  1. Okay, so I didn't mean to seem like I was downplaying their threat, but rather, what I am unsure of is how much the village can actually do about that threat. It seems to me that the more feasible approach would be to try and focus on the elims, as the faster we take them down, the more likely we can do so before the Mobborn get a majority. The reason I am not so sure we can prevent that is, as I said, because the mobborn can convert before dying, so only in the case of the elim kill also hitting a mobborn or conversion getting blocked do the number of mobborn in the game decrease on a mobborn getting executed. In every other case the amount of mobborn remains the same while the total amount of players decreases, bringing them closer to victory. So what I am saying is that I think that the only chance of victory the vilalge has is to try and get the elims as fast as possible, deos that make sense? But as I said, I am having trouble getting my head around the mobborn, so I could be missing something here, but this is where I'm at regarding my thoughts on them.
  2. @Archeris that what you're asking for? Something that should be noted I think is that in a way, the Mobborn are a bigger threat to the elims than the villagers, as they have an information advantage plus a semi-alignment-scan, so It wouldn't surprise me to see the elims taking out mobborn if one becomes obvious. edit: to clarify, I meant to say the the elims would be more wary of the mobborn than the villagers, not that the mobborn are more of a threat to the elims than they are to the villagers.
  3. I think I'm not really following your argument here? Could you explain what you're saying here a little more?
  4. Such things do sometimes happen in my experience, but they happen before the game starts. No switching once everyone got their alignment. Or are you saying your suspicion comes from being an augur and seeing you rolled mobborn?
  5. Doesn't a mobborn targetting an elim cause a redirect of the attack? So there would still only be one attack? Though this could cause an interesting situation later in the game where a mobborn get's killed by an elim through this mechanic, and the other mobborn (provided it was communicated who the mobborn would convert) will know who is likely to be the elim that did it.
  6. So, the trickiest bit of this game I am trying to wrap my head around is the Mobborn. The informers are a pretty standard elim faction, but the Mobborn will blend in quite well with the village, at least to start with. They are also looking to deal with the elims, though they want the game to last long enough for them to get a majority. Going by Archer's analysis (which seems somewhat sensible), then the Mobborn might try to pump the breaks a bit if an elim gets lynched C1 which might make them easier to tell apart from villagers. There is also the fact that as the game goes on the Mobborn should have a growing network of confirmed evil players which should make it easier for them to identify the elims, but will also result in behaviour that might make them easier to identify. However, something I am unsure about is whether the village should even be trying to actively hunt down Mobborn. Obviously, the village loses if the mobborn have a majority when all the elims go out, but to what degree can we prevent that from happening other than racing to deal with the elims as quickly as possible? The recruitment action happens before the execution and elim kill does, so unless there are a lot of soothers the amount of Mobborn will only shrink if both the execution and the elim kill hit a Mobborn, and in any other case the relative amount of Mobborn will grow. The way I see it, unless there's a way to almost guarnatee through soothing that the execution of a mobborn will wipe out the faction, the village should be focusing on taking out the elims as quickly as possible. Anyway, those are my thoughts on that, but I might be missing something here that would make executing suspected Mobborn make more sense, so I'd appreciate it if anyone else could chime in. @The Known NovelIf there is more than one Mobborn to start out with, do they start with a PM/some other information about who the other mobborn is/are? If they don't the above analysis might change as there is a bigger chance that there are two mobborn factions that don't know who the other one is, increasing the chances of recruitment actions getting wasted.
  7. Oh, I probably should indicate I actually want to play this game, rather than breaking my long silence with some questions and then refusing to elaborate
  8. @The Known NovelSince there's a possibility that the mob-born get split up or otherwise end up with several different groups unable to communicate (and possibly not knowing who the others are), how would the following situations play out? 1. two different mobborn submit recruitment actions 2. a mobborn tries to recruit another mobborn 3. two different mobborn submit recruitment actions, one of which targets another mobborn.
  9. @Elandera responding... to let you know it's fine to leave me at inactive for now. I definitely do intend to return at some point, but my life is very busy and chaotic right now, so I have no idea when that will be.
