  1. All indications are that the Sibling is whole but 'asleep'. The Stormfather withholds information on the Sibling from Dalinar as humans have already damaged it enough. I think one of the urithiru gems refers to the Sibling sleeping. the Sibling was also active well into the time the unmade were active. And this seems to strongly indicate that. But good lateral thinking. And you never need to apologise for theorizing or asking questions even if something has been raised before
  2. Taln finding out he's in hell alone. That's it. That's the reason I'm reading 12000 pages. Since the first 25 pages of Way of Kings. That's the reason. Always Taln.
  3. Ah my eyes will finally be protected from square brackets, which are an abomination and undoubtedly of Ruin.
  4. I think it's simply a reference to seeing the future being very dangerous as it draws upon a Shard and on Roshar the Shard giving future sight on Roshar is typically Odium. But there could be some more specific connection with Ashynite humans.
  5. Actually i think from this that there's a lower limit to what it will pick up. And shallan's lightweaving into Veil was not sufficient. It may have picked up her turning into Veil but not maintaining the illusion.
  6. Yeah fair I was assuming the OP meant major shardworld but a shardworld may well be every planet created by adonalsium or a shard. But just to clarify a major shardworld has a shard present or has had in the past and remains sufficiently invested (and with a sufficient level of investiture available to its magic system). Threnody got showered in Shardcorpse and FotS got a sapient Shardisland but they're still minor because there is both no shard present and insufficient investment. I would love for the Mystery Project to be a new minor shardworld. A natural magic system we've heard nothing about. That Autonomy still manages to mess with and Hoid still manages to steal from
  7. That's... I'm in danger of really liking this idea.
  8. We still haven't seen the Ashyn other than a reading, but we will if he ever does The Silence Divine. Obrodai is a shardworld but who knows if we'll see it (or if we have already). The world that Aether of Night is set on is a shardworld, we haven't seen a canon version of it but we may get to meet a person from it in Nightblood iirc. We'll get to see Yolen in maybe a decade in Dragonsteel. And of course we've already seen Sel, Nalthis, Scadrial, Taldain and Roshar. Maybe one of the remaining two will be in the Secret Project he's currently working on Did I miss any? Oh Braize. I missed Braize And maybe Vax as people get Initiated into a magic system there. Edit 2 - @Nathrangking Threnody and First of the Sun aren't Shardworlds (or at least are only Minor Shardworlds). But yeah there are more of those I'm sure.
  9. I love it. I'm not sure that it's right, but I can't think offhand of a particular problem with it, other than that I suspect the Sibling was around before humanity was particularly united. It could be possible though that the Heralds uniting humanity gave rise to that. Irrespective of that I love the concept. I actually think its more likely to be the Singers thinking about themselves than humans (hence Sibling of humans), if you're right. Makes for a cool idea though, nice post.
  10. I'm glad to hear it I put stuff like that together when reviewing WoBs but try to post it in case others can benefit. I'm delighted you can. I put together another in the past specifically on Roshar but WAY more detailed if you want to check it out. (Ignore the terrible theory which was totally wrong but the WoB archive is useful) Happy researching mate
  11. I can shamelessly say I put together a pretty comprehensive list of the best WoBs from the last 14 months, so doesn't capture older ones but you may find it more useful than browsing through events or searching. It was exactly the purpose for me making it. Enjoy
  12. I agree with Shara but it does link into my idea that the Shattering involved 'injecting' something into adonalsium that broke it in half, with power continuing to be injected until it broke in half again, and again, and again, leaving 16 components. Basically like fission. Never have been able to propose each division to come up with the shards we know.
