  1. Update: I have received the green light to post the audio. I'm working on the transcription and audio editing (to remove the long bits of silence at the beggining). Most of the audio is ok, although apparently the first few minutes didn't record audio available here Personal thoughts: Kinetic investiture: thats a new term that I haven't yet seen. I will need to look into it, but it sounds like potential vs. kinetic investiture meaning that due to position (in the cognitive/spiritual realms?) you can store investiture. It would also seem that kinetic investiture would be more like storm light, and potential investiture is more like breath. I previously was unsure if all souls were made of investiture. does this mean everything in the spirit realm is just investiture?
  2. It really depends on the nature of harmonium itself. Harmonium what allows the "allomantic grenade" to store investiture, so it depends on what investitures it can store.
  3. Could one theoretically as a rithmatist use enough chalk on a chalking to make a 3d object? similar to how a 3d printer can make 3d out of a series of layers? Would that work or would it just collapse?
  4. WoB: what does a radiant wear to a party? A vest. He loves to be invested. why can't Wayne wield the bands of mourning? He sleeps in. whats dalinar's favorite joke? Elohkar. how do you ruin a good joke? Take his wit away. Then the king is witless. What do you call what do you call a sanderson fan's sanity? Dead.
  5. My network blocks chat rooms, and I'm sure someone else is in the same boat.
  6. I specifically asked Brandon about zinc compounding starvation, and he said it wasn't enough to cause any problems.
  7. I remember a WoB about F gold being able to heal hemalurgic damage. I also personally believe that the placebo efffect would work extreamly well on returned (and possibly their descendants)
  8. I looked around the coppermind, and haven't found anything. When you can, try making an article about it.
  9. We have at least one example of that pool being used for world hoping, so not impossible, although I need to check time lines.
  10. Do we have evidence that other extreme compounding would kill you? Weight protects you from crushing yourself. It seems like the protection would scale with the power. So even at rediculous weight (e.g. Planet) wouldn't you still be protected? Also with zinc compounding (mental speed) eventually blood in your brain would move at relativistic speeds. Would that literally fry your brain? Or does the power also make your brain able to handle it. At that point of speed you would probably have along while to contemplate your death, and maybe even feel your brain shutting down (though it probably wouldn't be painful unless it broke your skull)
  11. What happens when an acendant respawns in the place another piece currently occupies?
  12. I got started by looking up any unfamiliar terms in the coppermind, threre are a lot of good people on thee making it simple. I personally think we should add basic summary for terms at least. For now, here is a list of so,what disorganized, but basic terms to know: @Chaos I know you spiked this post already, so feel free to change anything I mess up. basic fandom terms: Canon: (n) this term can be confusing outsiders, as we seem to give great importance to making all of our theories basically out of an instrument of war. But essentially anything that is officially truth and part of the author's universe is cannon. Examples: allomancy is cannnon. Nightblood being created from a spren is not cannon (although it's an interesting theory.) Rafo: (v) read and find out Cards are actually given out by Brandon. I don't have one personally, but I have seen them. This was Robert Jordan's, which Brandon inherited/stole/borrowed/sold his soul for depending on who you ask and how many spikes they have been given*. Other authors have different terms for this. WoB: word of Brandon. Basically always needs a link to an interview database, or some other confirmed Brandon source. this is the final end all be all. That being said Brandon loves to wiggle out of questions and misdirect with answers that are only technically correct. Cosmere terms: cosmere: includes most of Brandon's works, or refers the dwarf galaxy in which the books are set in. Books in the cosmere include warbreaker (WB), set on Nalthus I think... mistborn (MB), era 1 of mistborn includes: the final empire (FE), the well of ascensions (WoA), and The Hero of Ages (HoA). Era 2 includes the books The alloy of law (AoL), shadows of self (SoS). the Bands of Mourning (BaM) and one unpublished book that will be released within the next ten years. There is a planned third era as well, with no published books. Set on scadrial The storm light archive. Planned to be ten books long, this is the epic series. Currently includes the way of kings (Wok), and words of radiance (WoR). Another book is coming soon, I believe it's called oathbringer (OB?) set on roshar Elantris. Brandon's earliest work, set on sel. Book 2 is planned, but not yet written. there are also a bunch of short stories. You can look those up sometime. Most are found in arcanum unbounded (AU). The stories are set all over the cosmere Investiture: basically the energy that powers the magic in