I'm taking this test every year, Truthwatcher is always on top, followed by Skybreaker. My last result is here: I don't think I would be a good Windrunner tbf. Lightweaver would for sure fit me, I was surprised it wasn't in 3rd place. But both Truthwatcher and Skybreaker fit me well.

Grabby aliens, cool topic. I stumbled upon it on Rational Animations YT channel, he has several good videos about grabby aliens talking about it in more detail (and he uses cute dogs for aliens <3): Anti time? I'm not familiar with this term Tbf, we barely scratch the surface in the search of extraterrestrial life. So far we've discovered around 5000 exoplanets, most of them are gas giants. Compared to the low estimate of 100 billion exoplanets in our galaxy alone, we know nothing right now. It's like taking a glass of water from the ocean and concluding that there are no fish in the ocean at all. We might be hearing alien radio signals right now, but those might be filtered out as some galactic noise, because they're so quiet and don't fit our current models. Or radio signals for them are archaic technology, they might be using gravitational waves or particle entanglement for communication instead. We might be looking at exoplanets' atmosphere and missing some signs of life, because our detectors are too weak to pick up slight amounts of methane or other molecules signaling life, like Webb discovering sulfur dioxide for the first time showed us. Or our methods of looking for exoplanets are just not good enough, after all sun's ecliptic is at very high angle in relation to the galactic plane, most of the stars in the Milky Way won't be able to see Earth's transit in front of the Sun, therefore is fair to assume that we as well won't be able to see exoplanet's transits in most of the star systems in our galaxy. That's why I wouldn't dare to say "we're looking up there for alien life", we are just looking up right now, nothing more. But on the topic, we have no idea how life could evolve differently without carbon. We don't even know how carbon-based life began in the first place, what was needed, how Earth's environment was like back there, or if life even originated on Earth. How could we tell what silicon-based life would look like? What do they need to form? Or life based on non-water solvents like ammonia or methane? While you have a good point about non-carbon-based life, we have no idea what to look for in the case of those kinds of life. We can't even predict what to look for, as we can't even create in the lab that kind of life to know what they need and what they are producing. If we were to start to look for non-carbon-based life we would basically have to look everywhere, on every planet, as for them everywhere could be suitable. Or we just look for machine life instead.

He is a dragon, a very magical creature, he likely has Breaths (fabrics around the columns were moving without his verbal command, that's 10th Heightening), but most importantly, he grants boons, like Nightwatcher/Cultivation does, it's very likely that his magic can just do it without using Breaths and Awakening. His magic could provide him some Breath-like abilities allowing him to move fabrics around the columns like they were Awakened, create glasses, HEAL spore eaters, and know where a certain person is currently, so I see no reason why he can't make Awakened tablet with his dragon abilities, or his Breaths, that he could have get hundreds or thousands of years ago, and since they learn how to use them on his own. He never really had to visit Nalthis, he just needed people to give him their Breaths. Or if his dragon abilities allows him to do so, he could use any type of investiture to replicate other invested arts. They are worshiped as a gods, so they might be able to do stuff like that:

Yup, BoM ch 5 Spook was born in 1007 FE, Sazed Ascended in 1025 FE, Spook had 18 years when he became a Lord Mistborn and started his rule over Elendel. So he lived for at least 118 years, but we don't know when (or even if) he died.
-
Spook lived for at least 115 years. But the problem is, Mistborn are assassins, they live to fight, their work doesn't allow them to live that long. And they can't heal their wounds like Inquisitors can.

I think it might be the other way around. Imagine spiking yourself with a strong connection to Roshar, so your spirit believes you came from Roshar - and your body might change to look like Rosharan. Or with the identity of somebody else, and your body might change to look like that person, or worse, become a hybrid of both of you. These examples might be too severe for hemalurgic constructs to be true, they likely aren't, but messing with your spirit web is the best way to mess up your body, as your spirit web holds you spiritual ideal, to which your body is changing. Change your Connections, add a new one, or disrupt your identity, and you might end up with some disturbing changes to your body.

That's smart Me too, scary but so fun. The thought that they might be on their way to destroy us right now, because they received our Arecibo message is weirdly fascinating. That's the most logical to assume. To add more, I sometimes think that interstellar travel might be too hard (no FTL is possible) for any civilization to travel beyond their own star system and the possibility of nearby stars having also habitable planet with similar conditions is so low, that no civilization even created interstellar colonies. We are all trapped in our Solar System, never to venture out of it. I also like the Zoo hypothesis, but what I love the most is the von Neumann self-replicating probes. The limitless idea of a silent probe lurking in our Solar system, listening to us, waiting for us to cross the line we never even knew was there and then building a doomsday device to destroy us, while their creators are long time gone and all that's left of them are probes in every star system in the galaxy, causing extinction of every civilization in the galaxy, because they're all still waiting for the command to do something else, command that wasn't sent before their creators met their own extinction. Or the probe will see us crossing the line and then welcome us to busy galactic society.

