  1. Quite a bit, or not. Iron is plentiful in planet, so they can use that (like a looot in the core, 30% of Earth is iron). But even slight changes in planet's speed can throw it into an unstable orbit. So steel would be needed, but hey, there is a lot of human constructions and tools lying around the planet, so he can use it! So he stores mass as much as he can, which lowers inertia, which makes small speed changes have much more drastic effects.
  2. This just gave me much easier idea for planet wide destruction without involvement of the Dawnshard. If Bondsmith bonds feruchemist to the whole planet, he can store in metalminds speed and weight, causing deorbit of this planet. Then get out through CR, and after few years, this planet would become frozen rough planet wandering among nothingness. Or he can deorbit it straight into the sun. "easier"
  3. What I meant is that Medalions grant feruchemy and allomancy only, as this is what we see in books, not powers from whole Cosmere like Rosharian Surgebinding. While it is theoretically possible to make such a medalion, in books they didn't achieve this yet. But it's not for me to say if this is allowed or not. fuerochemistry? You mean Feruchemy? There is only 16 metals involved in Allomancy and Feruchemy, they are known to us already, and 17 god metals, which are not known for us, so we can't really use them. There is Atium that stores youth, so Hordling could tap Atium and put attribute of youth in it, to become physically older, not mentally. But this would not affect birth rate.
  4. Wisdom-like shard was only told to realised over time, that survival is not the best option, but nothing else was said about it being the survival shard. It doesn't need to be survival shard to realised that. And if survival shard has its intent strongly connected to survival, than coming to that conclusion is partially against its intent, but it's still possible for it to happen, as it doesn't mean that it doesn't want to survive. We have NOTHING to say how Virtuosity and Wisdom-like shard are expressing their intents. Odium name is all about hate, yet he values Passion not just hate.
  5. Does she splits white light into rainbow? I don't think so. but don't remember. This is a really good question to ask Brandon. Those are the words I should use instead of "satisfied"! I knew it had some name.
  6. Finally someone did it. I was surprise that there was no Nightblood on the list, and was waiting for someone to make one I was toying with idea of making someone that is not Fullborn-Radiant-Elantrian-Returned for a change, someone that would have hard time in this tournament. So yeah, I made someone unfitting for this. Aluminum compounder (A-aluminum is pre-Harmony spike), who used to hold Dawnshard, but have it no more, with Hoid-like Torment, that prevents me from killing and harming people but grants immortality and invonourility, with Boon and Bane that allows me to overcome my Torment, but only when I'm not myself, and that's when I can be killed, but also when I can kill - so I also took Forgery and F-duralumin medalion. With identity compounding and connection storing, I can forge myself into any power (only one at the time, so it wouldn't get overboard), and store new identity and connections, which I can later use to make better, and longer lasting stamps. I really need to make stamps granting me new powers only, as identity and connections fitting for forgery, I can provide from my metalminds. So this guy would just slowly run around arena, being invulnerable, using F-duralumin to become friend and ally of other contestants, and forge himself to fight on their side (under their protection rather) with one power only, which makes him vulnerable. All that to make someone less powerful. But with Dawnshards, Nightbloods and Flash running around, this idea dies very quickly. Points are definitely under 1000 so I don't even count. Still my original hemalurgic Bondsmith will battle to win, while this guy will just be there.
  7. Skill and experience isn't similar to you? He also said that Prudence sounds like a Shard name, and there are probably many WoBs asking about another names. The general intent of this Shard is most likely associated with survival. Wisdom-like shard might not be survival one, as there is nothing in the WoBs suggesting that survival is connected to its intent.
  8. Roshar doesn't have much oil or coal deposits, it relatively young planet, they can't follow Earth's development. However they have Stormlight, which already in the books can mimic our technology, like lifts, pomps, airship. They will use fabrials and Stormlight to achieve the same tech as Earht's. This tech will function differently, but has the same effects. Skyscrapers are not only possible on Roshar (Urithiru IS one), but they can build higher ones due to lower gravity. Those would have to have blade like shape, with both edges facing east and west, and pendulums to dampen storms vibrations like in Taipei Tower. With soulcasting those can be build easily. And Roshar, unlike Earth, can have flying cars. It's gonna be cool.
