  1. What if instead both shards are in both systems. All those who become elantrians seem to be devoted to something. Raoden to the people, (or devoted dominion over the people) kayrita to her family, etc. In fact what if connection to both devotion and domonion is what makes one a "more powerful" elantrian, more connected to the dor?
  2. I can see having a lot of connection being able to make people worship you.... or at least respect you a lot and obey orders fairly consistently, but connection might do other things.... according to mistborn book 1 , the lord ruler has a perfect memory, which I assume is due to compounding copper.
  3. Also, just to make sure I understand the original theory, you are suggesting something like how there are the groups of four metals (physical, mental, temporal, etc.) that there are groups of shards like this?
  4. I need to find the quote, but I know it is possible to reassemble a shard. Difficult, but possible.
  5. I'm pretty sure we have a WoB that odium hates himself. Preservation did try to preserve himself... he just wasn't successful. And in a way, ruin did ruin himself. As ati was a good person before taking up the shard, he was ruined, becoming the advocate of destroying everything (something most good people would disagree with) NounEdit odium n ‎(genitive odiī); a hated thing hatred
  6. I can see spook as an edge dancer, serene as an else caller, and hrathen as a windrunner (he came to save them)
  7. Interesting theory. Are you saying honor used hemelurgy on himself? also, how then could the Soren mimic what he did? Did they themselves steal parts of honor and cultivations spirit web?
  8. Note that hatred can include self hatred, and odium backstabbing himself and blaming honor would be a very interesting twist
  9. I don't remember where, but in some quote somewhere Brandon confirms that using any investiture... changes you in some way.
  10. The oath pact has something to do with odiums binding, also since odium is basically investiture, then you couldn't really invest him... Brandon has confirmed that using investiture on investiture is problematic (for example, you can't lash shard plate.)
  11. See http://www.theoryland.com/intvmain.php?i=1181
  12. If the coin shot pushes on the bits of metal the edge dancer has, then steel wins hands down. In addition, acording to mistborn book 1, there is no upper limit to how much speed a ferring could use at once if they have the ammount of speed stored. For a compounder, this wouldn't be a problem. Add to that that they can more or less fly, and investiture makes you immune to downsides that a regular person would experience if doing the same thing, so long as they are still using it, (atium brain enhancements, pewter making it so you don't fall on your face, etc etc.) edit: I did find a quote from Brandon that indicates friction would eventually burn a steel compounder up
  13. I do, since the metals themselves do different things
  14. In response to 1. https://www.tor.com/2016/02/05/brandon-sanderson-answers-your-audible-live-chat-questions/ Question: Is the metal on Scadrial specially invested? Can an Allomancer use metals from other planets? Brandon: Metal is a key, not the source of power itself. Most is not specially invested. It glows because of the power seeking to come through it, not because of the power within it. this means that metal on non invested planets can be burned. There are other quotes to support it. This also means that the shard doesn't need to be around for its metal to be burned, thus if one were on roan are, atrium would still work. In response to 2 . The new God metal can steal multiple properties, where areas atium can steal any one ability. But even so, something having similar hemelurgic properties, doesn't indicate anything of its allomantic abilities. in response to 3: im talking about the equivalent of harmonium for other shard combinations. E.g. Dominion and devotion combined to make Unity, would have it's own metal separate from its individual shard metals, and so it's not an alloy (in the normal sense) it's essentially a new shard metal from a new shard. finnaly, that could be metals available on scadrial, not including other planets. Millions of powers allomantically grants each bit of the powers of creation, I would assume, and that could explain why some of the known powers seem more random. sorry if that doesn't make sense, I'm terrible at typing
  15. I need to find the quote on this, but for the person who said aluminum was useless to a misting, they can also prevent other forms of investiture from effecting them (for example they could stop lashings from windrunners from effecting them). Having calculated out the possibilities of every God metal combination and the resulting alloys with the basic metals, we get well over a million possibilities (1,048,576)
  16. Is this correct: Every shard can combine with the regular 16 metals to form 16 new alomantic alloys plus every shard combination because harmony and harmonium then there are a total 1,048,576 possible alomantic metals and powers if all sixteen shards and their combinations are used. This includes the known god metals. this is based on the facts that: It has been confirmed by Brandon that what ruin is to atium, Honor is to shardblades Based on the formula File:Https://www.mathsisfun.com/combinatorics/images/cn.svg Where N is the number of shards and are can equal any whole number between 1 and 16 (sixteen shards) plus the additional non god metals as one more combination, the following determines the maximum number of allomantic alloys (65535 + 1) * 16 = 1,048,576 support for this theory http://www.theoryland.com/intvmain.php?i=692#28