  10. It was that, or an extra player I'll try to have a slightly more comprehensive set of thought up later, but I will say that one of the things I was most worried about this game was balance, and despite the end result, I think the village absolutely had a fair shot at winning this game. in fact, the odds might have been slightly against the elims, but if so, not by much. Also, two things I'd like to attract everyone's attention to: The Agent doc. Just go and read it, it's fantastic! The elims had originally been planning to sabotage the brig C3, and only switched their plans in the last hour or so. If they had done that, Mat would have been hospitalized, and Biplet would have been seen targeting the brig by the spotlights, which likely would have resulted in her dismissal the next cycle. That would have resulted in a very different conclusion to this game, I reckon XD
  11. @StrikerEZ, Still too slow
  12. The cycle is now closed, and the game is over!
  13. Also, given how few players are left at this point, if everyone agrees, we'll end the cycle a day early (so wednesday instead of thursday)
  14. cycle 7 "And so, the records clearly show Quinn's guilt in this matter!" The one known simply as 'Bip' stated. "Hah, as if! The paper-trail clearly show that it is you that is guilty!" came the retort from Quinn. Praza had been watching the face-off between the two investigators for a while now. It might have been funny, if she didn't feel like the fate of the project hinged on the outcome of this discussion. With a sigh she moved up and interposed herself between the two women. "How about we stop the posturing. you both claim to have found proof in the records room, so why don't you..." "Chief!" One of the remaining crewmembers interrupted Praza, pointing excitedly at the airship. The chief engineer whirled around, but it took her a moment to determine what had attracted his attention. After a moment she found it. A thin plume of smoke, coming straight from the records room. "Aw, sh..." *** The fire was put out in short roder, but by that time it had consumed most of the records being kept in the airship. A short discussion followed, the conclusion of which was that it was Quinn who had been seen leaving the record's room last, and so she was dragged off by the constables. *** "So, is it done?" the burly man asked. "Yes, yes." The bespectacled man responded. "I've arranged for a little accident for Illwei. They won't be bothering us again anytime soon." "So, are we done yet?" The dagger-wielding woman asked. The burly man shook his had. "Not quite yet, but..." "We are in the end-game now." *** Quinn has been dismissed. They were a Village Investigator Illwei has been hospitalized! 17. Regarding this, once all avenues to victory for the village have been closed (bar any sudden inactivity in the elim team), we will end the game then and there. This point has not been reached yet though.
  18. Cycle 6 "You've got to listen to me! It's not my fault that headquarters has kept silent so far! I've been sending regular reports, just as I'm supposed to!" The pancake-loving crew-member argued, but his colleagues wanted to hear nothing off it. They refused to listen to anything that was said, and before long the captain brought in the constables to take the messenger away, both because of the suspicions, and for their own protection. Suspicion and anger where still present among the crew even after that, and it came as no surprise to anyone that someone broke into the messenger's hut and ransacked the place, breaking many of the equipment in the process, though if they found something incriminating, they did not share it. What did come as a surprise was the state in which Fourth of the Dark was found the following morning. Someone had locked him in the ship's cold storage, and though he was still alive, frost-bite had done a number on him, and he was promptly send to the hospital to recover. *** Szeth_Pancakes has been dismissed, they were a village messenger Gears has been hospitalized! 20. Everyone, just a quick headsup. This cycle will end 90 minute early, at 16:00 GMT on Sunday. The next cycle will be back to the normal schedule.
  21. Cycle 5 The captain pushed his way through the crowd to where four members of the ship's crew where just barely succeeding in keeping Azmin restrained. The crew looked down angrily on the big islander, though a smaller group where kneeling a round where 36th of the Tundra was carefully tending to Phillico, who looked dazed and was spotting a large bruise on the side of his face. "You, go get the constables." The captain pointed at one of the bystanders, then turned to the group keeping Azmin restrained. "Azmin, why did you hit him?" The captain asked. "He accused me of being with these saboteurs. Said I would have easily been big and strong enough to throw Second of the stairs to his death." The big islander grumbled. "Was that all?" The captain made the question sound more like a statement of fact. The surrounding crew nodded. "Phillico didn't do anything else." one of them said. "Azmin, you're done here." The captain spat out the words. "I don't care whether you're with the saboteurs or not, someone willing to resort to violence because someone else voiced a suspicion is not welcome on this crew." He waved forward the constables that had just arrived, who dragged off the big islander. "Tundra, will Phillico be okay?" The captain had turned to the doctor. 