  1. From the end of Bands of Mourning The Set is broader and more interfering-Shardy than the characters we know
  2. I think this is beautifully put together. And yeah that WoB is a cracker. I wasn't sharding much then so i didn't see reactions but i loved it when it was first released. I love how you tied it altogether. The theory went around a bit before Oathbringer (I feel like someone, maybe Feather, proposed it before I joined the Shard), But you brought in some connections I hadn't thought of. But
  3. When cal can't find a WoB I know I've been summoned personally i think endowment intervened and super charged NB with investiture and the corruption is the internal corruption of the command conflicting with the intent, rather than a mixing of shards. I'm not super wedded to that though
  4. I did it. #retrospectivetruth Though now I've abandoned my non-Sharding discipline I find myself unable to crawl back in my hole. Boy I've missed it. Guess I'll be active again until my personal life suffers sufficiently
  5. This is a really interesting observation I've never seen made (though I've been pretty inactive the last 9 months). Investiture is often described as like light shining out from the spiritual realm, through the cognitive and into the physical realm. Its very believable that the name adonalsium was carried down into the development of Rosharan language to make adoda (the symmetrical version of ado) mean light. I like it.
  6. IInterlude 1, WoR My understanding is they are able to use the stormlight to facilitate plant growth.
  7. And for what little it's worth we know this. So for some to be there but not the group, the group must be a certain size. And we've seen quite a few in pretty disperse locations.
  8. @Ishar @Undead Wookiee the mists were snapping people to make allomancers to fight Ruin. Preservation actually swapped out aluminum for atium so it could be burned, to put it simply
  9. There's a few mentioned here The other one that immediately comes to mind is this
  10. Unfortunately not. Even more unfortunately (as I love him) it seems he's just there for worldbuilding and fun rather than as a significant character one day.
  11. Here's the WoB you're both referring to.
  12. Normal hemalurgic spikes don't steal a piece of Preservation, they steal the innate investiture (the part of the spiritweb) that grants the ability. It's blessings that steal a piece of Preservation.
  13. My latest half baked theory is that Hoid and the other 16 found a way to use fain life (or at least a magic associated with it) to stop themselves from ageing and to destabilise Adonalsium's investiture. Something vaguely to the effect of fain life being anti-life, and by using it they both countered their own ageing and also broke down the bonds (so to speak) that bound adonalsium's investiture together. Based flimsily on this. Btw in compiling a list of my favorite WoBs from the last year here i included a few lovely Hoid ones. Copied below in case it prompts theories.
  14. I've been a largely absent Sharder but I will always keep up with my WoBs. So for my 2000th post here are my favorite WoBs since my 1000th post, around one year ago. Loosely categorized, for your reading pleasure. Spoilered for ridiculous length. FULL Cosmere spoilers, obviously. Shards, the Realms and Investiture Magic systems In-world history, peoples and events Characters
  15. Oh i remembering you mentioning that a while back and it becoming my head canon. Coz there's no outlet to the physical realm investiture isn't ready to flow through.
  16. Simplifying it yeah, it removes kinetic investiture and specifically converts metals to something unusable, it doesn't remove innate investiture. For example i don't believe using it on a Nalthian would remove their Breath.
  17. Yeah its a good catch. The answer is simply that the power is ready to push out through the metal, a little reminiscent of aons. In the case of Nazh's knife that has been rafo'd but I'm guessing its made of metal that is not one of the metals the metallic arts can use, therefore the power isn't seeking to come through it.
  18. Peter F Hamilton, Night's Dawn Trilogy. Ooooh boy is it good. Epic sci fi, set in the 2600's. So very good. Very dense read, takes me about 5 times as long to read as Brandon. Will take 500 pages to get it but I highly recommend.
  19. Captive of honor Cognitive Shadow Crazy Voidbringer? Edit - lol thought it was 17 characters. Hmmm Captive of oath? Cognitive shade? Cultivation's? Ok i got nothing
  20. Mine is a slice of the Mandelbrot set, a mathematical function related to the Julia set, a slice of which the continent of Roshar was based on. Or something similar, I'm no mathemage. Mainly fractals are rad.
  21. I've been tagged in a few creative endeavors lately, my time is very limited unfortunately so while I appreciate the appreciation, it can be hard for me, for which I feel bad. But given our longstanding history I owed you a quick read. I want to read more. That says it all.
