Long Game (3)2: Pulling on Strings
Yitzi2 replied to Orlok Tsubodai's topic in Sanderson Elimination
High Imperial? But wasn't that the creation of the Lord Mistborn? No wait, he based it on the Eastern street slang that he grew up with. I'm pretty sure that particular slang arose fairly close to the Catacendre. Time to make a guess...and hope my High Imperial isn't too far off. He turned to the apparent Easterner. "Ising you a-beening a-Luthadel a-late"? -
Long Game (3)2: Pulling on Strings
Yitzi2 replied to Orlok Tsubodai's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Garshin laughed. "I didn't mean quite that recent, or that personal. But that's very interesting. I just got one just like it too." He took out his own letter. "Whatever this test is, it may be possible to work together. You interested?" -
Long Game (3)2: Pulling on Strings
Yitzi2 replied to Orlok Tsubodai's topic in Sanderson Elimination
As Garshin exited the alley, he saw two people, one apparently fallen out of the same alley, and the other checking if he was all right. He hurried over and aided the upright man. How do I find out when I am without sounding crazy? "I've been out of touch lately, I'm wondering if you can tell me a bit about what's been going on recently?" That should give me at least some idea, so I can start narrowing it down. ------- @Hemalurgic_Headshot that's your character he went up to. (Also, @OrlokTsubodai I think we might soon need information about exactly when this is occurring. The OP made it fairly clear that it's after the end of Final Empire and before the end of Hero of Ages, but that's still a fairly eventful time span.) -
I'm going with it being the spren. Yes, they are a form of Investiture...but often so is metal. (Atium certainly is, and the facts that shardblades have to be metal and that metal "glows" to Vin-as-Preservation like souls do strongly suggests that there's a significant connection in general.)

I thought the two were Roshar (since Honor is referred to as having created humans) and Scadrial (since the planet itself did not predate the arrival of Ruin and Preservation).

Hey, they say to write what you know, so maybe that's what he was doing there.

The Importance of Being Sel
Yitzi2 replied to SylphrenaHonorSpren's topic in Elantris and Emperor's Soul
I'm pretty sure that every Shard will end up being important by the end...and Sel has two of them. -
Very low, as its effect on them was almost certainly negative, and they were too far away for it to be plausible that they caused it unintentionally. I'm not so sure that Jaddeth even exists at the moment (not until Dominion reassembles, at least)...but it being caused by Wyrn or his agents in some way seems quite plausible.
-
Depends why you dislike it. It's a very different style than Elantris, but one that I personally found to be even better.
-
And leave Scadrial ripe for another Shard to take over? That's not even considering the question of what splintering that power would do to the world that it created.

Long Game (3)2: Pulling on Strings
Yitzi2 replied to Orlok Tsubodai's topic in Sanderson Elimination
The mail coach pulled up. "Letter for you". "Thank you." Garshin went back to his house and opened the letter. Maybe he'd finally gotten that nomination to the Senate; after all his work, the Sliver certainly knew he deserved it. As he opened the letter, a strange mist surrounded him. By the time he had finished reading it, he was in a dim ash-strewn alley, with more ash falling from the sky. Somehow, he was still able to breathe without difficulty. What...have I been sent back in time? Must be. Maybe if I pass this test, whatever it is, I'll get to go back. First step, figure out when I am. ----------- I've decided on a new cosmetic role: Time traveler. Garshin is from era 1.5, so I'll be making constant references to the fact that I know how things will turn out in the long term, if not for Garshin himself, and referring to main characters (if relevant) by their era 1.5 titles. -
My guess is that he was used as a model for the character, but not in terms of personality.

I'm betting on the one who naturally engages the other's weakness.

1. Depends how the dowser works. However, at that point, he was still effectively in the process of getting his powers, so it's not so strange that the dowser would give a "no" reading. 2. Yes, but to a lesser extent, as shown by Tavi when she fought Prof.

Very possibly, being confronted with the fact of their own mortality would be sufficient.

The Reckoners may never have learned Steelheart's weakness

What happens when you burn Trellium? [Secret History Spoilers]
Yitzi2 replied to HonorIsDead's topic in Mistborn
But to burn Atium you do. I suspect that Lerasium is unique in this regard since it is Preservation's power that fuels Allomancy. -
Yeah, there's no question the Ire were not founded between the Reod and Elantris. The question at hand was whether they predated the Reod, or post-dated the events of Elantris.
-
Neither would the Preservation in him; unchanging stasis isn't a very appealing world. A perfect world might very well be a viable compromise between the two, if he were smart enough to figure out what would constitute a perfect world and how to bring it about without using ethically problematic means (if such is even possible).
-
So if the metal is turned into Investiture and no longer is physically present...how is Allomancy still considered end-positive? And why the need to draw energy from Preservation, rather than it using the energy coming from the mass of the metal?

The Formation Of The Worldspire
Yitzi2 replied to Mark Adrian's topic in Alcatraz Versus the Evil Librarians
I suspect any optimal answer will involve Dark Talent spoilers and therefore belong in that subforum. -
Ironically, the Cosmere is a setting in which a hat made of "tinfoil" (it's really aluminum foil) can provide protection against mental manipulation. (I'm sure Brandon did that intentionally.)
-
I don't see Kaladin/Shallan getting along significantly better than honorspren and cryptics. Of the characters we've seen so far, I think Lift is definitely the most plausible match for Kaladin.

Geniuses Wanted- Well Read Sanderfans -with restrictions
Yitzi2 replied to 1stBondsmith's topic in Cosmere Discussion
-Listeners can form the Nahel bond, but only with the spren that is giving them their form. -Eshonai will prove too much for Odium's influence (through her own will), and will become a Willshaper. (Together, these two suggest the question: What type of spren is associated with the Willshapers, and what Listener form is associated with that type of spren?) -At the end of either Stormlight book 5 or Stormlight book 10, Odium will be banished from the Roshar system. -The final Mistborn trilogy will end with the re-forming (to some extent, in any case) of Adonalsium. -Sel will have a significant impact on the modern-era Mistborn trilogy. -Taravangian will become a bondsmith, with the Nightwatcher as his spren. His actions while super-intelligent will be what "breaks" him enough for this to happen. -
Theory: Devotion and Dominion are actually a "Spintered Shard"
Yitzi2 replied to Yata's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Unlikely, as if that were valid, then Hemalurgy and Allomancy should now be a single system, and they aren't.