Well: I like reading, hearing and watching (and thinking) about some cool facts and hypotheses about space and aliens, there is so much cool stuff that is out there, and so much more to discover. You mean teleportation that disassembles your body to create an identical copy of your body somewhere else, with the same memories, indistinguishable from your original self? That kept me awake for a few nights. So guys, what are your favorite solutions to the Fermi paradox?

Destroying planet Scardial would return its investiture to the SR, which would de-invest him from the whole system (as they mostly both invested it by creating the planet, rest of the star system was already there). Because Hemalurgy is a Cosmere wide art, which anyone can use it, everywhere, as long as they know how to, I think Ruin could easily move on with Inquisitors, and Hemalurgy would still be a thing, as it's might became a part of Cosmere, rather than just Scadrial. Yes, Hemalurgy came from interactions between the star system and Shards, but Ruin might have enough control over it (like Preservation switching basic metals) to tied it to the whole Cosmere, it might already be like this, as Ruin is everywhere, and he doesn't care where destruction is happening as long as it's happening. SA slight spoilers:

Using Hemalurgic Shenanigans to Make More Forgeries Viable
alder24 replied to Trusk'our's topic in Cosmere Discussion
I don't think so, like therunner said, your identity and connections are still the same. You only get a small piece of someone's soul, the best that could happen is give you a few minutes with his Soulstapms, but they won't work. Like with Gaotona, who tested Soulstamps for the emperor because he knew him well and had strong connection to him, the closer the stamps get to true emperor, the longer they stayed on Gaotona, but still at best they lasted only few minutes, similar thing would happen here - you get only few minutes with his Soulstamps. But it would work the other way around, if you spiked someone who uses a Soulstamp in that moment. Like if Moonlight uses her Soulstamp and becomes an Elantrian, you can spike Elantrianees out of her and give it to yourself instead via spike. Forger working with Hemalurgist can achieve so much more. You have a Misting as a donor? Forger will make a Soulstamp making him into full Mistborn and you can spike what you want out of him. -
While yes, during the events of WoA they could act on their own, keep in mind that Ruin was still talking to them and influencing their emotions, so all their actions were still driven by Ruin, which was clearly seen when Marsh attacked Sazed. Kel in SH, when trapped in the Well, noticed how much signals Ruin is sending to Inquisitors, and because of how many spikes they had, his influence over them would be way stronger than over Vin and Zane. Keep in mind that Obligators and Inquisitors didn't share too much knowledge between themself, while there might be many Obligators who were Mistings of those metals, Inquisitors didn't know that and couldn't find them. They knew those metals and Mistings exist, but didn't know who Mistings of those metals were, and because of the collapse of the Final Empire, they couldn't have tested it like they'd always been doing. Good point about F-gold. I often forget how healing can extend your lifetime, when there is F-Atium. Technically, there is no such thing as dying from old age, death from old age is due to (multi-)organ failure, with F-gold you can easily prolong your life by healing - you will still die eventually, but not as fast as normally. Well, destroying Scadrial would de-invest him from this system, and Inquisitors were only a small fraction of his power, who can just leave the system without any troubles.

Yes, they can sense tones of Roshar Allomantic pulses are closly related to Preservation, Rhythms on Roshar are related to Honor, Cultivation and Odium, but on Roshar they're manifesting in a specific way.
-
I think we've already had the answer to that, HoA ch 65: The wall in Marsh's mind, like the wall in Koloss and Kandra, was to strong for Allomancer to break in with duralumin. The wall isn't there because of Ruin, but because of the mind resisting control, strong mind that Inquisitors have is able to push control away. But that's not Ruin - We saw Ruin's control later, when Vin pushed on emotion with the power of Mists: Breath would be more invested than a single spike - breath is able to replace a soul in Lifeless, single spike carries only small piece of a soul.

Tress timeline indicates a large gap between Mistborn Eras 3 and 4
alder24 replied to Jozomby's topic in Cosmere Discussion
We know from SotD2 chapter: I do agree, this is the most likely explanation. There will be more Cosmere series, that now are unknown, before Mistborn era 4 will happen, so there will be stuff happening in those hundreds of years in between era 3 and 4, WoB: -
We don't know for sure, but It's unlikely he lost the bond. I support the theory that the seven-faced monster in Ulaam's drawer is Design.

