  1. Thank you for the thanks. I was nowhere the contributor to Arcanum that some were, particularly Argent, and it would be nothing without Weiry, who created and populated the vast majority of it, and Mestiv who spent much of his year coding it (both of whom have my endless thanks). But I'm delighted you're enjoying it here and that you appreciate Arcanum
  2. Hey @Herowannabe it will probably only be from a week's time ill be able to play, I'm winding down my holidays and need to get things done before real life hits. I'm certainly good with bring a spymaster (I've played a lot) though don't need to be. But I'll need some time. If you get numbers to start you should do so and i can join subsequent games
  3. Same here @The One Who Connects. I always enjoyed our mutual WoBbing when I was more active here. I hope one day we'll see you on Discord, where I tend to be parked now!
  4. Hmmm thanks Shara. But does unpublished allow full cosmere non-OB spoilers? If so I'd appreciate if a mod can move it?
  5. So a tasty WoB was just posted on Reddit. Thanks to Pagerunner for posting it in Discord. Thought I'd make a quick thread as it's fascinating. The request was for a personalization that hints at Hoid's quest. The WoB was "To make that which once was". Obviously that gives some weight to the theory that hoid is trying too reassemble Adonalsium. Another option is to effectively reunite Yolen, after it's division by fain life. There is the WoB in response to a request for a dedication from a resident of Yolen, "May two worlds become one to you" (which does not mean realms). So is Hoid trying to reassemble Adonalsium? Is his real goal simply to reunite Yolen? Any other theories? Over to you boys and girls.
  6. that's very disappointing striker, I've been very fond of you and always enjoyed your enthusiasm. I hope you can stay immersed in the cosmere, i hope we will see you again and I wish you the very best!
  7. It's been glorious my friend Thank you for adding to this place a great deal of rigor, a great deal of humor, a range of new theories and a delicious dose of bitterness I look forward to another year of it!
  8. Eyes are said to be a window to the soul. I think on Roshar this is literal. I think somehow the color and brightness of rosharan eyes actually reflect investiture in a person's spirit web, both amount and type, and that eye color and brightness is passed down hereditarilly because a person's spirit web reflects the type of investiture in their parents' spirit webs. Possibly because the realms there are closer to each other than on other planets.
  9. magnificent. I'd put this on my wall
  10. Today marks my one year Shardversary! I want to thank everyone here for not just making a wonderful, friendly, welcoming and intellectually remarkable community. Discovering Sanderson changed my life but it could  have never been as significant without this community! I've learned things about the cosmere i could never have discovered alone. I've had wonderfully times theorizing. But more than that I've found my people, the only online community I could need.

From finally joining and wanting to be a WoB Master, being the most prolific poster of the first few months of the year, to almost never posting now due to time constraints and spending most of that time on Discord, to having the honor and privilege to help establish Arcanum (one of the single greatest innovations this community has done - of which I was a regretfully tiny part), its been just an amazing part of my life and will remain so for a very long time.

I want to particularly thank @Chaos for the incredible work he does here, serving and building this community and never thinking he's done enough. I want to thank all the admins and mods but there are too many, you know I love you, so I'll single out again @WeiryWriter and @Mestiv for their unbelievable work on Arcanum. And of course I want to thank my man @Calderis for the early months we spent theorizing together and basically mirroring each other through our cosmere journey (until he went mad and posted at 10 times my rate :')). This place wouldn't have been quite the same without you Cal. And for those who don't know, it is also his Shardversary :)

Bless all of you, I'll try to be a more regular contributor again.

    Dance with the wind.

    1. Calderis

      Calderis

I feel the same, man. I wouldn't have been the machine I have been if our early exchanges didn't fuel my insane need to know more WoBs and dig that much harder. This place is the best, not only because of the content it's driven  you, but the people who drive it.

    2. StrikerEZ

      StrikerEZ

Hey, thanks for reminding me about my Shardversary! (Which I'm late to, whoops)

      Also, I'll always ship Caldesian/Extederis.

Wait wait wait wait wait @StrikerEZ. You have the same storming shardversary? Booyah. Always knew I loved you bro. Happy shardversary! And yeah assuming we're not the same person, we are a pretty dynamite couple

  11. Ah yeah makes sense, the only game here I've played is cards against cosmere which is 'live' but you're quite right. I'll get involved once the silly season is over
  12. I won't have the chance to play this for a bit (if at all especially given the timezone I'm in) but I want to thank you for it - codenames is utter genius and the best board game since cards against humanity (and I might add its from a Czech) and I love that you're cosmerifying it!! Glorious. Once my family holiday is over I'll see if I can get involved. I encourage others to do this, or at least try codenames generally!
  13. This is a wonderful post. I didn't even notice it until Windy commented (as a theory that Windy likes is a theory worth reading). A few observations and questions to pose. Would the reason gemhearts seem to remain where they are in Akinah not simply be because the storms virtually die out by then? I personally suspect that gemhearts, given time, would break back down into stormlight because investiture on roshar naturally cycles, it doesn't stick like something like breath. So i figure the way it returns to the system outs by simply breaking down. Could this relate to Origin and/or the reason Akinah is particularly important, that gemstones keep moving west until the accumulate towards Akinah and that the gemstones breaking down into gaseous investiture accumulates to the West of Akinah, creating a large source of investiture that a highstorm sucks up as it passes over the ocean? Maybe meaningless thoughts but i had to try add something to a theory that is very cool.
  14. Given elsecallers are somewhat Machiavellian, I think one oath will be something like "I will act for the greater good, even at the expense of the few".
  15. Brandon mentioned this in the recent Oathbringer beta reader AMA on reddit The question about heightenings is presumably because getting enough breath to reach the 5th heightening is the easiest way to obtain functional immortality in the Cosmere and many worldhoppers probably have it.
  16. This is a fair thought that I've had before but unfortunately Brandon seems to have been quite decisive about this

    Harmony's Source

I think its simply that Shards have access to enormous knowledge through Connection but the Vessels do not have minds capable of understanding it all, they don't just suddenly know everything they can know. I picture it as taking a huge amount of time for the Vessel to explore those Connections to understand what it all means.
  18. Oh nice. I just had some great friends move up there recently. My partner refers to Brandon Sanderson as my mistress :') you'll find a nice home here
  19. Great questions @JoyBlu! Thanks for getting the rafo on connecting the iriali with nalthis I've been obsessed with that for some time. Also on the aviar.
  20. What city are you in? I'm Canberra, though perth originally. I'm glad you did the safe thing and only joined once you read it all
  21. I love the first explanation. Much like burning atium messing with another person's atium shadows.
  22. Welcome! Always good to have another Aussie here. There's quite a few of us
  23. Luckily we Sharders would never nitpick
  24. I downloaded it this morning for my 10 hour journey. Listening while finally rereading OB. I will only listen to this for my entire reread
  25. Dunno if its been said but Tolkien. The Silmarillion is his greatest work by far and if he lived to complete it himself it would've been even better.
