  1. And since the shade attack percentage did not go up, I think we know for a fact that sart must have attacked someone with a crossbow but ran into a shade expert's protection. I'll have some more thoughts on this later, not fully awake yet.
  2. @Elandera, just checking, if 'drawing blood' is killing another player, does that also mean that wrath of shades only naturally triggers on someone succesfully killing a player, and can't trigger on someone getting succesfully protected by non-shade expert protection?
  3. Thief can't steal items though? And pass item is last in the ooa so it should have protected you against actions to steal it?
  4. @Elandera does the shade expert have to specify what they are protecting someone from (so an SE has to say, protecting X from shades, which meant a crossbow could get through?). @Alvron@Archer, Assuming one of you got attacked by the elims, which would you believe to be more likely?
  5. Because it was Aman, and with the situation as it was, Devo roleblocking them didn't guarantee they were actually the killer (could have been an SE instead, though that required a couple more moving parts). My tired head also thought Kas had said something about checking their alignment another way, but once that was made clear to not be viable I put my vote down because we needed to resolve the situation in one way or another.
  6. The only way I can see that working is if Aman's kill got roleblocked by someone else (or maybe if it was just a defense, but I doubt it), and e!devo claimed the action to gain major village cred. But that's something I'll personally only really be willing to look into if I end up at last 3 with devo and someone else I really trust, or someone else claims to have also blocked Aman.
  7. I'll be honest, reading the end of the previous cycle I was starting to seriously wonder if Aman was village, even though that didn't change the fact that the execution was necessary to resolve the stuff around the no-kill. So well done @Amanuensis! Btw, I've slept really badly, so I won't be very active at all this night turn.
  8. Argh, wish this had come a couple hours earlier so that I could try to think this through properly. Aman is I think for the best? Unless some other explanation for the lack of kill materialises this just really needs to be resolved.
  9. I'm pretty tired rn, so can't really think of anything. I thought you mentioned something?
  10. devotary Signing off here for the day. Devotaries claim makes me lean village on them, but I won't be around to see if aman's alignment is tested another way or if it's decided to lynch, so leaving my vote out for now. If no aman lynch would happen I'd probably vote ash instead.
  11. The reason I didn't feel like it would be with mat was because my read into it was that the whole thing was a potential trap to get v!mat exed. Then again, I suppose if I assume they're a team then the whole thing could also have been a situation to make e!mat look good, with the worst case situation being that mat would lose a life to getting hit by that tie. So yeah, on second though, e!devo being teamed up with e!mat is not impossible either. Anyway, getting back to going through the player list one by one. I'm leaning village on Illwei, though it's mostly gut. They started out clearly not quite caught up (understandable, of course), and I'd expect an elim to be able to get some kind of update/summary through their doc. It's not impossible to fake, of course, but I just didn't get the feeling they had anyone giving them pointers and info when they got thrown into the game. I also like that they seem to be trying to solve the game, sharing some reads, going into detail on the reasons for their vote and asking questions to get a better idea about how other people are looking at the game. Amanuensis is feeling a little off to me. They seem to be playing differently from last game, and just generally seem less invested in solving the game. Maybe it's the lack of real info so far, but gut is telling me I should be keeping an eye on them.
  12. Hmmm. Archer is a possibility as this move could be an indirect defense of them, though they're also the one that prodded me to reexamine what went down there. Definitely not teamed up with Mat.
  13. Not impossible, but it's a bit too obvious? Focusing on one person like that stands out. I'd expect an elim to instead give a lot of opinions, but be very superficial about it, so that people can't really read too much into it. So more like what Ashbringer has been doing. I don't quite remember that happening, so let me reread everything devotary has done so far. Right, it does feel a bit odd. Actually, more than a bit. Devotary kinda frames it like a test to see how willing mat was to vote for me in self defense, but such a test seems pointless, as mat doing a vote in self defense there wouldn't at all be alignment indicative. I wouldn't find it odd for a villager to vote in self defense for the first cycle even if it is against someone they don't really suspect, as C1 the only person you really can be sure of is yourself. It almost feels like devotary was setting mat up there for failure, planning to use them switching in self defense as a reason to push for the execution C2. I also agree with Kas that it seems odd how little devotary has talked about people as opposed to mechanics, though their last post does seem to correct that a little (though that was after pressure was being put on them over their lack of reads). For now I'm reading devotary as leaning elim. I have some time for one more person to go over, going form the top and skipping over Mat and Archer for now, it's Araris. So they've been a lot quieter early on than the previous game, but I get how feeling bad can sap your enthusiasm and energy for a game. I don't like the way they've been looking at VitC. Them pre-emptively stating they'll look at and suspect any votes made that way feels like it might be intended to discourage villagers from using it, which in turn would give the elims one less thing to worry about. For the rest I'm not really getting elim vibes from Araris, they do seem to be looking into solving the game. I guess for now my read is just south of neutral, but feel less suspicious of Araris then Ashbringer or Devotary. For now I'm putting my vote on Devotary, as looking back to what they did D1 to test mat really does feel off.