the cosmere. Kinetic investiture and I assume potential investiture. Follows the law of conservation of energy... as far as we know. Shards: basically there was once a force/person/God/or something called adonalsium which was split during the shattering into 16 Pieces, which were taken up by 16 people. Each shard has a name (aka a mandate) that reflects what the are trying to do. Examples are preservation, ruin, honor, odium, cultivation, ambition etc. Shardcast: some of Brandon's biggest fans occasionally discuss things on a podcast. And occasionally get distracted. The people who make and run this site are included here. Shattering: when adonalsium was split into 16 pieces. Lots of theories about how this happend. Theories: any interesting (or not interesting, we aren't discriminating here until we pick it apart and shatter your hopes and dreams with corrections) ideas or questions you have about Brandon's works. Feel free to try to get your theory discussion on track, I wish you luck. By the way have you heard about spiking posts. It's a really interesting practice. Here have a cookie. Splintering: shattering a shard (not quite correct, but close enough. World hoopers: people who go between worlds and books (e.g. Hoid) Reputation/upvotes: when you think someone has made a thoughtful/valuable/ important comment to a subject, or if someone said something funny enough. Lots of us like getting these. Hint hint nudge nudge wink wink spike spike. Downvotes: if someone disobeys rules, then maybe give these, no one likes these. *(you know someone is spiked when the pretend the moderators and Brandon have souls and are not in fact trying to take over the world. For saying this in public I will probably be burned at the stake or killed by gratuitous paper cuts and salt whilst on an altar made of outdated encyclopedias.)
  13. Yeah That would be more useful for the coppermind
  14. Offline use is the only thing I can think of.
  15. I apologize for thread necroing, but my dad got a Mac mini, and to save space, wanted to Velcro it to the bottom of the desk upside down. Velcro. upside down. It lasted for about a day, fell and the hard drive, airport card and ram shattered. He still hasn't replaced the whole thing, just some of the parts. It's slower then a raspberri pi trying to run adobe aftereffects.
  16. From what I understand, lines of warding don't interfere with each other. Why not just do one eclipse perpendicular to the other with lines of forbidance at the new cross point for way more strength. I do think both methods would take more time, and if any circle you are standing in is breached, you are out. Both methods would be harder to keen against, and both would be strong against lines of vigor and would have a lot of defensive chalkling bind points.... strong once it gets up, but it would probably take too long even though they are new strategies and people would try some basic fast chalklings to win. If you were teaming up with someone, in a separate circle, they would probably have to go with the quick elipse to shatter any offensive rushes. After that the second person could then transfer into a double elipse.
  17. I've always thought it was the central nerve needing to be cut as that makes the logical limb "core"
  18. I'd agree with the nicroburating, but if you had someone else compounding while you coumpounded nicrosil... that would be interesting. I wounder if you could give them more power total then they could when they burn it.
  19. Thanks much. I run the scouttrax.org server and I totally understand budgeting issues When you run a site that doesn't charge. I'm on an iPad from 2012, and Dropbox is normally my go to, but I filled mine up. Google drive is sooo laggy that I'm running at less than a frame per second. No idea why. Sound cloud is something I'm working on signing up for, but it might be a few days as I have a big theatre preformance coming up and most of my time is taken up by rehearsal. Onedrive and I are having technical issues because my account was only partially set up when our power went out, and now my account exists but is inaccessible. Still working on it. I'm looking into some others, but haven't had time to properly vet them.
  20. I asked @Chaos about it, but I'm still waiting for a reply. Between an unfortunate lightning induced power surge on our street and a computer virus, I haven't been able to do it till today. Thank heaven for ipads. The audio is still safe, but until I receive the go ahead from someone, I'm not going to post any more about what I learned. Just in case. Thanks for your patience. P
  21. Using the first Sanderson law of magic, it could influence the mages ability to magic in the first place if the try to take control... maybe people making some sort of connection to your identity when they learn about you that grants them access to some of your power or something, so while quiet manipulation is still an option, being in the public eye can disable your magic, or worse let others control you or something. or the magic can only be used by someone who doesn't have certain personality traits that would let them rule publicly. Maybe it makes them all shy when around non mages, or possibly the magic itself erases memories associated with mages by non mages.
