WoB of course There's another one I don't have time to track down right now that says Nazrilof is his last name, I think? Or his first name. Either way, there's a name in there we don't yet know.

An Extensive Interview with the Team Behind the Kaladin Album
Extesian commented on Chaos's article in Columns and Features
Only bonus I need is for you guys to complete the beautiful work you're doing (subject to funds) There are great backers out there who pledged far more than I could afford. But hey if you want to do a bonus track of my namesake, Extes, sacrificing his son for knowledge of the date of his death, I won't criticize- 13 comments

An Extensive Interview with the Team Behind the Kaladin Album
Extesian commented on Chaos's article in Columns and Features
I was proud to make this only the second kickstarter I've ever backed (and giggled a bit when I was the 17th backer for the tier I did...y'know...17th... ), but to read more background, and particularly Sae Sae's story, makes me even more passionate! I can't wait for it guys, and thank you for trying to do something that will truly elevate the already semi- religious experience I have from these books. And great interview, whichever of my 17th Shard peeps did the questioning- 13 comments

I don't believe I've seen mention of, say, feruchemists with more pure bloodlines being more powerful. But if that's the case i think power would mean efficiency at tapping, especially when you're tapping at high rates. We know feruchemy gained through hemalurgy is not as 'powerful' - inquisitors are less efficient at storing But whether that's just a hemalurgy thing, or whether there are differences between born feruchemists, I'm not sure we know.

[OB] Walking to Urithiru - Preview Chapter Analysis!
Extesian replied to Overlord Jebus's topic in Stormlight Archive
FWIW that's always been my head canon (though i was more 1750-2250 years before) and I was glad to see that largely confirmed by stormpappy.- 51 replies

A lot of people hate Wayne. I love him. He can be jarringly rude, particularly to Steris, but he's a well meaning guy. He's also 'probably' Brandon's favorite character to write. He's also said that the treatment of Steris is because he's protective of Wax and doesn't think Steris is right for him (iirc because he liked Lessie). For some understanding of him here are something Brandon's said about him

Sunward side is just the 'bottom' of the city, no? The previous sentence referred to the sky and sun being 'down' (coz the city is upside down). If the planet didn't rotate (impossible coz of the laws of angular momentum iirc) or if it was tidally locked (is my terminology right?) Then half the planet wouldn't receive sunlight, which sounds unlikely here. And the cities must work on magic. If they are staying there by physics that means they're in orbit. You would have to have a city going quite ridiculously fast to be in orbit within the atmosphere and presumably would burn up. Can't wait to see more of Ashyn. I was pumped when Weiry referred to the transcript (which he did).

Shinovar and the Cognitive Relm
Extesian replied to AnAirSickLowLander's topic in Stormlight Archive
Yeah I think the lack of spren is because the realmic boundaries in the West v are stronger. As to the different animals There are chickens and so on in Shinovar simply, I think, because there is soil and the requirements for that branch of evolution. Those things couldn't evolve in the rest of the continent because Highstorms swept away the soil. Instead you get all these things with shells because they're getting their nutrients and minerals from crem. And soulcasting (Oathbringer spoiler for a chapter that has not yet been released as a sample chapter) -

So...why haven't we seen Renarin heal anyone? Lift was doing so long before Wyndle shardforked. Renarin has progression and he hasn't bothered healing, say, Adolin's injury? Either Truthwatchers were all resonance and no surge or Renarin is a voidbinder.

I also think it's realmatic, though not magical. I think something is strange about urithiru in the cognitive realm. Someone even mentioned the idea of defences in the cognitive realm. My first instinct was that the stones are invested, but this WoB may say otherwise (though of course he could just mean that Hallowed is a cultural concept)

This is brilliant @ccstat. A silly point regarding your diagram - Urithiru isn't symmetrical coz it's against a mountain There's another unreliable WoB

I'll start a thread after Chaos wisely flexed his banhammer muscles in relation to me putting a meme in the normal memes thread. So to kick it off...

I haven't read a single post and won't for a while, but here's my crazy speculation. What's worse than death? Possession. Who is closer to the cognitive realm already? Listeners. Who appeared to be dead? Eshonai. Who would be regarded as a heretic to their people by Nahel bonding? Eshonai. Eh probably doesn't fit with the other epigraphs, I don't have time to think. But throwing it out there for debunking.

My usual pre-sleep thought bubbles. haven't read any other comments so apologies if it's redundant Confirmation Listeners pre-dated humans on Roshar Confirmation even little towns had be spanreeds. And what exactly is Laral doing with a spanreed to the queen regent. Maybe metaphorical but reminds me of the Ten Deaths. So Urithiru is unsketchable by Shallan. Investiture interfering with investiture? I've been convinced rock stratais important since Tien's rock. I remain so. Confirmation Renarin is adopted. Is this a Bondmith power? I mean Shallan felt compelled to do an illusion and the information in that illusion, the Memory in it, was from the Stormfather through Dalinar. Can a Bondsmith coopt a surge? Can a Bondsmith create some kind of temporary connection with other surgebinders? So Renarin has seen the champion? Or Renarin knows that's not the champion? Or Renarin is the champion? (Sorry Feather, adopted and Odium's champ, not a good day for you) Did we know jah Keved is the biggest? Sounds so from this. Or biggest army at least So it takes a lot of stormlight and fails when the surgebinder leaves the immediate area. Unless it was dalinar leaving? I HEART YOU SHEN Renarin already knows. Awesome. Just how much can this dude see? And apparently Pattern can tell delicious lies from people he's not bound with. Interesting. All in all i STORMING LOVED EVERY WORD OF THOSE CHAPTERS Any more questions?

Planetary Focus, a specialization of the fundamentals of Magic.
Extesian replied to Calderis's topic in Cosmere Discussion
I've had almost no time to read forum posts lately but I gotta read yours. I've been meaning to do a full blown theory on this for some months, not gonna happen for the remainder of the year, so I'll summarise my largely untested thoughts. I believe every manifestation of investiture in the physical and spiritual realms is altered wavelengths. Metals as we know enable allomancy and feruchemy by the molecular structure of the metal. Sel magics by form. I think those forms are basically changing the wavelength of investiture (or however you want to describe it, musical harmonies etc). You need the right very specific wavelength to create a magical effect. I think it's the same with all focuses. On Roshar the spren or the bond (doesn't matter which) filters investiture into a certain wavelength, which the surgebinder can then use as the spren is woven into their spirit web. And i think even with commands/any intent requirement you are filtering investiture from the spiritual realm through your cognitive aspect where your thoughts actually change it to a certain wavelength, which dictates the outcome. Perception is so important because investiture filters firstthrough the cognitive realm and its wavelength is changed by perception. That's a very short summary and there are gaps, which is why i haven't done a full theory. The biggest one is intent, i haven't convinved myself that does actually affect investiture 'wavelength'. And of course the whole basis could be wrong. I also need to get a proper WoB collection on it. But khriss' words and Brandon's occasional use of that terminology led me this way. A couple of quick WoBs before i go back to real life last 3 are the most significant -
Way of Kings Prime Scene, Two Way of Kings Annotations
Extesian commented on Chaos's article in Brandon and Book News
I'm just being flippant nothing compares to Cosmere, but I've read and loved every last non-Cosmere book. And I absolutely appreciate that while other authors take breaks from writing, Brandon's breaks still involve writing. Hmmm and very interesting that soulcasting was called awakening. It doesn't actually make a lot of sense to me, but it feels like a long time since we had a non-reddit WoP so I will gladly eat this tasty knowledge, these delicious lies.- 17 comments