  9. Well, this is Szeth's flashback book, and character doesn't have to be alive for flashbacks, sooo. Just saying. You are asking some very good questions here. Congrats, you're on the right path. Some of this questions might get answered in this book. So, quoting Brandon - RAFO - Read And Find Out. There is a lot. Like all of them. List posted above is great summary. Those answers will slowly be appearing in books, but at first there isn't much. I put in spoiler tag some of the answers, trying not to spoil anything, many of those things we knew partially from WoBs first, before apearing in books. If someone thinks that is revealing too much information, please point it out, I can edit it. Well, that's better than me, when I first read all Brandon books, like 10 years ago, I didn't even realised that it's all connected. Then I started to look at some things on Wiki, and I was very surprised to know it's all in the same world. And I have to read all of it again.
  10. @IlstrawberrySeed I don't think that when @Frustration wrote "Medallions - 12 points per power(specify which, not limited to 4 powers, or to feruchemy)" he meant all powers accross Cosmere, and not just powers of Allomancy or Feruchemy. Well, it's technically possible to make those medalions, but you would need purified Dor to power them or maybe not (?). So good job on tricking the system, kind of. But I think you would need connection to Preservation to use allomancy/feruchemy. That's what Lerasium bead do, make connection so you can draw power from it. Medalions do provide connection, but your Nicrosil Twinborn now doesn't have that now. And what is "Birthing Compounding medalian"? Sleepless bread by having kids natural way, that's not invested ability. Still fun idea.
  11. That's the winner. But eventually Nightblood would collapsed perpendicularity, as Nightblood would want more per second than perpendicularity per second can provide. Aons can provide investiture for Nightblood, but it would collapsed as Nightblood wants too much of it, and would feed on aons. Yup, that's the second place. He is the most invested person currently. Just look at the effects his Breats has around him. Those are effects of huge amount of investiture. Surprisingly, this is not a lot of investiture. Those are small amounts. Maybe if he were to hold power of the Well, he would be the winner and Nightblood would get satisfy even. But with just his metalminds, that low amounts of investiture. And he would have to actively draw from his metalminds and burn metals to feed Nightblood, otherwise, Nightblood would feed on his soul. Even shorter than The Lord Ruler. Don't they use investiture from the Sand? But that still is small amount. That's short still. For fast fightning ok. That would satisfy Nightblood, he wouldn't be able to eat her whole, as she's holding ridiculous fraction of shard power. So the winner as well.
  12. Strength of the steel push is the same, is constant without flaring. It is how much power you can get from burning your steel. But strength of the effect of steel push on object vary, as you now look at the effect your steel push have on different object, which depends on values like weight, distance, angle, being braced etc, and strength of your steel push (like Vin had stronger steel push than Kelsier, but due to mass difference, they both had almost equal effect on coin) Those factors determinate how strong effect deos your steel push have on something. Flaring increace your strength of the steel push. I don't konw if there is any value for steel, but for pewter, it makes you 3 times stronger, while non-flared pewter only 2x. So expect something similar with steel.
  13. You right, it doesn't. The steel push is always the same strength, but the strength of its effect on object depends on weight.
  14. Compounding would happen. You get lot's of feruchemical attributes to use or store back in Bands. But don't burn nicrosil, you may break how the Bands work or something.
  15. For him not to get launched, he would have to have greater weight than train car. But can he braced? He doesn't have pewter to counter being crushed between two steel pushes. so he most likely just increased his weight well beyond train car (I don't remember what was it in book). In Era 1 Vin was always using pewter to survive being braced between two steel pushes - it's necessary. Without pewter he has to use weight.
  16. 100% agree Szeth is such a great and conflicted character, with powerful weapon and full of mysteries.
