alleyverse means potential issues with making magic based characters even more powerful. - It seems likely that this would lead to an arms race, power creep, scope creep and increased PvP (Almost all sci fi elements that people have introduced have been combat based in nature)
  13. Not trying to say that there isn't a primary effect, just that it's obviously not as simple as simply burning it. If most people tried to burn Lerasium all that would happen is they'd become a Mistborn/stronger Mistborn. If it was as simple as just powering Allomancy I doubt Brandon would have said: Additionally, burning the Mists is what gives super powered Allomancy and Brandon has said that it does something different in each of its forms (Solid, Liquid, Gas) so I'm not sure if it'd just be the same power. I think Lerasiums primary effect is more likely some form of generalized spiritweb rewriting or something Spiritual in nature.
  14. Wiping a stream of sweat from her forehead, Lexi leaned against the wall of a long-abandoned bookstore. The thin trails of dust tickling her throat as she took a deep, steadying breath. Well, I think that's the last of them gone. She'd managed to escape the last of the gang that was pursuing her, losing them in a momentary blackout that seemed to block out the sun. She'd almost broked her neck trying to run without being able to see, but she'd been on enough supply runs in the dead of night that she was somewhat accustomed to navigating by touch. She was about to start taking a roundabout route home, not wanting to risk any more people with guns chasing her, when she realized where she was. "Destination Doughnuts?" She muttured, looking at the storefront. Well they seem to have quite a few customers today. Guess they could stand to lose a couple. She scouted out a few nearby back alleys, pulling a small sack out of one of her bags she managed to fund a few of what she was looking for. Their dirty grey bodies twisted in her grip as she tried to place them in the bag without being bitten. After collecting a half dozen, she walked around the back of the doughnut store, using a nearby trash can she got enough of a vertical jump to pull herself over the roof as silently as she could manage. She shimmied carefully towards an open window, and slowly opened it, revealing a checkered tiled floor that was in need of a mopping and a urinal. Men's bathroom? That'll do. She dropped the sack in through the window, loosening the opening enough that they could get out, before throwing herself off the roof and into a roll, darting around a corner to see what happened. She gave it a minute or two before the rats made their way out into the main restaurant.
  15. I'm not opposed to technology (Technology is SCIENCE after all). But when space ships, fleets and armadas get involved it makes things a bit awkward. It's a whole different scale of story, and I think it's definitely likely to create three things that multiple people have mentioned they want less of: Power creep, armies and PvP.
  16. https://wob.coppermind.net/events/294/#e10116 Just as a side note here, most Mistborn would not be able to do anything other than increase their Allomantic strength. I doubt that it'd simply function as a universal metal, if anything that would seen like more of a side effect. It'd be a bit of a waste of Lerasium to just use it to fuel some Allomancy.
  17. Boots from you too! Offense!
  18. Well I'm very sorry for that, I must have been off that day. It's a cookie, as a welcome to the forum. They're very high in iron, healthy as well as delicious.
  19. I am offend! Boots please.
  20. We have an excellent marketting campaign and a loyal fanbase. Definitely no other reasons.