Shallan's psychology: ready to dual-ascend?
alder24 replied to TeccamTheTurtle's question in Cosmere Q&A
Welcome to the Shard. I think she might be even worse choice for dual Shard Vessel, as only one of her personalities can be in control at any given moment, so if Veil was good Vessel for Odium, and Radiant is for Honor, they could not get in a proper state of mind to even Ascend to the dual Shard in a fist place, and holding it would be a nightmare, as soon as Veil is in control, Honor would slip out of her hands, maybe even leading to self Shattering. But if Shallan absorbs all her personalities, then she could be a dual Shard Vessel, as not she doesn't have that problem. Or maybe expansion of the mind that Vessel experiences when Ascending, would be enough for her personalities to merge into one, avoiding this problem. -
Why not? As Brandon said, he didn't explain why Inquisitors would get that spike. There is a way to reverse compounding, to fuel Allomancy with Feruchemy, and that might be the reason why Ruin gave inquisitors F-Atium spike. Why not give that spike to Marsh? Well, he is part of Kel's crew, he has connections to Vin and others, it would be extra gruesome to use him in contact with her and Elend just to scare them more, while other Inquisitors had different tasks to perform. Maybe after Scadrial had fallen, Ruin would send them into Cosmere as his agents. The last thing Rashek would want to do is for inquisitors to figure out compounding and the key to Rashek's power. He never gave them spikes with F-pewter or F-steel even though they would be very beneficial, he only gave them F-gold to heal, making sure they will never figure out compounding as long as he lives. Inquisitors would be the first to turn against him under Ruin's control when the Well would be full again (like we saw with Marsh). If they knew where Rashek's power came from, they would have a chance to rip his metalminds before he would Ascend again. There is no way Rashek would ever do something that threatening when he can just create new Inquisitors instead. Inquisitors lived longer because they were more invested than normal humans. Spikes invest them. How much longer likely has something to do with how strong their mind and soul is and how much damage they can withstand. Without Atium compounding you can't extend your life with F-Atium, especially with F-Atium granted by hemalurgy - you get older for an hour, you get younger for 50 minutes, but your lifespan doesn't change without compounding. Don't forget, Inquisitors aren't humans anymore, they're hemalurgic constructs, rules might be a bit different for them, and aging isn't as visible as normally.

Spoilers: Amphibia is a must watch! It's amazing, it's a sister show of the Owl House, developed as well by the people who worked on the Gravity Falls (you will see the similarities at some point). It's really good. I can as well recommend other shows like the Dragon Prince, Infinity Train (canceled but a good one) or Murder Drones from Glitch on YT (so good, maybe not for kids but not that much, only a bit violent).

Emotional Allomancy isn't mind control. Even with duralumin. At best you paralyzed them. Waiting is lame! We want to know now! Did you tell her that those spikes are hammered down into the bodies of the victim and recipient on a terrifying table? Math looks fun. Imperial units don't, but numbers do. Good job on estimating sizes of spikes! It's Pi nit Pie!!!! I interpret the WoB, that you can fit less than 1:1, because "It does not scale as logically as you think it does" There are 200-300 known bind points, but I think their purpose would change if you have an intent to grant several different powers in a single spike. You would definitely find a fitting binding point.

Welcome to the Shard. Cosmere nomads? You mean Iriali? They are wandering between planets, currently settled on Roshar. They will be very important during space era Cosmere, like Sleepless. There are lots of Cosmere aware people, most of them are simple traders and worldhopper, not associated with any organization (like Felt). Ire is another worldhopping group. Hoid has his own Cosmere-aware Worldsingers. There is a city in the Cognitive Realm, Silverlight, with several universities full of scholars, one founded by Khriss. Not to mention others like the Five Scholars, Sleepless, Kandra, Dragons etc. The more Cosmere-aware books become, the more different groups we will see. Right now we just barely started to see them in books. Secret Project 4 spoilers: Because both Iriali and Sleepless will be a big part of the space era, they will likely be involved in the very end of Cosmere story, and likely other groups like Ghostbloods and Ire will also be important during that time.

Glys. He forms Radiant bond but is corrupted with Odium's investiture. That's not a mistake or a slip, that's Glys and other enlightened spren. Yes, but we're not talking about pre-Shattering Roshar, nor about Seons and Skaze, who are spren as well. We're talking about modern times, where most spren are of Honor and Cultivation. Those primal spren were changed/evolved/invested/cultivated by Honor and Cultivation in those 10000 years. Just like Highstorm predates the Shattering but now are almost exclusively out of Honor, so does primal spren.

Welcome to the Shard! Kaladin's situation with Syl was a bit different, because he didn't fully break his Oaths, but was very close to it. Shallan did it fully. Shallan can help her, it's very likely that if she reswear her Oaths, Testament will be fully back (which isn't possible for normal Deadeye, as their original Knights are dead, Shallan is alive). And Shallan is already in process of reconstructing her Oaths, I believe "I'm terrified" spoken in WoK was one of Oaths resweared. And yes, it's possible to bond multiple spren If you want to read some theories about Shallan's Truths with Testament and her recreating the bond, I will shamelessly promote my own here - https://www.17thshard.com/forum/topic/117629-shallans-true-truths-row/

Could an Inquisitor Be Controlled Like a Kandra or Koloss?
alder24 replied to Longshot97's question in Cosmere Q&A
Hard to say, once Brandon said he used hemalurgy in a way that makes me think he had a spike, but later Brandon can't remember if Rashek had a spike.