  14. So, I'm feeling dumb now. I think I was entering a bit of a tunnel on Archer now as their vote looked really sketchy to me, but I completely missed them being part of the three-way tie, despite this having been mentioned several times So yeah, that vote at least wasn't as sketchy as I thought it was, and with the rest of the situation there I think I'm going to back off from an Archer (or Mat) lynch until there's a bit more info floating around that could help resolve what happened D1. I'm going to start going over all the players one by one to try to get some more solid reads. I'm pretty low in energy right now though, so I'm not sure I'll be able to get through the entire list before the end of the cycle. Starting with Ashbringer, as they are getting some suspicion and I don't really have any sort of read on them right now. They have a fair number of posts, but a lot of it is just aimless banter, though this seems to be improving a bit more recently. They provided some reads towards the end of D1, but didn't really provide much reasoning for why they felt certain ways about certain people. I think it's a little noteworthy that the vote they ended up settling on wasn't really supported by their own reasoning, but by just stating agreement with someone else's work. Overall I don't have much of an opinion on them yet, but I think it's a little telling how few alignment indicative things they've said while clearly being engaged with the game to some degree at least. I haven't seen them play before so this might be normal to their playstyle, but I can't help but wonder if their posting style is a way of seeming engaged while hiding. Final read would be slight elim. I've got time for one more, so moving on to the known novel. ... @The Known Novelcould you give some opinions on someone that is not Mat? Seriously though, I think it's noteworthy how much TKN talked about Mat, but I'm not really seeing this being an elim trait? I think an elim wouldn't want to be so obviously focused on one person because it both looks odd and might invite retaliatory attention. I guess I'm leaning very slightly village because of this, but it's more gut than anything else, and I really hope to see TKN diversify their attention a little bit.
  15. Only other option I'm seeing is silver bones, though of course 42% isn't super low odds, so it could still have been on you, alternatives is just more likely. If someone does claim to have RB'd someone and no one comes forward with missing silver bones I'd be down to lynch the one that got blocked. @Elanderahow does iron will interact with broken survivors?
  16. Oops, missed that. That's a bit annoying then, as it means we might never learn for sure who got attacked.
  17. @Kasimirassuming no iron will odds of no one going insane are about 42%. Put another way, though your individual odds are only 5%, odds that at least one person would go insane are better than even, so I don't think you being insane guarantees you must have been attacked. And if you had been, I see no reason why you wouldn't claim, irrespective of alignment.
  18. @Elandera, would the pallid mask blocking a kill result in insanity, as it prevents the action rather than allowing for survival? @Kasimir running on my knowledge from last day, if I could have self-pressed on mat I would have. I could also seeing myself voting archer if there would have been enough votes on them. Maybe even if there hadn't been. @ArcherI asked during the night, but you had not responded yet. Why exactly did you break the tie last cycle?
  19. I guess I don't really agree with this way of looking at it? Most players are villagers in the majority of possible distro's, so until I actually see some information about what the actual distro is like I don't really feel it's something I can base reads on. Like, if at some point in the future an elim gets executed and they where the shade expert or had silver bones I'd see that as a reason to be a lot less suspicious of mat, but until that happened I don't see it really pushing his alignment either way. But you know, it's been years since I last played a village game so I might just be failing to understand the merits of your way of looking at it, or misinterpreting your read as stronger than it is.
  20. @KasimirI'm not sure why you're focusing on a situation where you and Mat are both elims, as I'm definitely not suggesting that, and as you pointed out, that situation makes very little sense given your hidden vote. I guess I do agree that e!mat almost requires e!archer, but I'm not really seeing why that clears him? I'm not getting particularly strong village vibes from Archer. Also, with the elims staying away from a tiebreaker this could be kinda like a wounded gazelle gambit (look, no one intervened to save this person from the tie, therefore they must be village). I can still see enough ways for Mat to be an elim in the current situation to be willing to clear them based on the way the vote went down.
  21. If it wasn't for your hidden vote I'd agree as E!mat's team-mates would be looking to break the tie in his favor. However, there was your hidden vote, and someone did break the (apparent) tie in mat's favor, so I don't think this says anything about his alignment.
  22. So... hmmm. Kinda happy I didn't get lynched despite Archer hammering, which I think is a bit suspicious. If either of Mat or Archer ends up flipping elim I'd be very suspicious of the other one (note: I'm not necessarily super suspicious from that interaction right now, but if either of them flips elim I'll be a lot more suspicious). @ArcherWhat made you suspicious enough of me over mat to break the tie? looking at your posts I'm not getting the feeling you were significantly more suspicious of me over Mat, or am I mistaken?
  23. Yeah, this is, as far as I know, true. I like to start with a bit of rules discussion or thoughts just to get something to talk about and get some discussion going, then start looking back after 24 hours or so have passed to try and form some reads on players. Of course, me being aware of that pattern also means that it is probably fairly NAI behavior for me. I'll be signing off for the rest of the cycle here. please don't execute me . I'll see you all either in the night cycle, or slowly arriving in the dead doc
  24. Five is too many elims for a 17 player game in my experience. It would give the players only three mislynches in total, and if there is any sort of killing role or ability (like say, the crossbows), if it hits a villager once it cuts another mislynch. (two cycles with mislynches of kill + a crossbow shot killing a villager would put us at Lilo). Gathered every instance I noted before here: I'm not getting the feeling you are annoyed exactly, but you did seem to be challenging every early vote or bit of suspicion thrown at you pretty much immediately, which makes me suspicious. You didn't seem that sensitive to suspicion last game.
