  1. The rhythms are spiritual and exist separately to the Listeners. A bronze burner can hear them and Connection will let you use them but you may lose nuance. A copper cloud will stop them. Here's some WoBs quickly (I love that one) And the most relevant to this thread
  2. You're beginning to believe
  3. Ah that’s cool man. I’d always assumed you had been a fan for many years, but that’s not long before I first read Sanderson. Only with me it took a year for me to start using the 17th Shard. I LOVE that Polish WoK cover, oh it’s so so cool. I was supposed to go to Wroclaw. My partner and I were going to visit a friend there in our last month in Prague, had bus tickets, got to the border with Poland after midnight, had border checks (it was right during the immigration debate) and it turned out my Czech temporary residence book wasn’t valid without my accompanying Australian passport. Thus began a 4 hour ordeal of being interrogated by Polish border guards (they were polite and pleasant), in the same room as a Russian lady who was in some kind of serious trouble), being given an official letter by Poland informing me I was not welcome in the country, at which point we walked 90 minutes to the bus station, realised we had a 3 hour wait til the next bus and proceeded to get drunk in a park. Classic Europe but always killed me I didn’t get to go to Wroclaw, I read a lot about it and it looks quite lovely. Great choice on Emperor’s Soul and I love the quote from it.
  4. He actually turned his friends into kandra and made non-terrismen into mistborn. It's in the annotations I'll dig it up when i get the chance
  5. I've slowed down though, more at your pace now. I'm leaving the heavy lifting for my man Calderis
  6. Only just noticed you've been here less than 2 years. When did you get into Brandon? What's your favorite story arc? What's your favorite cosmere quote? And what are you favorite places in 1)Poland and 2) Europe?
  7. Not bad for less than 2 years bruh.
  8. There's quite a few
  9. Just because it's unusual to get the chance to use this WoB...
  10. You may like this. In Czech, the word for moth translates literally to Nightmare. Ha thanks @Darkness Ascendant fixed that up
  11. I think it's just the name given to voidbinders but I LOVE the connection you made. Immediate upvote. I firmly believe the Listeners are native. Yes Roshar was created deliberately, but by Adonalsium, not by the Shards (even if the did alter or hijack aspects). But I do think the Listeners were created there. So like Calderis I have nothing to suggest but the link is a great one.
  12. I must've missed that question, sorry! As I say though, the rest of the theorizing is really interesting and well researched so don't consider that the end of the matter. Once I've finished work I'll look more closely and either way there's plenty in there to spark conversation
  13. Let me start by saying this is a wonderful analysis and I'll address it properly when I get the chance. For now I'll just say this - the reason I'm convinced the robed old man is Taravangian is because we know he was there that night and in Dalinar's counsel That's not to say your theory isn't worthwhile or even impossible. But it's worth mentioning
  14. New Zealand. Australia's kneecap. It is a very pretty kneecap though
  15. I'm confused whether we're doing ourselves or the person above, but in the latter case, I'd say you're known for... (July 4) Today ...having done 1679 posts in 50 days. FIFTY DAYS. In other words, more than 3 times as many as the second most prolific poster, yours truly. Posts aside, probably for accruing 1925 rep in 6 months. While I don't want to say it's a record (Twi collected outrageous points), it's pretty extreme. (Only comparing us again because it shows how crazily far you are ahead of anyone else)
  16. Could you be thinking of humans trying to eat the worms? From Boskone
  17. After an exhaustive search I can find nothing saying the focus depends on the planet, all RAFOs and suggestions based on what we do know. We know the magic system depends on the interaction of the Shard and the planet But I'm wondering if we're being too presumptive that we understand focus properly Coppermind says it depends on the planet and the Shard but with no reference. If someone else can find something definitive, they're better than this WoB-hunter
  18. @Calderis are you thinking of this thread?
  19. On this, I think the voice may have been Cultivation. We know the Listeners are not 'originally' of Cultivation (implying they are now), and it makes far more sense for Cultivation to stop Gavilar than Odium. But a Herald isn't a bad idea. I'll have to think on the rest of your insights after I sleep, especially the idea that Melishi's solution is a different thing (or that Gavilar is just wrong). I certainly assumed they were the same but you've given me pause. Oh and on the point just raised, I think that's confirmation they have gemhearts.
  20. I'd considered that, her and maybe Restares wife, but it seemed to me Navani knew nothing of Gavilar's intentions back then She may be lying but she was pretty broken up in that chapter. And it sounds like they were estranged so I doubt Gavilar let her into secret destroy-the-world meetings.
  21. Something has sparked my interest - Gavilar's co-conspirators. One officer is Amaram, he refers to him as Meridas. The other is presumably Restares. The old man in robes is surely Taravangian. So... who are the women?
  22. There's a significant change that jumps straight out. Gavilar does not say he has another black sphere. We know he does but he doesn't tell Eshonai. Another big one is that Venli was with Klade.
  23. Do we have any more Sharders who attended this? If there are any recordings I'm happy to transcribe. Need..WoB....fix....
  24. The Silmarillion