  17. It's basically like conservation of momentum, if allomancer and the metal have the same mass, they both have the same spead, if allomancer is much heavier, inertia prevents him from moving, and metal flies away. So when Wax pushes on train car, he has to have almost the same mass as that car to push it.
  18. If you read further into article I linked, it then takes into account atmospheric composition, greenhouse gasses, how much solar radiation reaches the surface and how much atmospheric radiation affects the surface, radiation from the surface etc. I haven't read it all yet, I plan to as it looks interesting.
  19. Mercury doesn't have atmosphere, and around 1/3 of Sun's heat is reflected back to space by Earth's atmosphere (while Venus is like 70% reflective). Mercury is so close to Sun that solar winds and other stuff affect it as well. And it's smaller than Venus. Not a good comparison to Earth-like conditions. I think with my weirdish head calculations, that Venus recieves twice the amount of Sun's energy than Earth. Energy, not temperature. Found something to prove it: And just below it says: So it seams that it proves @cometaryorbit claims, that if Venus has Earth atmosphere it would be around 30 degree C.
  20. You don't need to fit all that metal in your stomach, you just need to have it. Let's say you have a two huge piles of iron, you start with cutting small, eatable pieces of 1st pile and compounding it, and storing it into more small pieces, and what you can't store in small pieces of 1st pile, you store in second one. After some time you are left only with 2nd pile full of attribute - you touch it and tap it all at once and collaped into black hole. But your compounded weight dissapears in that moment and, via Hawking Radiation, you implode, as that black hole returns into human mass. But yeah, the piles of iron size of the mountain - "theoretically" possible. I think if she went Mach 10000 not only she would be smashed into bloody goo by atmosphere, but everyone around her would be dead Just little above Mach 1 would be ok with description in books. Nicrosil stores ability to use investiture, like feruchemy, allomancy, surgebinding. That's what medalions are doing. Not investiture like Stormlight. But what allomancy compounding does? Can it make your allomancy stronger than that of Lord Ruler, or it doubles it so it can be granted to someone else?
  21. Yeah, me to, however there is like 32 more max point, from which Nalthis gained only 1/3, 12,5. So math is ok. Nalthis didn't score well somehow. I can't think of anything else to add to new sections, but to economic section of Nalthis I would add that Hallandren have extensive dye plantations and dyes made out of Tears of Edgli (uniqe good in whole Cosmere), which are very desirable and are the reason for the wealth of Hallandren. Also they sell Breaths and have whole market around that. T'Telir has restaurants and food delivery form them. They also trade with other worlds via CR with goods like paintings and art pieces famed across Cosmere. Idris have the only known copper mines in the world. That means both Hallandren and Idris has monopoly on specific trade good and thus rich and stable economy.
  22. I don't remember how it was described in book, and I don't have book to check, but Spectrograph works by showing absorptions spikes. So spikes is the lack of light of specific frequency. So you have a light emitted/bounced by an object and you looks for absorptions spikes, which corresponds with atoms and molecules that absorbed that light. In case of godmetal alloy, you have one huge spike for godmetal, and smaller ones for specific metal. There could be multiple frequencies absorbed by one atom or molecule.
  23. wisdom - the quality of having experience, knowledge, and good judgement; the quality of being wise. virtuosity - great skill in music or another artistic pursuit. For me they look pretty similar by definition. Both are about experience and skill. That is one of many possibilities.
  24. I already did it, several times. Dawnshard ch 19 - you should read it. Dawnshards are commands, they aren't granting commands, they are them. If you building your house out of bricks, can a brick become your house? Surge is usage of investiture, and it require investiture, command and intent. Command on its own (in person or not) can't become a Surge. They aren't on the level of Dawnshard, they aren't on the level of divine understanding of Command, to achieve this, you need to expand your spirit web, which is what Dawnshards are doing, and to do this, you need to infuse it with investiture, which is what Dawnshards are doing. Dawnshards are Divine Command, made out of investiture, so the divinity could happen - if you take that investiture away and use it for surge, Dawnshard will no longer be a Dawnshard. Again, can you take piece of spren and fuel Surges with it?