  13. If you've read everything but WS2 you can safely use the forums spoilers will abound but very little for White Sand. Two ways to do it, one is to just regularly look at the entire site feed which includes all book topics as well as role playing and non-Brandon discussion, the other is to click on the forums link and browse each book forum, or cosmere discussion for Cosmere-wide spoilers, and engage when you want. Never be afraid to post a theory, question or idea, people are very friendly here, and don't be embarrassed if you get corrected, we're all about the search for fictional truth here The other big key if you haven't used it is wob.coppermind.net, our glorious database of Words of Brandon (Arcanum). If you have any questions or theories you can always post but you can also search Arcanum for times Brandon may have given the answer. Look forward to seeing you around
  14. Yeah i like this theory, it's a good one to come up with just from reading, even though those who obsessively read Words of Brandon know it's not the case. The numbers seem, like focuses, to be based on the shard interacting with the planet. The Rosharan system was clearly 10-centric prior to the Shards moving there as it has 10 planets. Odium was involved in Ashyn but I don't think he invested there, which is why Braize has a different number I guess. Still its always been a bit odd to me. I suspect Brandon just wanted us to call them The Nine We know that the Herald analog doesn't extend to Bondsmiths.
  15. For what it's worth I was also sold by the yata conversation last year and I think the Spiritual independence of hemalurgy makes it different from the others.
  16. I'm inclined to think they're either Nahel-bond spren from each 'order' except bondsmiths or they're extremely strong magic users from Ashyn. I'm not sure the timing fits on the first as I'm sure the Unmade were already around when the Nahrl bonding started though could still be superspren. The second works better with timing but because of that Taravangian quote i doubt it somewhat. And the Listener gods I think were definitely only the Fused. That poem can equally describe the fused as a cognitive shadow could be described as a splinter of a soul.
  17. Cool video @ReadAndFindOut. Nice production value. I haven't seen what I assume is a series of them, I'll have to check it out. My opinion on the Ones Above is that it may well be Scadrians but that its nowhere near as certain as a lot of people think. I think by that time there will be hacks for most or all magic systems that allow them to readily use investiture anywhere in the Cosmere. I also feel like its so far we can't extrapolate from *current* technology who will have those kinds of devices (though they do remind me more of Roshar or the IRE's device than of Scadrial. And I like the herdazian food WoB but as we know that Sixth will probably worldhop he could have easily tasted it in Shadesmar or actually on Roshar. So yeah I actually think Roshar is almost as likely as Scadrial and I do rebel against the assumption that it is Scadrians. I also think its actually a Silverlight delegation of mixed nationalities, or perhaps a worldhopping group like the Seventeenth Shard. But my biggest thing is that it is way more uncertain than many think, most of the arguments for Scadrial I think are unlikely to apply by that era.
  18. Yeah agreed. I have wavered a bit on this one but I'm pretty sure the fused magic is just a hack to use odium's investiture to power surgebinding. Voidbinding is an actual magic system created through odium's investment. I've gone back and forth on what voidbinding could be. Referring to it as a cousin of the old magic is the but that really throws it off. Since OB and the voidbringer revelation I've wanted it to be Ashyn surgebinding but i can't see how that could be a cousin of a cultivation magic. Because of that reference I'm inclined to think that voidbinding is actually a system created by the combination of odium's and cultivation's investment. But i have no good ideas on its manifestation. Nor really much helpful to add now i read back over this largely pointless post
  19. It's a fairer question than you think. But you don't need to be unique. Like many things in the cosmere there is still intent involved
  20. Kelsier find cognitive realm plants when he's in the ocean iirc but i think the plants near the fortress are Selish as Kel refers to the IRE speaking in the language of the plants. Perhaps brought there from the physical realm? I feel like if the plants are connected to Sel or Elantris they're not plants that have naturally appeared in scadrian space. Or maybe they have be cause of the amount of Selish investiture there. As for those formations, no idea. Only thought I've had is some weird spillover from there being a bunch of investiture there, but really no idea.
  21. It's more like in the physical realm you are visibly seeing the person's soul merging with investiture, and since that investiture is associated with certain matter (the matter the soulcaster is turning stuff into) you see that matter.
