  1. Some thoughts, i haven't looked at the posts but want to do a dump before i sleep Very palantir like. Is Odium actually riding the Storm? A voidish version of the Strormfather? Either way it seems he can get into Dalinar's head. Could the champion vision have been Odium's doing rather than something in Tanavast's vision? Looks like we know more about shshsh's death, and looks like the theories of Dalinar killing her probably aren't right. Of course anything could've happened. More evidence that nahel-bond spren do it to get something out of it, that using oaths to forge a bond is related to sapience. Millenia. So it has been at least 2000 years since the Recreance. Ok millenia could mean less. But seems to firm up the Recreance as being very old indeed? Aunt? Could it be cultivation? But then strange to refer to her as an honorspren. The previous version of this said relative instead of aunt. And are gloomspren 'normal' spren then or perhaps something more significant? Perhaps related to the feeling pig gloom yay Dalinar got from the everStorm, the thing that was new to the Stormfather? Perhaps an unmade or simply a gloom that Odium puts on the world? Very interesting. Syl being connected (Connected?) to Honor lets her have memories of things that occurred before she became sentient. Would any honorspren have memories of other radiants or would it just be of their own? And... the voice of Cultivation?? Could honorspren also be partly of Cultivation? Or is Cultivation intervening in Roshar actively now, through the spren? If so I believe that's the first time we've 'encountered' Cultivation? But i may be misunderstanding. There's my brain dump, I'll see the theories in the morning!
  2. You know what makes me excited? Parts. Of. Dragonsteel.
  3. Huh that is quite a few Mistborn. I was briefly jealous then realized I'm a Rambleman, definitely one of the greatest ranks. Imma start trading Mistborn I think.
  4. Ha so am I! First other Sharder I've met that lives in Canberra. Even if it isn't technically right.
  5. Coppermind is like wikipedia. Very useful for finding summaries and some references (especially textual references) but it shouldn't be used as a primary source, quoting the coppermind isn't really legitimate. But as a secondary source to find primary sources it's good, and it's brilliant for book references which are much harder to search for than WoBs. I love the coppermind but it shouldn't be a primary source And welcome back @FiveLate! Good to see you again bro
  6. The hunt for Vivenna is over!
  7. Note that I researched this and started this post before The Chapters. So I'll keep this shorter than I'd like. As I said on Discord, I think it's a good observation. There is very little on Skaze and not much on the black sphere. Same with the specific topic of Nightblood's black smoke. And I'll add in one that's just as tenuous, Shades. So firstly, on the black sphere, we have this extra information from the Oathbringer prologue, which I assume I can spoiler here. I read through the relevant parts of Warbreaker and Shadows for Silence. Here's an interesting part with Warbreaker It doesn't seem anywhere that the light is sucked into the smoke, it's just black. But I still think there could be a link with black meaning corrupted investiture. Whether corrupted means mixed Shards or investiture that has become unusable (or the waste product of nighblood eating investiture) I don't know. With Threnody, the Shades go from bright to black when they're enraged. I was going through thoughts about this being stepping from Ambitions investiture to Odium's (as the battle between the Shards surely didn't only hurt Ambition) but I have nothing to really propose. The Shades eyes also go from green when they're alert to red when they're enraged. Again could be different Shards investiture but seems tenuous. So what I'm saying is I've got nothing. But I did do the leg work to think there's no stronger canon connection than what I've posted. But I think it raises important questions about corrupted investiture, what corrupted means and whether there's a link between Roshar, Sel and Threnody - that of Odium's interference in those systems.
  8. Hmmm lets not beat around the bush. Sex slaves. Not prostitutes. And I'm not surprised but reading it is...harder
  9. A thread to discuss how disgusting Sadeas was. Over to you.
  10. SIX. PAGES. OF. POSTS. IN. 7. HOURS. Where time. How read. When work sleep. Why
  11. Wow. Just wow. So much from two chapters. I say two because the flashback we've had for some time (except the last few paragraphs. So I'll make my initial comments on the first two before I fall asleep (sorry if others have posted the same stuff) The Champion is fascinating but so is Odium's light being gold. And the champions eyes being red. Makes me think of Miles talking about red and gold... Azimir! Maybe irrelevant but the same strata pattern that Tien loved. In a place Szeth refers to have stones hallowed enough to walk on. Very interesting. Squires are proximity tied to the radiant. Means the bond between them is not spiritual? This fascinates me. They were progressively losing the Destinations! They must have started off with humanity being more advanced and reverted to cavemen. The heralds originally had an easier job. And if it was down sliding like that, maybe they even made the right choice... And of course, finally confirmation of 9 Unmade Time to fall asleep and see what has been said in the morning! And what I've hastily and wrongly put OATHBRINGEEEER!!!!!!!!!!!!
  12. Only that it wasn't one we've seen (as of Jan 16) And that if he was tempted by one it would be Endowment Incidentally i did a silly theory on this here some time ago
  13. When you have a job interview in 45 minutes, you already know the preview chapters have another 8 hours til release, and you STILL can’t think of anything but Oathbringer and are legitimately worried you’ll cite realmatic theory as one of your strengths.
  14. Ha that's it! I'm not much of a planner But a week on the reef, on an island, and with us both being divers - seems like both the sensible time and the sensible way, right We're only going there 6 months from now, hence that's the extent of my planning. I'll be sure to update you in 6 months though, including a verbatim of the many Cosmere references I'll proudly use and she won't understand.
  15. That is, no jokes, the plan
  16. By Vedeledev's Golden Keys! Is this the only advance instalment?
  17. Yeah I remember this now @Jace21. One of the most upvoted posts I've ever seen by someone who's only done a few. You should post more it seems
  18. I still don't have much to add to this, but I assume you've seen this WoP? This is to Botanica for translation purposes but certainly indicates the Unmade were in some way made, in the first place, to be what they were (I'm guessing a native Roshar species that was given sentience or some form of power). They are not simply without form.
  19. Yeah I could be totes wrong but I refuse to believe that was the actual boon rather than an effect of it. Dude's boon was probably being irresistible to women and he got the cloth from some smitten girl on his way home. I know what I'd tell my kids
  20. Here are the Dawnsinger text references So very little
  21. I wanna be Weiry when I grow up
  22. The question may be whether Hoid is invested enough to stop it. Even just a filled metalmind will stop a Shardblade and Hoid certainly isn't worried about them. I don't believe we know whether Nightblood will eat anything no matter how invested.
  23. FOLLY Aka Saicere/Caesura
  24. Eeehhhhh it's not just rational. Firstly, lerasium is a tiny tiny proportion of the investiture of Preservation. Those two Shards are heavily invested in the planet. The part of their essence that does enter the system as god metals is tiny compared to their total investiture. Yes, burning all the atium reduced Ruin's available power sufficiently, but it was a very even balance. Preservation is even more thinly spread than Ruin, so even if someone burned every lerasium bead I think it wouldn't come remotely close to even the majority of the Shard's investiture But most of all, why why why would a Shard let that much of their investiture escape in a usable form like that? They do have control over such things