36th of the Tundra nodded. "He can sleep this off. The bruise won't be pretty, but Phillico will be ready for duty tomorrow morning." *** 36th of the Tundra was feeling less certain by the day. It'd been her dream to bring new knowledge to her people, but this had turned into a nightmare instead. As she walked to the small hotel she'd been staying at she was considering packing up and leaving. She'd seen enough, after all, to start teaching her people about airships, and things where getting ever more dangerous. Maybe it'd be better... Her thoughts where interrupted by a loud bang, and then a sudden pain in her left leg as it gave way beneath her. She hit the ground hard, and her consciousness fled fast as people started to gather around her. Her last thoughts where about how it might already be too late. *** Azmine_king has been dismissed! 22. Cycle 4 "You'll see, once all this is over, that I was speaking the truth!" The captain and Praza made their way to the commotion. A large group of crew had gathered around one particular member of the engineering crew, who was loudly protesting her innocence. "What's going on here?!" the captain barked. "It's Tevris, sir." One of the crewmen responded. "She's been awfully shifty sir. We think's she's hiding something. Davin saw her hanging around the lab after that place got trashed, think's she was inspecting her handywork. And I know she was in charge of inspecting the ropes before that incident with Second. And..." "I'm not a Saboteur!" Tevris cut in. "Anyone else wants to speak in her defense?" The captain asked. The gathered crew members shook their head. Some quickly, others after a moment of consideration. "Alright, take her away then." The captain called forward several burly crew members and they escorted the engineer out of the hangar, where constables would be waiting to take her away. "Now, Praza, you where informing me about the schedule for the repairs..." The captain turned away from the crew and continued his walk with the chief engineer. "I'm losing a lot of the ones I thought where my best people, but we'll get it done, sir." The chief engineer responded. *** Second of the passing wind stopped by the Northern wind's hangar late that evening to report his early discharge from the hospital. He was still feeling sore all over, but the doctors had cleared him for work after confirming that his thick skull had protected him from any serious injury. The hangar was mostly abandoned. Second spotted someone of the internal affairs team making the rounds, and some people where manning the bridge and working the search-lights, but apart from that the place was abandoned. As he made his way up the ladder to the ship proper something caught his attention from the corner of his eye. A small spark appeared on the outer hull near the bridge, then was gone just as quickly. Before the islander could do more than wonder though, a sudden bright flash all but blinded him, as all searchlights flared up, and then burned out. As he stumbled around on the stairs, blinde by the flash, Second suddenly felt a hand on his shoulder stabilizing him. Before he got the chance to thank the stranger though, he was suddenly shoved by the unseen person. For a moment he felt almost weightless. Then he hit the ground, and felt no more. *** Tani has been dismissed! she was a Village engineer* Jondesu has returned from the hospital. 25. Cycle 3 "So I've got good news and bad news." Praza reported to the captain, before immediately regretting her wording as the man shot her a venomous glare. "Out with it." the captain growled. "Ah, well, there was an accident while loading up food stuffs in the cargo bay. One of the ropes snapped, and one of our tribal guides, 'Second of the Passing Wind', got crushed. The doctors tell me he'll live, but it'll be a good while before eh's ready for duty again." Thanks tot he seriousness of the news, Praza even managed to keep a straight face while mentioning the victims name. "Also, someone got into the laboratory and set off a small explosive. No structural damage to the ship, but every glass object got smashed and a lot of chemicals leaked out. Frankly, we're lucky no one was working there at the time or they'd have ended up in the hospital as well." "And the good news?" the captain asked, impatiently. "The bit about no one being in the laboratory to get hurt was the good news." Praza admitted. "Though there's one curious bit. In their search for whoever messed up your quarters, the crew accused another one of the islanders, 'First of the Red Dawn'. Apparently he was seen in all of the wrong places. Before I could call in the constables though, the islander set off some kind of smoke bomb and ran. The crew chased him, but couldn't catch him. In fact, they claim he ran in four different directions at once, if you can believe it. He hasn't been seen since." "So we caught one of the saboteurs. I'd call that good news." Praza shook her head. "We searched his gear, and though there where some suspicious things among them, there was no sign of any connection to the SICS. However..." the chief engineer put several tools in front of the captain. "These are part of his tool set. They might not look that unusual, but they're from a lighter alloy than the tools of the rest of my engineers, and they're a lot better made too. They're pretty much flawless, with little signs of wear either. The only ones I know off that can make tools like these are the Ones Above." "Hmmmm." the captain grumbled. "That's interesting, but it doesn't get us any closer to catching the saboteurs. Tell the crew to stop slacking about and identify the culprits, or I'll just fire them all and start over again fresh." *** Archer has been arrested.
